Zayden glanced at Jeremiah once more and noticed how he showed no signs of standing up for Xavier. So, he confidently walked toward Xavier with a glass of wine in his hand.

“Xavier, drink this glass of wine I’m holding now and apologize to me. Then, I shall forget everything you’ve done in the past.” He swirled the glass of wine and spat in it before handing it to Xavier. When the latter heard that, he didn’t even raise his head.

Seeing how Xavier was ignoring him, Zayden became infuriated. He bent down and said with a low voice,” Do you think you’re still the same Xavier from before? I can squash you like an ant right now, so you better listen to me.”

Everyone else looked toward them, but no one dared to help Xavier. He slowly clenched his fists tighter. Just as he was about to punch Zayden, he suddenly heard a familiar voice.

“Xav, why did you come alone without for me?”

It was Yvette. Upon arriving, she’d noticed Xavier was sitting in the corner and being bullied. She thought about how he’d helped her before.

Now that he’d lost his sight and memories, she couldn’t watch as he got bullied. After all, he was also Noah and Zachary’s father.

When Xavier heard her voice, he immediately relaxed his fists and stood up. Then, he pretended to look pitiful as he walked to her. “Yvvy, I thought you weren’t coming.”

Zayden brought the wine near Yvette’s mouth. If she didn’t dare to drink it, they would never let her and Xavier walk out of the mansion in one piece.

She looked at the glass of wine in front of her and saw how everyone was watching the commotion. Then, she decided to accept the drink. Before she could reach out, they heard a cold voice. “That’s enough.”

It was Jeremiah. He stood up and walked toward the three of them.

“Since it’s the New Year, let’s not make things ugly.” His voice sounded gentle yet threatening at the same time.

Zayden looked at Jeremiah, who looked exactly like Xavier, and he unwillingly stopped what he was doing.

Jeremiah hadn’t even looked at Xavier earlier; Zayden didn’t understand why he would suddenly help Xavier now. After all, the two brothers weren’t on speaking terms.

After Zayden stopped what he was doing, everything seemed to have returned to normal. However, although Yvette was wearing a hearing aid, she still heard how the crowd was mocking them.

“One’s blind, while the other’s deaf. I guess they are a perfect match now.”
