Chapter 75
Daphne looked down at the little boy clinging to her legs. She narrowed her eyes discreetly, bent down, and smiled warmly.
âYep, thatâs me. Why are you here on your own, little one? Where are your parents?â
She gazed at the child in front of her, noting his wellâdefined features and mesmerizing eyes. It was obvious that his parents werenât ordinary people.
Zachary looked up at her innocently and said solemnly, âMy housekeepers said you took my daddy away from me. Can you please give my daddy back to me?â
Daphne stiffened. The socialites around them couldnât help but glance over, and their eyes were filled with disdain. People like them detested those rising starlets the most.
âHow shameless!â
âShe already has Mr. Lane, but sheâs still seducing other men?â
âNo wonder Mr. Lane didnât Marry her. A woman like her is only good for fooling around with.â
Daphne felt utterly humiliated. suppressing her boiling anger, she crouched down and looked straight into Zacharyâs eyes. âYou must be mistaken, little one. I donât know you, and I donât know your father.â After saying that, she leaned closer to Zachary and placed her hands on his shoulders. Lowering her voice, she threatened him.
âYou little brat, if you spout any more nonsense, Iâll use you as fish food. Got it?â
Daphne had assumed that he was just another child, but little did she know that Zachary was a drama king as well.
The next thing she knew, he started to hit her hands vigorously and sobbed, âI was wrong, maâam. Please donât pinch me! It hurts so muchâ¦â
She hastily let go of him. âWhen did I pinch you? There were reporters present who quickly recorded
the scene.
Tears streamed down his cheeks as he apologized. âIâm sorry, maâam. I didnât mean to touch you. Please donât hit me or use me as bait to feed the fishâ¦â
Daphne wished she could cover his mouth. âI didnât! Heâs lying!â she desperately tried to explain
herself.
More and more people looked over. Among them was Tristan, who was forced to meet another woman. He recognized the child at a glance. It was the little rascal who had pulled a prank on him at Imperial Heights.
The woman beside him spoke up, âHow could she lay her hands on a child? That womanâs terrible!â
Tristan recalled that the kid could be his illegitimate child, so he couldnât let him get beaten. Hence, he hurried over.

Zachary was about to continue with his performance to make Daphneâs true colors the headline story
tomorrow.
However, he hadnât expected to see an imposing figure striding toward him. What was that bad guy doing here?
âI messed up!â Zachary cursed inwardly. He was too short, and there were too many people around them, so he failed to notice that Tristan was there as well.
âPlease donât be mad at me, maâam. Iâll leave you alone now,â he said before dashing away.
If he hadnât been messed with by this kid before, Tristan might have believed that the kid was truly leaving. But based on how quickly he ran away, he knew that the kid had spotted him.
As soon as he thought about the humiliation he had been through in the hotel and the news articles â that followed, there was no way he could let the kid get away so easily, even if he was his son. He had
to teach the boy a good lesson about respecting his elders!
Zachary knew that he needed to run toward crowded places. Tristan couldnât chase him through the crowd, but he had plenty of ways to deal with a little brat.
He immediately called his bodyguards over and asked, âDid you see that kid?â He pondered for a moment before saying, âLet him run loose for now and catch him in an hour.â
