Chapter 209
Xavier had changed into a fresh set of clothes by now. He sat straight on the couch; there was no space for him to rest his long legs. His short hair was still damp, and his facial features were wellâdefined. There was a complicated look in his eyes. âI took the door apart,â he calmly said.
Yvette tightened the bathrobe she was wearing. âGet out.â
However, it didnât look like he was planning to leave at all. He got up and approached her.
âWhy in the world are you angry?â He hadnât gotten to the bottom of the situation yet, and he
wanted her to tell him herself.
Yvette couldnât be bothered by him. âThereâs no reason. Please get out. I want to change.â
Xavier stood still. âItâs not like Iâve never seen you naked before.â
She blushed in embarrassment instantly. Since she had no other choice, she could only get changed with her back facing him. Xavier sat back on the couch and stared at her back. His
throat started to feel warm.
Soon, he realized he was reacting to the situation, and he quickly retracted his gaze. He took his phone out to see if the bodyguard was done with his task.
As expected, the bodyguard sent in a message soon after that.
âMr. Lane, weâve managed to get the housekeepers to talk after using some unconventional methods. They said Lynn was the one who humiliated Ms. Snyder first.
âShe also threatened Ms. Snyder and said she would tell Mr. Lane Senior about it so that he would kick Ms. Snyder out. That was when Ms. Snyder left the mansion.â
As Xavier read the message silently, the air around him turned cold. Then, he typed out a message. âBring her here.â
After sending it, he turned his phone off and looked at Yvette again. She was already done changing. âWhy didnât you tell me right away?â
He didnât know a housekeeper would dare to kick his wife out of the house!
Yvette Jooked at his face and asked, âIf I had, would you have believed me?â
Xavierâs heart skipped a beat. Then, Yvette calmly continued, âRegardless of whether you would have believed me or not, I doubt you would have done anything for me.
âIf it hadnât been for you, she wouldnât have dared to humiliate me or threaten me. She isnât the only one. Not a single person in the Lane family has ever treated me as Mrs. Lane.
âLike you, all of them treat me like a deaf scammer whoâs clinging to you for power and

wealth.â
Yvette spoke her mind, not caring whether Xavier would get angry. She had already gotten his semen and the map of Fortian Manor.
The worst thing that could happen at that moment was them getting into a fight. She decided to be brave for Zachary and Noah.
As Xavier listened to her complaining, he wondered why he was the one in the wrong. After all, Lynn was the one who had bullied her. He was unwilling to accept defeat. âWas I wrong to think that way? Did you not lie to me? Are you notâ¦â
He suppressed the urge to say that she was deaf. He didnât know why he had done that. If it had been before, he wouldnât have resisted it at all. Now, when he saw Yvetteâs eyes getting teary, he felt bad for hurting her.
However, he had already spoken. So, it didnât matter if he had resisted the urge to say that last word.
Yvetteâs eyes turned red as she said, âThatâs right. Youâre right to think that way. I am a deaf scammer. In that case, please have mercy and give me back my son. Then, let us go.â
When he heard that again, he couldnât help tightening his grip so hard that his knuckles popped. Then, he scoffed. âBy the way, youâve forgotten one more thing. You had an affair.â
After saying that, he stood in front of her. âDo you think I would let you go so easily after what youâve done to me?â
