Elijahâs POV
To say that the dinner was awkward would be an understatement.
Natalie was polite. She even asked Alex and me a couple of questions. She kept talking to Sophie and she seemed really nice.
At least I thought so. Based on Alexâs expression he had a different opinion about Natalie.
But I couldnât talk to him about it while Natalie was there. Honestly, I wouldnât even be able to talk to him about it if Natalie wasnât there.
I was distracted.
I was distracted by the way Damien licked his lips after taking another bite. I was distracted by his muscles clenching as he tore a small piece of bread. I was distracted by his smile. I was distracted by his perfume.
He kept glancing at me and smirking. I really wanted to grab the back of his neck and wipe that smirk off his face. I wanted him on his knees andâ¦
âEli,â Sophiaâs soft voice made me flinch.
I gulped and looked at her. I could feel Damienâs leg touching mine under the table and I wanted to scream at him. He sat opposite me on purpose. He sat there because I knew I would be able to see everything he was purposely doing. He sat there because he knew it would drive me insane.
âYes, honey?â I asked, forcing myself to focus on my sister.
She was sitting next to me so I could run my fingers through her hair and kiss her temple.
âCan you please give me the water bottle?â she asked.
âOf course, honey,â I said as I reached for the bottle and gave it to her.
âThank you,â she said, giving me a small smile.
I placed another kiss on her temple and looked back at Damien. He was smirking a little and I narrowed my eyes at him. He raised an eyebrow at me and I felt his leg bump against mine again.
I was burning with desire and I couldnât wait for this dinner to end.
And it seemed like it never would. The meals kept coming. The conversation dragged along until I was on the verge of exploding.
What made it all worse was the fact that Damien didnât seem bothered at all. The fucker had two pieces of cake. He was dragging it along on purpose and I was going to get him back for that.
I was trembling with need by the time I finally knocked on his bedroom door. I had so many ideas about how I would punish him for what he did tonight. Every one of those ideas included me shoving myâ¦
âYes?â he asked as he opened the door.
He smirked immediately and looked me up and down. I pushed him back inside and my lips crashed against his.
I could feel him smile. He grabbed the back of my neck and pinned me against the wall.
âSomeone is a little impatient,â he mumbled as he lowered his lips to my neck.
I groaned and every muscle in my body clenched.
âYou did all of those things on purpose,â I mumbled, panting hard.
He started sucking on my neck and my eyes rolled to the back of my head.
âOf course I did,â he said smugly. âI enjoyed seeing how frustrated you were. I knew that I would enjoy all the ways you are about to punish me for doing that to you.â
I tangled my fingers into his hair and pulled his head back. He was smirking and it just pissed me off even more. I leaned in and bit his lower lip, making him groan and rub himself against me. I could feel how hard he was and it was driving me fucking insane.
âI am going to fuckâ¦,â I started saying, but I was interrupted by a soft knock on the door.
Damien and I both looked at the door. I stopped breathing.
âWhat the fuck?â Damien mumbled as he let me go.
My eyes widened. Damien looked around the room until his eyes fell on his closet.
âAre you kidding me?â I mumbled quietly.
âWell, itâs kind of appropriate,â he mumbled, making me roll my eyes at him.
âIâm coming,â Damien said loudly, smirking at me.
I started walking toward the closet and he grabbed me and shoved his tongue down my throat. I was so fucking turned on it hurt.
âGo,â Damien mumbled against my lips.
I rushed to the closet and got inside. I closed the door and took a deep breath.
âSophie?â I heard Damien mumble, his voice laced with surprise.
Sophie?!
Fuck!
I was hoping that she didnât come to ask him to sleep here. I would be trapped here until she fell asleep.
âHi,â I heard her soft voice. âIs Eli here?â
I fucking froze.
âElijah?â I heard Damien ask, his voice trembling. âNo. Why would he be here?â
Sophie was silent, but I heard the bedroom door close.
âI went to his room to talk to him, but I couldnât find him,â Sophie said. âI just assumed that he was here.â
Why would she do that? Why would she assume I was here? Did she see something?
