Yvette shook her head. “No, why?”

“Nothing. It’s just that I feel like we haven’t seen him in a while. Maybe you should invite him over for dinner sometime,” Viola sug ted, not giving up.

Yvette realized what she meant and immediately recalled her last

conversation with Claude. “Viola, Claude treats me like a friend. Please don’t make things difficult for him.”

A friend?

Despite her age, Viola could see clearly that Claude had feelings for Yvette. Could it be that Claude had given up on pursuing Yvette because Xavier was living with her now?

Worried for Yvette, Viola added, “I understand, but Yvvy, you need to think about yourself too. You’re pregnant now, and it’s tough to take care of so many kids on your own.”

“I have money now, so I’m not worried,” Yvette said optimistically.

But Viola hadn’t just been talking about finances and hiring help; she wanted Yvette to find love and happiness. Knowing that Yvette wouldn’t change her mind easily, Viola didn’t push further.

The day passed quickly. The next morning, Yvette needed to go back to Tirion. Seeing her constantly on the move, Viola couldn’t help worrying about

“I’ll go with you.” During breakfast, Xavier offered to go with her; he was worried about the baby.

It’s fine. You should focus on your work.” Yvette declined firmly.

“Then, at least take the bodyguards,” Xavier insisted. He knew Yvette wouldn’t let him come, but he hoped they could compromise.

“No, I’m fine with just having Ray with me.” Yvette refused again. She felt uncomfortable having too many people around her; it drew too much

attention as well.

Once she finished breakfast and got ready to leave, she noticed four bodyguards with less pleasant appearances standing outside. Ray was standing by another car, creating a stark contrast.

As soon as the bodyguards saw Yvette, they mediately greeted her. “This way, please, Mrs. Lane.”

Yvette ignored them and walked straight to Ray. “Ray, let’s go.”

“Okay,” Ray replied. Soon, he drove off.

The four bodyguards followed closely behind them in another car. Noticing this, Yvette called Xavier. “Tell your bodyguards to leave.”

“From now on, they’re your bodyguards. You can give them orders yourself,” Xavier replied.

Yvette was taken aback. What did he mean by “your bodyguards“?

She had Ray pull over, then walked over to the car behind hers and instructed the bodyguards, “Go back.”

“Yes, ma’am,” the lead bodyguard immediately replied.

Back at the house, Xavier felt a mix of frustration and melancholy as he held the phone.

Yesterday, he’d gotten Mark to try to bribe Ray. But to his surprise, Ray had refused him. This only made Xavier more suspicious of Ray’s intentions and trustworthiness.

It seemed he’d have to follow Yvette to Tirion himself.

Viola, who hadn’t gone to her room to rest yet, noticed Xavier staring at his phone in a daze. “What’s the matter?”

“Nothing.” Xavier paused, then added, “I’ll be working the night shift for the

“You better not do anything to hurt Yvvy. If you do, you should ask for a divorce yourself; don’t waste Yvvy’s time.”

Xavier stood up and replied, “Don’t worry. I won’t.” Although he didn’t say much, his words carried weight, conveying his determination.
