Although Xavier’s office wasn’t big, there were a lot of newspaper clippings on the wall. There was news about missing children and articles on deaf children receiving financial aid.

Yvette entered the room and had a look around. There was even a computer and a phone prepared specially for a blind person. All the doubts she had was gone for now.

“Do your best at your work. I won’t disturb you further.”

“Alright. Let me walk you out.” Xavier knew she believed him, so he could finally stop worrying.

“It’s alright. Work is more important.” Then, she left by herself.

As she returned home, she called Kiki. “Kiki, I’ve just visited Xavier’s company. It really is a charity home.” She had talked about it with Kiki previously.

“Is he really that desperate now?” Kiki asked as she worked.

“I think this job is good for him. He can help others while living a peaceful life.” Yvette had always wanted a quiet life.

“Yvvy, don’t tell me that you’re going soft on him and thinking about forgiving him. Are you thinking about getting back together with him? He’s blind now. If you stay with him again, what if he regains his memories and sight in the future and goes back to the way he was?”

Yvette didn’t know how to answer Kiki at that moment. People could change at any moment, and no one could promise to stay the same forever.

“But I can’t possibly get a divorce now. So, let’s just take one step at a time.”

“That’s fine too. Make sure you protect your personal assets. Don’t let him scam you again,” Kiki reminded

When Yvette heard that, she suddenly remembered how Xavier had hired Hannah and Grace. She wondered how he’d managed to hire them when he had debts to clear.

When she reached home, she couldn’t help asking them about their salary, and their answers were

consistent.

Hannah was only making 6,000 dollars per month, while Grace received 3,000 for making three meals per day. Yvette told them to give her their bank details, saying that she would pay them in the future.

After she left, they secretly called Mark. Fortunately, Xavier had thought about the salary in advance. So, the salary they’d told Yvette was the lowest possible market rate.

“Good job. When you buy groceries in the future, make sure you get the cheapest ones,” Mark reminded.

He thought Xavier was purposely looking for trouble to torture himself. After all, he was wealthy. However, he was pretending to be poor. Since he had a lot of money, he could’ve gotten any woman he wanted.

Mark stopped his train of thought and brought Xavier the recent documents. “Mr. Lane, here are all the projects from Titan Corporation. I have acquired most of them.”

“Alright.” Xavier accepted the documents.

“Mr. Lane, we need to go to the hospital this afternoon to receive your last treatment. Then, your memories should recover entirely by then.”

When Xavier heard that, he thought about what Jeremiah said again. He also remembered how Yvette had written a letter for him before she’d left him in the past.

“Cancel all treatments. We’re not going to see any of them in the future.”

Mark couldn’t help but be surprised. “Why?”

“Why have you been asking so many questions recently?” Xavier asked instead.

Mark immediately stopped talking after that. Then, he left with the completed documents.

Xavier felt extremely depressed. He thought about how Yvette had never liked him and how she’d liked Jeremiah instead.

Other than composing music at home, Yvette would talk to Viola every day. She had no idea that Xavier had regained his memories.

received a call.

Terrence drunkenly said from the other side of the call, “Yvette, please see Jeremiah, alright? I’m begging

you.”
