Chapter 213

Yvette had just arrived at Lane Mansion and had breakfast with Xavier when she received the message from Shannon.

Shannon wanted to meet her and have a talk. Yvette told Xavier about it, and he said, “If you don’t want to go, you can reject her.”

She didn’t know if he was serious about it. “It’s alright. I’ll go.”

Then, she got up to look for Shannon

The latter was watering flowers in the garden outside. When she noticed Yvette approaching her, she passed the watering can to the housekeeper. “Change all the flowers that can’t bloom here.”

“Yes.”

She was saying that in front of Yvette on purpose, hinting at how the latter couldn’t give birth. Of course, Yvette knew what Shannon was implying, but she looked calm.

Then, the two of them got in the car. Shannon was unexpectedly quiet while they were on the road.

Yvette nodded slightly. Shannon looked happy, and she forced herself to stay calm. “I was wrong in the past. If you can get pregnant with Xav’s child, I’ll promise to treat you and your child nicely from now on.”

want.”

Compared to how domineering she used to be, Shannon was extremely gentle at that moment. She looked sincere as she held Yvette’s hands.

Yvette knew that Shannon was only acting like this because she needed something. So, she pulled her hands back right away. “I can’t promise you something like that.”

The smile on Shannon’s face froze. “What if I gave you two billion dollars for a child?”

She paused for a moment and added, “Of course, after you’re pregnant, you’ll have to get your body checked. I don’t want the child to have any health complications. You’ll also have to let us take care of the child after you give birth.”

Yvette knew what Shannon was trying to say. Since she was hearing–impaired, Shannon feared her child would turn out to be the same.

Shannon wanted to continue to persuade her, but they had reached the kindergarten’s gates. When Yvette saw the familiar kindergarten, she was shocked. She wondered why Shannon had brought her there.

The children were getting out of kindergarten early that day, and they came out a short while later. When Yvette got out of the car, she saw the familiar little figure among the crowd right away. When she saw Zachary after a long time, she wanted to hug him badly.

However, she couldn’t let him see her at that moment. If he called out to her, Shannon would definitely hear him. Since it wouldn’t be wise for Yvette to get back into the car, she had no choice but to hide behind other parents.

Shannon couldn’t care less about Yvette at that moment. She approached Zachary right away. “Zac, look at what I’ve brought you today.”

Yvette could feel chills all over her body as she watched their interaction from nearby.
