Emerald hasn’t been talking to me ever since the truth came out. Now when I look at it, a lot of things have changed about her, I no longer know how to think or what to say around her.

The kids got discharge from the hospital and she take a leave from work to take care of

them.

I walked into the room and she was on my bed scrolling through her phone. Her eyes meet mine and she stand up, I walk pass her and drop my suit jacket on the couch.

“We need to talk Xavier” she said and my eyes moved over to her without saying anything.

“Interesting, you finally want to talk” I said with arms folded and she stared at me in disbelief.

“I don’t have the strength to exchange words with you Xavier, I just want to let you know that I would be leaving your pack officially with my kids” she said and I chuckled bitterly.

“Leaving the pack with your kids?” I asked as I chuckled bitterly. Is she trying to pis s me off on purpose or hear the words I have to say in return.

“You heard me the first time, I don’t think I should repeat myself” she said and walk over to her.

“They are not just your kids Emerald, they are mine too and you don’t have the rights. to make decisions like that without my consent” I said in a dangerous tone and she stared at me with a bit of nervousness in her eyes.

“What are you trying to prove? That you are a good father” she asked mockingly.

“Asking me what am trying to prove is just baseless at this point because, am not proving anything. After all, proving my love for you did not stop you from burning down my company and shattering my heart into a million pieces” I said and she stared at me with tears in her eyes.

“It makes me even more angry when you make it sound like am the bad person here. Xavier. For years, I stood by you, I loved you and gave you everything I had to offer… my b*dy, my time and attention” she said and I walk closer to her.

“And you think I didn’t give my all into this thing we share? I gave my time to us Rachel !”

Chapter 75

“Hell!” I cursed under my breath as pain spread through my chest.

“I don’t know how to look at you without feeling some sought resentment for what you did to me but, that doesn’t mean I haven’t hurt you in the past” I said and she look away.

“We can’t call things off because of the kids, they don’t deserve any of that” I said and she stared at me.

“Using the kids as an excuse is just another way of you being Xavier” she said and I took two steps backwards.

“So what do you want to do? Break up with me?” I asked calmly and she just stared at me tongue tied.

“I don’t care what is running through your head right now Emerald, but this is not ending anytime soon. If you can’t stay for the kids, you are free to leave I won’t stop you” I said and made my way towards the bathroom.

When I got out from the bathroom I lay down on the bed and tried to get some sleep, which felt impossible because my head is filled with different thought.

My eyes moved over to Emerald sleeping soundly on the bed and then moved over to her celling as I think of different ways to get to the bottom of everything.

The next morning, I went to check on the kids before making my way to the address I had texted Lina to meet up with me secretly. I know there is possibility of her lying to me. But then, I need to start with something no matter how small.

“Alpha Xavier” she said as she walked over to me, I could see the nervousness on her

face.

“Lina” I said and she looked around if anyone was behind.

“Get into the car, we need to

talk” I said and she entered into the car with me.

“I heard what happened and I don’t know what to say” she said calmly.

“News spread like wild fire” I said softly and she give a nod.

“How are they?” she asked and I knew she was asking after Derrick and Damien.

“They are healing pretty fast” I said and she give a nod.

“That is good news, I’m sorry things happened the way they did” she said and I noticed. a lot of changes in Lina.

“I want to know what happened five years ago Lina, why did you lie about the murderer??” I asked and she knew exactly what I was trying to say.

“Alpha…” she trailed in shock.

“I knew you lied Lina, am not trying to get you punished for anything. I just want to know the truth so I can move on with my life” I said and stared at me.

“Revealing the truth would put my life in danger Alpha Xaiver, you don’t understand” she said as she cried.

“I’m here to protect you, am here to make sure everything is ok” I said and she stared at

me.

“Everything Is not what it looks like Alpha Xavier, your enemy is close than you ever imagined” she said and I stared at her.

“Emerald did not kill Carlos, she was accused of murder” Lina said and my heart froze.

“Xavier would not let me leave with the kids Penelope, he made that very clear in our last conversation” I said and Penny stared at me with a worried expression on her face.

“He still wants you in his life after everything that happened. Using the excuse of being the mother of his children is definitely the lamest excuse I have heard in a while” she said with a chuckle.

“So what do you intend to do?” She threw the question back at me.

“I’m staying for the kids” I said and she just stared at me without saying anything.

“What is up with Dad?” I asked and she sighed.

“He had been pis sed off ever since the truth got out” she said and I frowned.

“Is that enough reason for him not check up on my kids?” I asked in hurt.

“I don’t know what to say babe” she said and I looked away.

“I’m going to give him a piece of my mind once all of this is over” I said and she give a nod

“You know I’m going to support you with whatever decision you end up making” she said and I didn’t know what to say.

“You love Dad” I said and she sniffed back tears.

“You are going to break up with him?” I asked her, and she give a nod.

“Yes, I believe he already knows” she said and I just pulled her into my arms in a bone. crushing hug.

“We should check on the boys” I said and we both walked towards the kids room.

“Hey Aunt penny” Damien said as he got down from the bed and hugged her in excitedly.

“Heyyyyyyy” Derrick waved shyly.

“You must be Derrick” she said and he give a shy nod.

“Awwwn he is so cute” Penny said as she bonded with the kids.

My phone rang and it was Jax, I excused myself from them and walked towards the bathroom to pick up the call.

“Jax” I said immediately I picked up the call

“I think Lina snitched on us” he said and I froze.

“What do you mean by you think she snitched on us?” I asked and he began to explain.

“I think the Alpha Xaiver is trying to find out who the true murderer is from Lina, and she is telling him everything” he said and I freeze in shock.

“Jeez” I cursed under my breath. A lot of things is happening so fast that I fee like nothing was under my control anymore.

The worse is yet to come.
