After Jason leaves I try to slow my heart rate by doing deep breathing. When I'm finally calm, I finish my salad and clean my plate before I leave the kitchen. I'm free for the day so I decide to explore the house some more. After all this will be my home for the foreseeable future and it would be good to familiarize myself with the place so that I don't get lost.
Walking down the hallway, I find a library across from Mrs. Anderson's study. Walking inside I was surprised to see how large the library actually was. The shelves were mostly stacked with books that had to do with fashion, and I could tell that it was cleaned on a weekly basis seeing as there was not a speck of dust in sight. I hear the door open which startles me, and I drop a book. Turning around, I see the young maid who was downstairs in the kitchen with Jason before.
"Oh, sorry I didn't mean to startle you. You're the new girl Christina, right?"
"Yeah hi it's nice to meet you, what's your name?"
"April Young." April was a cute girl with a very petite frame and I could tell from her smile that she had a bubbly personality.
"Nice to meet you April, so are you the one who cleans the library?" I pick up the book I dropped and begin to study the cover.
"Yeah Mrs. Anderson loves coming in here at the end of the day, so I make sure it's always in its best shape."
I see her stare at the book in my hand.
"I forgot to tell you don't touch the books, she says their priceless so..."
'Oh, I'm sorry," I say before placing the book back on the shelf.
I turn to face her, "hey can I ask you a question?"
"Sure."
"Does Jason stay here all the time?" Aprils expression becomes rigid and I wonder if I've overstepped in any way.
"You mean Mr. Anderson," she says throwing me a stern look.
"What?"
"You have to address him as Mr. Anderson since you work for him. You can't just show up here on the first day and start addressing him by his first name."
"I'm sorry, it's just that he introduced himself to me as Jason, so I didn't know I had to be proper. Plus, I don't have to since I'm not on the clock right now."
"Oh right," she says as her face sinks into a frown. If I didn't know any better, I'd say April was crushing on Jason. The tone and stern look in her eyes said enough.
"April do you have a crush on Jason?" Her head snaps up in shock, "no why would you say that?" April stutter's nervously as her face becomes flushed.
"I don't know maybe it's because you flipped out over me saying his name. You like him, don't you?" She fiddled with her fingers before sighing and taking a seat.
"You caught me. I've worked for Mrs. Anderson for five years since I first came here when I was fifteen. I was a runaway, and she took me in and gave me a place to stay. She even enrolled me in school. When I first saw Jason, I felt butterflies in my stomach. I don't know what it is about him, but I just can't seem to stay away."
"Wow, if you like him so much why don't you tell him?"
"He's never really paid much attention to me. I think he sees me like a little sister since I came here so young. He also never told me his first name personally; I found it out from Mrs. Anderson which is why I was shocked that he would tell you."
"Oh well I'm sorry."
"Don't apologize, if he wishes that you address him as Jason then you should do so."
"Okay but I don't want to be the only one addressing him by his first name that would be weird."
"I understand where you're coming from Christina. I'm also not the only one who likes Jason, all the other maids like him as well. He's like that bit of eye candy that we get to see every day, since most of the day we work and don't go outside."
"He's not all that April. In fact, he was shocked that I didn't even know him." April's mouth dropped shocked as she jumped up and pointed a finger at me.
"How did you not know him? He's a famous model!"
"I don't watch a lot of TV; I was way too focused on getting into medical school."
"Yeah, I heard, and I'm sorry about your mom. Maria's like a second mother to me, so it's sad hear that she's going through this tough time."
"Thanks April that means a lot."
"No problem. Anyway, I need to get back to work, but we should hang out sometime."
"Yeah definitely," I say making my way towards the door.
I waved and left so that April could get back to work. As I continued to explore the house, I ended up finding the game room. The lights were off, but I could see that it was well equipped like an arcade. I found the movie theatre, and a hair studio. It was safe to say that this house had everything you could ever need. As I tried to walk back to my room, I found myself getting lost. I continued walking but stopped when I saw a room full of trophies. I entered and saw that they were trophies for soccer.
I stared at them until Jason's voice startled me.
"What are you doing?" The deep masculine tone of his voice sent a shiver through my body.
Crap of all places to wander into I wander into his bedroom.
"Oh, sorry I was exploring the house, and got lost. I saw this cabinet full of trophies, so I came to take a look. I didn't know this was your bedroom."
I turned around and came face to face with a very shocking scene. Jason's hair was wet, and he was only wearing a towel. He must have just finished taking a shower.
"It's okay," he said laughing.
He walked over to me and put the trophy back in the case. I tried to avert my eyes from staring at his well-defined abs, but I couldn't help myself.
"You like what you see?" Jason looked me up and down while smirking at me. I averted my eyes away from him as I tried to calm my heart.
"I don't know what you're talking about, but anyway do you still play?"
"No, I don't, my agent thinks I'll fall and bruise myself or end up getting a scratch on my face. I do however still kick the ball around when I have a friend to do so with."
"Are you inviting me to play with you?"
"I don't know, but there are a lot of things I'd like to invite you to do." Heat creeps up my neck as I feel my palms beginning to sweat.
I clear my throat and break the intense stare he was giving me. "Well I'll leave you change sorry for barging in here."
"It's not a problem Christina really."
"Thanks Mr. Anderson."
"Whoa wait, please don't call me that." I stare at him puzzled by his sudden outburst.
"Why not aren't I supposed to address you like this since I work here?"
"I mean you are/ can, but it makes me feel older than I really am and I'm about the same age as you."
"How do you know that; I could be twenty-six for all you know?"
"No, you're definitely twenty years old."
