Y/N's pov-
I've fought before.. many many times but never like this. Certainly not for people's amusement especially. All the men around me either look confused or worried except Hanno. He doesn't look surprised or frightened at all. I feel like he is hiding something from me...
A loud voice rose out of the sea of noise and startled me a bit.
?- "Welcome everyone! Macrinus has set up a little game for everyone's amusement so please give it up for the barbarians of Numidia!"
Barbarians? Is that seriously what people think of us?
I let myself get lost in my thoughts for a second until my attention gets pulled out by a sound much worse than the people's laughter or that dreadful voice calling us barbarians. Was that? No it couldn't be.. Monkeys??
Y/N- "Hanno.... do you hear that????"
H- "stick together Y/N"
I give him a reassuring nod. These crazy people do realise we aren't going to stand a chance with out hands tied behind our backs..
I get into position and watch as the gate slowly lifts up. In a matter of time the ring fills up with about a dozen crazed savage monkeys. They start to circle us and one is stood looking directly at me.
I improvise and come up with the only thing logical.
Y/N- "remember that thing we practiced- I think now may be a good time to use it"
H- "Now??.... okay" he kneels down and cups his hands near the floor
I don't wait a second longer and run towards him using his hand as a launch pad and jumping through the air. I managed to grab the head of a monkey and flip before slamming it's head into the ground when I land.
The crowd gasped and I could see a man intently staring at us. Hanno chuckles
H- "it's been a while"
We fought the monkeys until one by one they were all dead. We lost a few men in the process but a lot of us still survived. Hanno fought off a monkey by biting it's arm. I don't think he will ever live that down. At the end the crowd start to cheer and clap. I hate to admit it, but it kind of feels nice to be admired. It's like your somehow special.. to someone.
The man who was closely watching us rises from his seat and smiles.
M- "I'll buy them but I especially want those two" my jaw almost drops when his fingers move to point to us.
