“What happened to him?” Xavier asked as the doctor after we rushed Damien into the pack clinic. The pack’s doctor went ahead to explain to him that for now the cause of the sudden breakdown hasn’t been know because, his all vital are working fine.

“Baby…” he tried to hold my hand and I removed awaifrom his embrace, I was too tired to even think of picking a fight with him.

I requested that Damien be moved to another room so I could stay with my son while he receives treatment, I sat with him holding his hands as my eyes stung with tears.

How could I be so careless to leave my son all by himself in this pack. I noticed the door open and I could feel his presence as he moved towards me.

I’m sorry this had to happen to Damien, I will tighten the security…” he trailed and I rolled my eyes.

“You can do whatever you want to do for the benefit of the pack, but I am leaving this place with my son immediately he regains his consciousness” I said angrily.

“It has not gotten to that.” he said and I stared at him in disbelief.

“Are you serious right now?” I asked and he stared at me calmly.

“Rachel we don’t really know what happened to Damien, it is not my fault neither is it your fault he said and that seem to annoy me more.

“Then who’s fault is it? the universe?” I asked angrily as my heart squeezed with hurt.

“Putting blames on each other would not help in anyway. You know this would not have happened if I was around him” he said and I stared at him quietly.

“Forgive me, forgive my pack” he said and he held my hands. I can’t leave this pack, especially not now that I’m so close to archieving my goals.

“I’m sorry I reacted so harshly, you know am worked up” I said and he k*ssed my forehead.

“It’s my duty to understand you as your man” he said and I tried to control my anger.

I am still very pis sed off at this moment with all this is happening. I just want to burn down this whole pack, am sick of how slow this game is going.

“I will be right back” Xavier said as he left, I sat next to Damien quietly.

“Rachel” I heard Derrick’s voice as he walked into the room quietly, helooked really scared and sad.

“What happened?” I asked and he opened his mouth to say something only for tears to roll down from his eyes.

“Hey come here” I said opening my arms wide for him and he ran into my arms as he

cried.

“What happened?” I asked again and he snuggled into me as he cried.

“Derrick” I called again and he cried.

“Is Damien going to be alright?” he asked staring at Damien innocently.

“Yes, he is going to be alright. Where have you been?” I asked and bit his lower l*p.

“Damien and I were playing in the garden area when….” he trailed and I suddenly became interested in what he was saying.

“When..” I said urging him to talk.

“I saw who hurt Damien Rachel” he said and I tried my best to control the anger boiling in the pit of my stomach.

“Who hurt him?” I asked and he took a deep breath in and out.

“Aunt Maggie” Derrick said and I froze in shock.

Aunt Maggie? How was that even possible. It’s not like I trusted anyone from Xavier’s pack, but why on Earth would aunt Maggie try to hurt my son.

“Derrick are you sure of what you just said?” I asked and he gave a nod.

“I saw her” he said and it was evident in his eyes that he was saying the truth. This just made me realize just how much I needed to be careful in the pack.

I thought Lina hurt him, she was the only one I suspected would do something like that. But Aunt Maggie was the least person on my mind.

“Please don’t tell anyone I told you Rachel, amso scared” he said and I understood why he was scared, it was because of the way Lina threatened him in the past.

“Exactly, Aunt Maggie is not a kid she is capable of anything. If she hurts you I won’t be able to forgive myself I said and he cried.

“I was so scared when I saw it happen” he said and I hugged him.

“First it was aunt Lina, and now aunt Maggie” he said and I could literally feel his fragile. heart break in pieces.

“Listen to me Derrick, do you trust me?” I asked and he stared at him calmly.

“I trust you Rachel” he said and I gave a nod.

“We can’t tell Daddy okay” I said and he stayed quiet for a while. I need to make things. clear to him, before he ends up getting even more confused.

“Daddy Is the Alpha, we need to tell him in other to protect all of us” he said and I understood his thoughts.

“I know son, but that doesn’t change the fact that Daddy loves and trusts aunt Maggie. We can’t tell him something without a proof” I said and he gave a nod.

“I understand Rachel, I will keep it a secret” he said and I smiled.

XAVIER POV?

“Someone hurt Rachel’s son Jayden and none of you can account for it!” I bursted angrily as the soldiers bowed their head in shame.

The CCTV cameras could not even capture what happened to him, how am I supposed to trust you guys with my sons and girlfriend!” I bursted angrily.

“We sincerely apologise Alpha Xavier Jayden said calmly.

“Apologising would not solve anything.. y son got hurt in this same pack and no one could account for it. Now Rachel’s son got hurt none of you can account for it too” I bursted angrily and walked away in anger.

I ran my fingers in my hair as my eyes stung with unshed tears. What am I going to do?? Things have been turning upside down for the past five years but they seem to be getting worse as the days go by,

I took a deep breath in and out as I made my way into the pack house again.Taking slow strides into the room, my eyes fell on Derrick sleeping soundly in Rachel’s arms while Damien slept on the bed.

“Hey” I said and she stared at me exhaustedly.

“Hey babe” she said and I walked over to her then k*ssed her forehead.

“I’m sorry” I whispered as I sat on the bed.

“For what?” she asked and I sighed.

“For not being there for all of you, it is my duty as your man to protect y’all” I said and she smiled..

“Damien is going to be alright, Derrick has been really worried about him and I don’t want him to see us worried too” she said and my heart warmed up.

She is not his biological mother, yet she have enough love to share. I sat down on the bed next to Damien as my eyes moved over to her again she raised her eyebrows.

“What?” she asked with a smile on her face.

It’s nothing” I said calmly.

“It’s definitely something, you can’t just stare at me like that and tell me it is nothing” she said playfully.

“You are a good woman Rachel” I said and she laughed.

“Thanks” she said as she laughed.

“I am serious” I said and she smiled.

“I can see you are serious” she said and I gave a nod. We stayed with the kids for some time and she ended up spend the night with them

“I should get you dinner” I said and she stared at me.

“I’m not hungry” she said quietly as she looked away.

“Are you sure you ain’t hungry? I should just go ahead and get you something to eat I said and she sighed.

“Xavier I am not hungry” she said and I shook my head negativity.

“I will be right back, there is no way am letting my woman sleep on an empty stomach” I said and made my way out of the room to get her something to eat.

“How is she doing?” Aunt Maggie asked immediately she see me walking towards the

kitchen.

She looks very sad and disturbed aunt, after Lina hurt Derrick, I did not think anyone was capable of hurting such a little kid. I expected better from the members of this pack” I said and she smiled.

“Don’t think too much about it, even the pack doctor said he doesn’t know what happened to him right? maybe the kid was just stressed out” Aunt said and I sighed.

“He is a kid, what could be stressing him out?” I asked and she stared at me calmly.

“Just don’t think too much about it” she said and I gave a nod.

“Thanks Mom” I said and she smiled.

“You are welcome son” she said and walked out of the kitchen. When I was done. cooking. I walked walked to the room with the meal I prepared for Rachel.

When I got in, she just walked out of the bathroom wearing a comfortable night wear. My eyes moved over to the bed and Derrick was sleeping next to Damien.

“Hey” she said when she noticed my presence in the room.

“I brought you dinner” I said and she watched me place it on the table.

“Babe I told you not to bother too much about it” she said and I held her hand.

“Today had been very stressful for you, I would be a fool to watch you go to bed on an empty stomach” I said and she smiled.

“You are the sweetest” she said and she k*ssed me on the l*ps.

“Join me” she said and I smiled.

I made it specially for you” I said and she shook her head.

“You are my special person” she said and I smiled as I sat down with her.