Fuck!
I ran my fingers through my hair and tried to take a deep breath.
âWhy would you assume that?â Damien asked, his voice trembling.
Fuck. He was so fucking obvious.
Sophie was silent for a few moments. I desperately wanted to open the door and see what the hell was going on.
âSophie?â Damien called her quietly.
âBecause I know that something is going on between you,â she said and my heart stopped.
She knew?!
How? When did she find out? We were careful! How the hell did she find out?!
I was going to pass out.
âWhat?â Damien mumbled, his voice laced with worry. âWhy would you say that, Sophie?â
I could hear her sigh.
âI am very good at reading people,â she said. âI had to learn how to do that. Iâve known for a while that something is going on between you and Eli.â
Fuck.
Fuck, fuck, fuck.
âSo, is he here?â Sophie asked after a few moments of silence.
I took a deep breath and opened the closet door. She looked at me and smiled brightly. I furrowed my eyebrows and looked at Damien. He was staring at her in complete shock.
âEli!â she exclaimed as she rushed to me and hugged me. âI am so happy for you!â
I wrapped my arms around her and looked at Damien. I had so many questions.
He closed his eyes and shook his head.
âYou are not angry?â he mumbled, making Sophie look at him.
âWhy would I be angry?â she asked, furrowing her eyebrows. âI am happy you guys are together.â
Another wave of nervousness washed over me. Damien and I never really talked about it. The sex was amazing and everything, but there were so many obstacles between us.
âWell, Soph, we arenât reallyâ¦,â Damien mumbled, scratching the back of his neck nervously.
Her eyes widened and she looked at me.
âWhy?!â she exclaimed.
I took a deep breath and walked to the bed, pulling Sophie behind me. I sat down and made her sit next to me.
âItâs a bit complicated, Soph,â I mumbled. âOur familiesâ¦â
âWere enemies, yes,â she interrupted me. âBut thatâs in the past. What is stopping you?â
I glanced at Damien. He leaned against the wall and crossed his arms over his chest.
âWe share a sister,â he mumbled. âPeople would think it was weird.â
She scoffed and shook her head.
âYou are not related,â she said. âThatâs not an issue.â
Damien bit the inside of his cheek.
âYou seem eager to bring us together,â he said with amusement in his voice.
She sighed and nodded. âIâve been watching the two of you flirt for days. Itâs obvious that you like each other. Donât give up because of other people. Who cares what they will think about it.â
I chuckled and pulled her into a hug. Damien shook his head and approached us. We both wrapped our arms around her.
âWe love you, honey,â I said as I kissed her temple.
âEven when you stick your nose where it doesnât belong,â Damien snorted as he pulled her to him and kissed her forehead.
She smiled and leaned her head on my shoulder.
âSometimes all it takes is a little bit of someoneâs nose to nudge things along,â she said, making both Damien and I laugh.
âWhat?â Damien asked her, chuckling and shaking her head.
She shrugged and smiled at him. âI donât know. I made it up.â
I shook my head and hugged her tightly.
âYou little devil,â I mumbled as I kissed her forehead.
She looked at me and smiled. I caressed her cheek and took a deep breath.
âOkay, honey,â I said. âItâs late. You should go to bed.â
âWho is staying with you tonight?â Damien asked her.
âLuke,â she said as she stood up. âHe made a fort out of pillows.â
I chuckled and Damien rolled his eyes.
âSomeone should legally take like 10 years from his age,â Damien said. âHe is such a kid.â
I shook my head and watched as Sophie started walking toward the door. I remembered something she said when she came here.
âHoney?â I called her. âWhy were you looking for me? Did you need something?â
She turned around and grinned.
âNo,â she said. âI saw you walking in here and I thought it was as good time as any to stick my nose where it doesnât belong.â
My eyes widened and Damien snorted loudly.
âGood night,â she said as she opened the door and slipped out of the room.
I couldnât help but laugh. She really was a little devil. She was our little devil.
