Y/N's Pov-
I'm struggling to remember anything after that point as I start to fade in and out of consciousness. My ears still pick up the faint sound of screams occasionally and I can feel the coldness of the floor of which I am lay across. This doesn't make any sense. Why didn't they just kill me? It wouldnt have been particularly hard to..
About twenty minutes later, my eyes finally open and they are met with a warm glow around me that creates a burning sensation in my eyes as they were so adjusted to the dark. Suddenly it hits me that this was no ordinary light. It was light from the flames that were engulfing the bodies of dead soldiers from Numidia. People I had know, people I had fought beside all gone..
I looked beside me and saw Hanno crouched on his knees. He looked devastated yet so angry at the same time- I have never seen him like this. After a while I pluck up the courage to say "Hanno- I'm so-" before being interrupted by the general who was stood before us. This is not at all what I expected him to look like- he looked unusually sad..
"I claim this land for the greatness of Rome" he bellowed out. This is what the war was for?! So Rome could claim more subjects? More power?. Hanno must have saw the expression on my face change to anger as he placed his hand on my arm in an attempt to calm me down. The people of Numidia were sat worshiping them, after everything they did!
I lept to my feet and started walking over to where the general was standing. Hanno close behind me on my heals. I made it a fair way before soldiers drew their sword and held it against my neck. I must have caught the generals attention as he started to walk towards me curiously. "Is there a problem here?"
I didn't know how to react so i just laughed
Y/N- "What do you think? My people are dead at your feet! And for what?!"
I try to move my arms but the realisation hits in that they are chained behind my back
A soldier turns to the general and whispers in his ear. He looks at me and I swear I saw him smile a little.
A- "Get these two to the boat"
And that is the last I heard from him.
Two soldiers came over and started pulling me and Hanno along with a few others towards a cart. We both struggled but there were too many of them to make a difference so I just gave in and accepted my fate. There was a long journey ahead of us and I was not willing to give up yet.
