EMERALD POV?

The past few days have been really hectic for me, Xavier became very suspicious after Gabriel Fernández came to see me at the hospital. If not for the incident, I don’t know the perfect excuse to have given to the brooding Alpha. After all am not supposed to be close to his enemies in the first place.

I called Gilbert to refrain from calling me for the main time before we get into further trouble. Right now I was on my way to Jax’s house to talk about our plans with his mother. The earlier we start talking about it the better for all of us, I have this strong hunch that Xavier would find out soon and I really wanted to be prepared for the worse thing that could happen.

“Good evening ma’am” I said as she gestured for me to take a seat, I looked around the house trying to make sure everything was okay.

“How are you fairing? I heard what happened to you” she said and I sighed.

“I wasn’t expecting the attack, but am pretty sure it was one of Xavier’s enemies” I said. and the woman looked really worried for me.

“This is exactly why I feel like they are cursed, his father brought me nothing but trouble and now being involved with Xavier almost cost you your life. You should be very careful.” she advised and I saw reasons with her.

“Rachel is not dumb mom, this woman is smarter than you think. I believe she knows what she is doing” Jax said as he sat on the opposite chair.

“I have plans on taking over the pack, but not as the Alpha. I want to ruin what Carlos has worked years for, I want to ruin the pack that made him hurt and ruin innocent lives.” I said and she sighed.

“Carlos, the man was as cruel as the devil. But nothing compares to the devil’s daughter Maggie” she said and I raised my eyebrows.

“Maggie?” I asked curiously.

I knew something was off about Aunt Maggie when I found out she hurt Damien. What would make a middle aged woman like her hurt a five year old, if she isn’t a psychopath.

“Maggie is one of the worse things to have happened to the pack. I worked with the family long enough to know all her d*rty secrets, I would have not be in the land of the living if I didn’t run away from the pack house and retire working as a maid” she said. and I felt shocked.

My eyes moved over to her wheelchair and she gave a nod.

“Jeez” I gasped as my hand went over to my mouth.

The more revelation I got about the d*rty secrets of the pack house, the more my heart. ached.

“I had to leave before they find out how much I knew already” she said and I gave a nod.

“Maggie and Carlos used to have an affair, she shamelessly f ucked the man even up until his death” she said and I froze.

I could not wrap my head around the fact that the ever sweet Maggie was that cruel, how does she manage to play her game so smoothly.

“Carlos was basically her sisters husband for goodness sake” I said and Jax chuckled.

“Sleeping with him should already give you the impression that she cared less” he said and I couldn’t agree more, it was quiet obvious.

“What do you intend to do?” she asked and I rubbed my forehead.

“Xavier’s enemies seem to be increasing day by day…” I trailed..

“How about you keep an eye on Jayden?” Jax asked.

“Why should I keep my eyes on Xavier’s best friend? We have a lot of things to do not watch the guys best friend” I said and Jax smirked..

“When I say you need to keep your eyes on Jayden, do it and thank me later he said. and I took a deep breath in and out. Whatever he must have discovered about Xavier’s best friend most be suspicious, what else would be the reason for him to ask me specifically to keep my eyes on Jayden?

We talked about some important things before I decided to call it a day, making a m ental note to keep my eyes on Jayden.

Making my way into the pack house, I met Xavier talking to his aunt and some men.

“Hey baby” I said and made my way over to them. Aunt Maggie forced a smile on her face as she looked to my direction before focusing on the other men.

Xavier sn*ked his hand around my waist and focused on talking to the people. After some time he dismissed them and turned his attention to me.

“What where you guys talking about?” I asked and he smiled.

“Just pack stuffs, I missed you” he said and k*ssed my l*ps, we k*ssed for a minute before breaking it.

“Where have e you been? I was looking for you” he said as we walked towards our room. together.

“Decided to walk around the pack, you guys have such a beautiful place” I said and he laughed.

“You say it like you are used to the werewolf life” he said teasingly.

“I’m dating the Alpha remember I said and he laughed.

