Chapter 107
âPoor Daphne! A famous celebrity like her came to pick up the Lane familyâs child, only to end up getting pranked!â
âIt sure isnât easy to join a wealthy family. Even a big shot celebrity like her has to curry favor with her boyfriendâs nephew.â
âTsk, tsk. Whatâs so bad about being an independent woman? Is her income from being a celebrity not enough? Why does she have to rely on marrying into a wealthy family?â
âPeople are never satisfied.â
Everyone was talking.
Kiki finally understood what was going onâDaphne was here!
She squeezed through the crowd and stood on tiptoe only to see several bodyguards escorting a drenched Daphne to a minivan.
Kiki couldnât help but laugh out loud. âEven someone like Daphne got pranked. Serves her right!â As soon as Daphne left, the crowd gradually dispersed.
Kiki.â
Kiki was still wondering where Zachary was when she heard a voice calling. âAunt Kiki.â
âDarren? Why havenât you gone home yet?â Kiki asked, seeing Darren with his shirt off and smiling at her. She quickly walked up to the child. âHasnât your driver come to pick you up?â
Darren shook his head. âI told him to come ten minutes later.â
âWhy?â
âYou saw the state that woman was in, didnât you? It was my doing, Aunt Kiki!â
Stunned, Kiki asked, âYou poured water on her?â She was a bit worried. She had just been released from jail; she didnât want Darren to get in trouble as well. After all, Daphne was Xavierâs girlfriend!
Darren looked proud. âIt wasnât just me; there were also-â
Before he could name the other two, Zachary walked out and said, âDarren, your ride is here.â
As Darren glanced around, he forgot that he was in the middle of talking when he saw the middle- aged driver waving at him.
Iâm off, Aunt Kiki!â he said.
Kiki couldnât shake off the strange feeling she had. Without dwelling on it, she took Zachary to the car.
When Yvette saw them get in, she asked, âWhat happened just now?â
âAsk him.â Kiki pointed at Zachary. âI think he knows more than I do.â
However, Zacharyâs big eyes looked innocent as he asked, âKiki, what are you talking about?â

And he was feigning ignorance now! Keep it up!
Kiki crossed her arms. âFine, Yvvy, Iâll tell you. Daphne was at the kindergarten earlier. I couldnât see it clearly from a distance, but she was completely soaked. She looked miserable.â
âWhy was she here?â Yvette felt uneasy.
Zachary quickly explained, âOh, Kiki, thatâs what you meant? Hereâs what happened. She came to pick up a student from our class. We were cleaning up when she slipped in her high heels and accidentally knocked over a water bucket.â
âThatâs it?â Kiki hesitated before sighing in relief, thankful Darren hadnât offended that bitch, Daphne.
Zachary nodded. âOf course.â
He had made sure Daphne wouldnât have anything to blame him for.
Daphne had indeed slipped on her own, and the water bucket had just happened to get tipped over. At least the children had made sure to put on a better show than Daphne ever would have been able to pull off when they had pretended to accidentally spill the bucket of water.
Kiki was momentarily speechless.
âAlright then.â She eventually sighed. âPretend I never asked. Still, that sure was satisfying to see.â
Meanwhile, in the minivan, Laura carefully wiped the dirty water off Daphneâs face and tended to the injuries on the latterâs leg.
Before they could finish, Daphneâs phone rang
As soon as she answered, Shannonâs angry voice came through. âDaphne, what the hell is wrong with you? You said you wanted to pick up Malcolm. Is this the way you do things after I got this
opportunity for you?
âIf you didnât want to do it, you shouldnât have asked me in the first place. You still havenât gotten pregnant. Whatâs the point of keeping you around?â
