Suddenly, the grandfather clock in the house started chiming. Viola turned around and looked at the clock. She mumbled, “It’s already midnight. I’m heading to bed now.”

“Alright.”

Yvette watched as Viola left. Then, she placed her hand on the bump on her belly.

She felt complicated after hearing what Viola said. After all, Viola hated him a lot not too long ago. Yvette didn’t understand why she would change her mind about him that quickly. She’d even said Yvette could stay with him.

Yvette looked at Xavier and the boys again and shook her head. There was no way she would walk the same path again.

When they cleared the branch and the excess snow, Xavier brought the children back to the house. Yvette immediately made a fire at the fireplace to warm them up. “Take a warm shower later and go to bed after

that.”

The children nodded their heads. They’d only been giving Xavier instructions earlier, and they didn’t feel cold at all.

As for Xavier, his good–looking, slender arms were red, but his expression didn’t shift at all. He’d probably worked the most in his entire life during his stay there.

Yvette thought about what happened earlier that night, and she didn’t dare to look at him. After the two children had warmed up, she immediately took them to take a shower and got them fresh clothes.

They might have been outside for a long time because now, the raging fire in Xavier’s heart was gone.

Soon, it was the New Year. Yvette woke up early to prepare delicious food for the children. Then, she started decorating the house.

They’d only celebrated Christmas when they were abroad. Now, they finally had the chance to celebrate the New Year.

When she walked toward the kitchen, she saw Xavier with the cook in there. He was in casual clothes and had an apron on him, looking like a househusband.

When he heard the footsteps behind him, he put down the pierogies in his hand and turned to her. “Yvvy.” He didn’t question who it was at all. When there weren’t a lot of people around, he could tell who it was from their footsteps.

“Yeah.” Yvette still felt a little awkward. “Are we having pierogies for breakfast today

Grace immediately said, “I’m preparing all kinds of vegan pierogies today. Would you like to prepare them

with us?”

Seeing how Xavier was in there as well, Yvette didn’t enter the kitchen. “No. The kids have just returned, so I’m going to wash their clothes.”

After saying that, she left there quickly. Then, she went to the laundry room and did the children’s laundry.

She couldn’t help slapping herself. “Why are you being so awkward? It’s not like you’ve never gotten in bed together before!”

They had even touched each other’s bodies. As she comforted herself, she didn’t realize Noah was standing outside. He yawned and asked, “What bed, Mom?”

She blushed brightly again when she saw him standing at the door. “Nothing…”

Noah had a feeling like something was wrong with Yvette ever since last night. He approached her and said, “Actually, Zac and I saw what you were doing with Mr. Xavier last night. Don’t worry. We won’t tell anyone about it.”

She was shocked, and she asked, “Did you two see us?

“It was just a kiss, right? It’s fine. Just think of it as a bite from a dog,” he said while comforting Yvette. She felt ashamed; she couldn’t believe she’d let her children see her in that situation. She swore it would never happen again.

“That’s enough, baby. Head downstairs and see if the pierogies are ready. If they are, you can start eating them.”

“Okay.”

After he left, she slapped herself again. Suddenly, her phone rang. When she picked it up, she noticed it was Shannon calling.