He was spot on. "Wow that's creepy," I say laughing softly to myself.
"It's a gift I have."
"Fine, but why does April address you formally?"
"That's because she chooses to do so, but you I will not tolerate that from. I want you to call me by my first name okay." He throws me another wink and I roll my eyes at him.
"Okay see you around Jason."
"Definitely," he says staring me up and down. I can't help but do the same before he clears his throat.
"Before you go do you want to take a picture? Trust me it'll last longer," he says raising his eyebrows in amusement.
I feel a blush coming on, so I turn away from him in embarrassment. "You're an ass, I was not checking you out so please don't flatter yourself." Walking down the hall flustered, I hear him chuckle as he closes his door. I eventually find my way back to my room and get ready for bed. Tomorrow was my first day and I did not want to disappoint Mrs. Anderson she has done so much for my mother; I just want to prove that I am worthy of her trust.
My alarm goes off at seven o'clock, and I get up to get ready to start my day. I was given a uniform to wear during my hours of work. It's a little tacky, but I don't have a choice. I take a shower, brush my teeth and roll my hair into a bun before putting on the uniform. Taking one more look at myself in the mirror, I head downstairs to Mrs. Anderson's office.
Once downstairs, I grab cleaning supplies from the closet and head to her office. I knocked on the door, but there was no answer, so I presumed she wasn't there. I spent thirty-minutes cleaning her office, before I head to her design studio.
Nobody was supposed to be in there, since it was only nine o'clock, but to my surprise I find Jason sitting at a workstation.
"Oh sorry, I didn't expect you to be here."
I watched as he scanned me over with his eyes. "It's shocking really, you can even make wearing that ugly uniform look sexy."
"I'm sorry," I say with a confused expression.
He gets up and makes his way over to my side. He circles around me making me uncomfortable.
"So, you're responsible for cleaning this room?"
'Yes," I say with a labored breath. Being this close to him was beginning to make my mind run wild.
"What are you thinking?"
"Nothing."
He takes the clip out of my bun, and my hair falls down.
"I prefer you with your hair down," he says before taking a strand and placing it behind my ear. My heart started beating like crazy and I felt my palms start sweating again. Its crazy how much my body responds to him just being around me.
"Jason what are you doing?"
"Nothing I'm just admiring a work of art."
"Please stop it, there's nothing special about me."
He grabs my face and forces me to look him in the eye. "You are beautiful. I don't see why you can't see that."
He begins to close the distance between our lips, and just as he is about to kiss me, I stop him.
"Please let me go. I work for your mother, so that means you are my employer as well and what you're doing is completely inappropriate."
He pulls away from me smirking. "I've never met a girl who could resist my charm before."
"Well now you have, to be honest you're not all that great," I say with a smirk.
"Really, well Christina you better watch out because I'm simply irresistible, and I will have you one way or the other."
"What?" I was shocked by what he'd just said to me.
"I've taken a liking to you, so I want you."
He stared at me with eyes full of hunger, and I had never met a man who was so forward before. "I'm sorry Jason but I will never be yours. I'll come back later to clean the room."
I leave the room and pace down the hallway to Mrs. Anderson's master suite. I can't believe he almost kissed me. I know I was being strong, but at the same time I wanted him. I wanted him but I know that I cannot have him, not as long as I wear this uniform. I walk into Mrs. Anderson's room and begin to clean. The doorbell rings and I peek out of the room to see April opening the front door.
I see a beautiful blonde bombshell walk right in. She is wearing a skin tight dress which left little to the imagination and showed off her long toned legs.
"Is Jason here," she asks, and I see Jason walk up to her with open arms.
"Jason, I missed you," I hear her say before runs up and kisses him. My eyes open in shock, as I watch their little make out session. Jason breaks the kiss to say, "I've missed you too, come on let's head to the studio."
I watch them walk hand in hand and just as he is about to be out of sight, he catches me staring at him, and throws me a wink.
I walk back to the room, and a sense of anger comes over me. I mentally slap myself, there is no way in hell I'm jealous over that conceited playboy. I continue cleaning her bedroom, and once I'm done, I decide to wait a few hours before going back to clean the design studio.
The door to the studio was ajar, so I took a little peak to find Jason working on an outfit and using the blonde woman as a model.
"Miss. Munoz can I help you?"
I was shocked at his sudden formality. "No Mr. Anderson I was just checking to see if you were done." I realized that I called him Mr. Anderson again, as I saw his lips press into a straight line.
"Yeah I'm just about done." He put the final touches on the dress he was working on as the model squealed in excitement. "It's perfect." She gives Jason another kiss, before he zips her down. I take my leave so that she can change, but I notice Jason did not leave.
Once she is finished, she comes out and kisses Jason one last time before saying, "Call me sometime."
Jason nods and she walks down the hallway to leave.
Jason takes a step to close the gap between us before lowering his head and whispering in my ear, "green is a nice color on you." Jason then walks off down the hallway.
I blush and walk inside the room to clean it. I'm not jealous I say to myself. As I clean the room, I spot an amazing dress on a mannequin. It was so beautiful, and I know Mrs. Anderson told me not to touch her clothing, but I had to try it on. She wasn't home, so it's not like she would see me. I quickly take off my uniform put the dress on. It was a gold evening gown which clung to my curves in all the right spots. As I admire myself in the mirror, Jason walks back into the room.
"Christina what are you doing?" I turn to look at him in shock as I almost stumble off the platform.
This can't be happening I thought he left. I broke Mrs. Anderson's rule of not wearing her designs and Jason caught me. Great my life is officially over.
