I watch as she sleep in my arms and I play with her hair, my heart race at the different thoughts that filled my mind.

Can I still trust Emerald after everything that has happened? She seems to be remorseful about the steps she took in the past that hurt me.

I think I also took steps that hurt her in the past and I should not take what she had done to heart, after all we can’t do this without each other.

“What is on your mind?” I heard her sweet voice that made me turn towards her with a smile on my face.

“It’s nothing” I said and she snuggle closer to me.

“I thought we promise that there will be no secrets between us?” she ask with a smile on her face.

“I was thinking about us” I said and she raised her eyebrows in my direction.

“Thinking about us? Is everything okay?” she ask and I give a nod.

“Everything is fine my love, I am just worried thinking about the way things would turn out from now onwards. I’m scared’ I said voicing out my fears and she held my hand. lovingly.

“Nothing would happen to us, not now not ever” she said and I give a nod.

“You need to be careful about a lot of persons around you. Jayden is not your only enemy” she said, and for some reason I felt like hearing who the enemy is would break me beyond repair.

“Nothing suprises me anymore, I just feel like even the kids are not safe here in the pack” I said and she gives a nod.

“What do you think we should do?” Emerald asked with a concerned expression on her

face.

“I think we should send them away for the main time, at least until all this comes to an end” I said and she nods her head positively agreeing to what am saying.

“The problem is, I don’t really have anyone I can trust aside from my best friend Penelope” she said calmly.

“The one dating your dad?” I asked with concern.

“Their relationship hit the rock recently, she found out dad has another intimate relationship outside what they share” she said calmly.

“That must have been really heartbreaking for her” I said and Emerald give a nod in agreement.

“Penny has been nothing but good to my dad, I see no reason why he acted like that” she said and I can sense the anger in her voice.

“We need to talk to Penny then, that is if she is interested in leaving to another country with the kids. At least untill this whole issue dies down” I said and she give a nod.

“I will arrange a meeting with her Emerald said and I nod. I secretly have my plans on how to get Jayden.

I did not want to make any move now or he might just get the hint that am after him and then, decide to get off the hook before we set the trap.

It hurts that our friendship have to come to an end in such a way, but then, I have realize that the guy did not care about me in any way. He was just a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

The next morning, Emerald invited Penny over and we decided to meet in my chambers because at this point, the pack house does not feel safe anymore.

“Welcome to my chamber miss Penelope” I said and her eyes move over from me to Emerald, then back to me.

“Good morning Mr Jason, thanks for the invitation’ she said as I gesture to her to sit on the couch opposite the one I am sharing with Emerald.

“You guys seem pretty close” she said teasingly.

“Before you ask more questions, Xavier and I have decided to forget about everything. that has happened in the past and move on with our lives, together” Emerald said and placed her hand on mine.

A small smile formed on my l*ps as I turned towards Penelope, who has the biggest smile on her l*ps.

“I said it, things would not have gotten to this point if we left this game and focused on true happiness” Penny said and Emerald chuckled.

“As you know miss Penelope, a lot of things are happening around here due to the enemies of the pack who wants to claim ownership and if possible, make our lives a living hell” I said and Penny stared at me curiously.

“I was thinking if you could go for a vacation with both the boys to somewhere far and

safe, at least up until this drama dies off” I said and she turned towards her best friend.

“Penny I know a lot of things haven’t been going in the right direction for you lately, bu this is the time where I need your help more than anything else in the world’ Emerald said as she joined her hands with hers.

“Please Penny” she said and Penelope cried.

“Hey… I’ve got you Rachel, I had plans of leaving anyways the kids can just go with me. for the main time until all of this dies down” she said and relief washed over me.

“Thank you so much Penny, I really appreciate your kindness towards us it means a lot” 1 said as Emerald hugged her.

“Damien and Derrick are my kids too remember’ she said and we both chuckled.

“I did not want the departure to take time, so I figured it is best if Penny and the kids leave the today” I dropped the bomb.

“Now? Babe we haven’t even told the kids yet. I still need to time to be me ntally prepare and at least Emerald said and I could hear the panick in her voice and the fear of

separation.

“What exactly are you scared of? We would not risk having the kids hear with us baby. Something bad might happen and we might not be here to protect them…” I trailed softly as I held her with love as she cried.

“Xav…” she trailed as I pulled her in my arms and rubbed her back softly.

We both walked towards the kids room together so she could talk to them and Penny joined us.

“Mummy!” they screamed in excitement.

“Hey champs, can I talk to my babies” she asked and they both stared at her then Derrick chuckled.

“You don’t need to ask for our permission before speaking to us mummy” Derrick said and that made her more emotional, I placed my hand on her shoulder as she sniffed.

“Is everything okay Daddy? Why is mom crying?” Damien asked in concern.

“It’s nothing mummy just has something in her eyes okay’ she said wiping her tears.

“That is what you always say when you are hurt. It’s okay to cry sometimes mummy” Damien said and she hugged him.

“Mummy wants you and Derrick to to on a vacation with aunt Penny for now okay” she said and they both stared at with curiosity written all kver their faces.

“Are you and Daddy coming along too?” Derrick asked.

“For now?? No, Mummy and I have to stay back and handle important pack duties. But immediately we sought things here, we would come and join you guys” I said and they gave a nod.

“But we want to stay here with you and mummy” Damien said and I could sense Emerald shaking from the emotions that enveloped her.

“We would join you guys immediately we finish what we are doing over here, it is a promise” I said and they gave nods in agreement.

“Aunt Penny is fun to be with anyways, we will just go with her and wait for you and mummy to join us” Damien said with a bright smile on his face and we both chuckled.

“You boys are fun to be with too my babies” Penny said to them and Emerald asked the Nanny to pack up some of their clothes for the trip.

When it was time to leave, the boys got a bit emotional but we sent them anyways. Penny who wasn’t going to Emeralds place, but straight out of the city.

The least we want is to take chances that will cost us dearly.

“They’ll be fine” I said to Emerald as we both walked back inside together.

“I know, I’m just sad they have to leave” she said and we both smiled.

“What do you want to do now that things are happening so fast?” She asked with

concern.

“First of all, I want to make him pay for everything he put me through baby” I said and I don’t need to say more than that, because she already knew who I was talking about.

Jayden’s betrayal still hits deep when I think about it, he wont know what hit him when I get back at him.

“One step at a time my love” Emerald said with concern as she hold my hands