“I love the way you blend into my world” he said as he hugged me from behind. I felt a bit guilty for the lies I was telling, it felt like every moment with him gave birth to more lies. I didn’t even know how to control them anymore.

“Babe” he called and I snapped my head over to his direction.

“Is everything okay?” he asked worriedly.

“Yes everything is fine, I just had my mind somewhere else” I said and he walked over to me and raised my chin up making my eyes met his.

“I have been talking to you for few minutes now, and it felt like you had your mind somewhere else” he said and I opened and closed my mouth immediately, it was useless trying to defend myself.

“It has been a long time since we spent time together, how about I treat you to dinner?” he asked and I smiled.

“What if I say no?” I asked teasingly.

“I’m sure my girlfriend would not say no to her man” he said and pecked my l*ps softly and I chuckled as I move my hands around his n*eck as we k*ssed each other hungrily. His phone rang and we broke the k*ss immediately.

“Hold on, let me take this” he said and he walked out to take the phone call.

My mind kept racing as I tried to think of when and how to keep my eyes on Jayden, I need to be really careful because if he is involved in the terrible things happening in the pack, he would not just be a threat to my life but even my children.

I took a deep breath in and out then sat on the chair quietly wondering what exactly had prompted Aunt Maggie to sleep with her sisters husband consistently even until the man’s death. What was a motive? was it because she wanted to be pack Luna or she had something entirely different in mind.

? XAVIER POV?

“I know, I just hope everything is prepared for the date with my woman” I said to Jayden and he chuckled..

“You are so whipped man” he said teasingly and I chuckled.

“Fall inlove and discover just how much Rachel means to me, she completes me. How would you understand how I feel when you still haven’t showed me your mystery woman ?” I teased and he laughed.

“I will inform you and make she sure I personally introduce her to you, when the time is right” he said and I smiled.

“Thanks for standing by me, you are a friend indeed” I said and we talked about pack. duties for a while.

“You are taking mom out on a date? What would Derrick and I be doing at home?” Damien asked pouting cutely.

“I just need to tell mummy something very important” I said and they both stared at me. with eyebrows raised.

“And you can’t tell her that in front of us? have we been bad kids?” Derrick asked. curiosity.

“No…..you guys are the sweetest thing that ever happened to your mom and I” I said and that made sense. Although I lost X construction, I don’t know what I would have done if I lost any of my kids or even Rachel. Damien might not be my biological son but the way I feel about him is exactly the same way I feel about Derrick. We just have this strong father and son connection.

“I promise we would go on our own outing soon. But first I need to take mummy out” I said and they screamed excitedly.

“Yeah”

I helped Rachel tuck them in bed before I made my way towards my room to get ready. When I got there she walked out of the dressing room looking breathtakingly beautiful.

“You are staring with your mouth wide open” she said teasingly.

“You are worth it baby” I said and she smiled.

“Go get ready, that is if you want us to still go out” she said and I give a nod.

I got out after some minutes and she looked at me with a bright smile on her face.

“You wasted time Xavier” she said and I chuckled lighty.

“I did?” I asked and we both laughed as we made our way out of the pack house. together.

Gabriel’s house }

“Yes, I have a business meeting with my clients from Texas tommorow by 8:00 AM in the morning “Gabriel said to his personal assistant as he made his way down from the stairs clad and in a black sweat pants and polo shirt.

“Just make the arrangements and get back to me before tommorow morning” he said. and gave some more instructions before cutting the call.

His mind went over to his last encounter with Rachel and he is f uckin pis sed off, he made his way into the sitting room and that is when the lights went on and off.

Gabriel looked around the sitting room suddenly getting anxious. What the hell is going on?

“Maids!” he called and no one was answering him. He took deep breaths in and out trying his best not to freak out.

The lights went totally down and when they finally camr on, he met someone sitting on the stool in his private bar while drinking from a bottle of alcohol.

“You” he said in shock

“Gabby, Gabby, Gaby, It is been a while” he said and Gabriel stag gered backward a little.

“Whhhh……..at do you want from me….I….” he trailed and froze when the person at the other end pointed a gun straight at his head.

“You need to die” he said smirking.
