Y/N'S POV-
7 stitches and a bandage later and I wouldn't go as far as saying I'm good as new but I feel a lot better. Ravi was a huge help.. he is an ex-gladiator who has dedicated the rest of his time to being a medic for people like us. He looks tough but he has the sweetest personality
When he finished I decided to take myself on a wander. It's been ages since I've been free to go where I please. I start to explore through the corridors until I turn the corner and slam straight into someone's chest. They grab me to stop me from falling back. It was General Acasius
Y/N- "I'm so sorry- oh General Acasius"
A- "Hello Y/N.. just the person I am looking for"
Y/N- "What do I owe the pleasure?"
He sighs
A- "They told me to come and fetch you for the second game.. I'm sorry, the rest will be waiting for you at the colloseum"
With all this drama, the second game today had completely slipped my mind.
He must have seen the disappointment in my face as he slips a small blade into my hand.
A- "If you need to protect yourself use this"
Why is he helping me?? What have I done to deserve it?
Y/N- "Thank you Acasius.. I'm ready"
I follow Acasius to the colloseum and join the others. Hanno comes over and wraps his arms around me
H- "I have been so worried. Are you okay??" He starts to check me over looking at my back
I start to laugh
Y/N- "Hanno.. I'm fine. Calm down" i only just notice what we are actually standing on.. is this a boat??
Y/N- "What's this about??"
He just shrugs and stands up on one of the boxes to project his voice to all the men
H- "We all need to work together! It's the only way we will get this boat going. Just like we did before"
Y/N- "But this time our lives actually depend on it" I quietly moan
It was the same routine as the previous game. I heard the emperors names being announced and the crowd cheering- I couldn't help but smile a little but then I got hit with a wave of guilt. These people who I have been enjoying spending time with have hurt people deeply including Hanno. What does that say about me?
Before I could gather my thoughts or even my weapons the gate starts raising and the water starts flooding through
?- "The Barbarians of Numidida!!"
Our boat suddenly connects with the flow of the stream and carries us out into the colosseum. The crowd cheers even louder.
Across from us is another ship sailing the water but there is about a douzen highly trained guards steering it instead. I feel the vibrations of a knock to the ship so I look down trying to find the source and that's when I feel sick to my stomach. Sharks.. Hungry blood-thirsty sharks circling our ship
I rush to Hanno and he can sense the fear in my eyes
Y/N- "You better have a plan"
H- "I do don't worry.. here have this" he passes me an axe, it feels better finally having a proper weapon in my hand
H- " The best chance we have is if we cut their boat off down the side"
All the men murmur comments about Hanno being crazy
H- "Trust me! We need to start rowing"
I loose my temper and raise my axe in the air. How could they not listen to him in a situation like this?
Y/N- "Do as he says! Or ill have no problem giving the sharks their food"
The men take one look at my serious face and then do as they are told. They start rowing the ship and Hanno directs it towards the other ship. Everything was going great until they started shooting arrows at us. Its not fair that they get weapons that would give them an advantage. One of the arrows lands in a man's chest and he topples over the side of the ship. I watch as the Sharks devour him in one bite and the blood seeping into the surrounding water. I cover my mouth in shock
We finally manage to row over to the other ship and Hanno calls out
H- "Turn now!!"
We turn the ship abruptly and the plan works. We scrape the side of their ship up but we also got stuck which brings them both to a hault. This was not part of the plan
H- "Grab your weapons and fight!!"
I look up and see Geta smirking at us. Our only option now was to fight and that's what we did for as long as we could.
I notice in the corner of my eye while I was pulling my sword out one of the guards neck that Hanno had grabbed one of their crossbows and he was pointing it straight towards where Acasius and the Emperors were sat. I don't know what came over me. I leapt toward him and knocked his arm just as he shot the arrow. I feel my heart literally stop beating for a moment. Luckily the arrow had landed between the emperors chairs but it was a close call. Emperor Geta's face filled with rage at the attempted assasination and belted out
G- "PRAETORIAN" which marked the end of the game
Why did you have to do that Hanno?
