PEMERALD POV?

After my intimate moment between Xavier and I the previous night, I decided to take care of him because I noticed he stayed awake for long. The man has a lot on his mind, and the need to protect his pack was the top on that list.

“What is on your mind?” I heard Xavier’s voice from behind as he engulfed me in a hug

“There is nothing on my mind, you are the one overthinking things” I said and he chuckled.

“Emerald, we might have separated for five years before coming back and mending the relationship we both share, but one thing am sure of is the fact that you care deeply and sometimes it hurts you” he said and I smiled softly.

“So tell me, what is bothering you?” he asked and my eyes glisten with unshed tears.

“You” I said and he stared at me in shock.

“Me? what did I do wrong? did I do or say anything bad?” he asked in one breath.

“I’m worried because, I don’t know what is running through your mind Xavier. You are in

my mind, and it hurts when you refuse to share things with me …” I trailed.

“You already know everything that is going on in my life right now, don’t you?” he asked calmly.

“Don’t use that as an excuse to avoid this conversation Xavier. We talk about different

things but you like hiding your pain to yourself. Last night after we made love, I noticed you didn’t sleep until the wee hours of the morning, I had to stay awake with you and listen to the silent sound of your cries” I said and his eyes widened as he stared at me.

“You heard me?” Xavier asked unable to hide his shock.

“I heard you, but have to pretend like I didn’t hear you. Do you know how much that hurt me?” I asked and he walked over to me.

“It is not as if I don’t trust you Emerald, you are one of the persons I trust more than anything else in the world. Infact, I can proudly say you are the only person I have right now because, I have no one else” he said and my heart squeezed in hurt.

“I don’t like the idea of you seeing me so vulnerable, it hurts me instead of mending my broken heart” he said and I held his hand.

“We made a promise to stand by each other even in trying times, and that is exactly

what I have in mind to stand by you and give you all the happiness in the world” I said and he smiled.

“Anytime I look at you, I see how unlucky I would have been if I lose you again. How will I have recovered?” he asked and I chuckled.

“Have you heard from the kids?” I asked and he shook his head.

“I think it is best not to contact them for the main time because, the best thing we can do for ourselves is to avoid them for now” he said and I gave a nod.

It is very difficult for a mother to be far away from her children, I was feeling their presence even in their absence and it pains me.

“I know you miss them a lot, don’t worry all of this would be over soon and we will come to the pack as a family” he said I smiled.

“I can’t wait” I said and we chuckled.

My eyes moved over to my ring and I held the finger where the ring was placed.

“What do you think?” he asked and I raised my eyebrows.

“Hmmn” I said immediately.

“You know what am driving at right? ” he said playfully.

“I don’t have the slightest idea of what you are driving at, so can you be more specific ?” I asked on purpose and he chuckled.

“Fine, what do you have in mind about my proposal?” he asked and I stared at him in shock.

“Xavier why do you even ….” I trailed and stopped when I noticed he was staring at me calmly.

“What is going on?” I asked and he held my

hand.

“Tell me if it is a genuine yes or no. It’s okay if you only said yes because you were planning a game in the past..” he trailed.

“That is not true. Although, I had motives in the past, but one of the thing that prompt me into finally accept this thing between us…is the fact that I still love you” I said and he walked closer.

“So we can still go ahead with the wedding planning?” I said and he k*ssed my forehead.

“Of course you should be preparing, I can’t wait to make you the official Luna of the

“I can’t wait to be married to my Alpha” I said and he k*ssed my forehead, which made a blush appear on my forehead.

“Happy married life” he whispered in my ears which made a blush appear on my cheeks

“We are so whipped” I said and I burst out laughing.

“Thank goodnessd you know” he said and I smiled.

We talked about random stuffs for a while before I decided to go check up on some one important stuffs.

I was on my way out of the pack house when I noticed Aunt Maggie making a serious phone call.

I had my suspicions about her, but seeing her in that deep conversation with who so ever was on the other end made me even more curious. I made a mental note to talk to Jax about it. Getting into the car, I drove towards Jax’s mother house.

“Welcome in Luna” she said and I stopped on my tracks as my eyes moved over to Lina with an apron around her waist.

I’m pretty sure she is trying to pick up the pieces of her life, after Jayden shattered her beyond repair.

“You are here Luna Emerald” she said and I just stared at her.

It’s not like I still held grudges against her, once bitten, twice shy. I will be a fool to completely trust her.

“Yeah, where is Jax?” I asked and his mom gestured towards the garden area. I walked towards the garden, and he was there trimming his mother’s flowers.

“Luna” he said in supirise.

“Jax” I said and he bowed in respect.

“Forget the formalities, we have a major problem” I said and he raised his eyebrows.

“Finally found who the enemy is ?” he asked curiously.

“As of now, I don’t know who the enemy truly is, but am suspecting someone” I said and he raised his eyebrows.

“Suspecting? And who is that person?” he asked and I sighed.

“Aunt Maggie, that woman might act all sweet but trust me, she is up to no good” I said and he sighed.

“She is not a good woman, mother know she had an affair with Carlos up until his death. So suspecting her is not a bad reasoning” he said and she raised her eyebrows.

“Do you think she has motives towards the pack?” he asked curiously.

“You don’t need to think twice before knowing she has impure motives towards the pack. After all, her son is a strong rival or Alpha Xaiver” he said and I frowned.

“She has a son? Why am I just hearing about her son?” I asked calmly.

“Because he was banished from the pack, he turned rouge and tried to claim ownership of the pack with a group of astray wolves…” he said explaining in detail.

“That must have been terrible” I said and he sighed.

“It was a hard season for everyone” he said reminiscing about the past.

“If wishes were horses, I will make sure everything goes back to normal. But then, wishes aren’t horses” he said and I couldn’t agree more.

We talked for a while before they invited me for dinner, after which I went back to the pack house with the mind of keeping a close eye on her.

My instincts have never failed me. For all we may, know she might be the real culprit” I said and he laughed.

“In as much as this sounds funny, it will break the Alpha beyond repair” he said and I didn’t know what to say.

He had not over come the loss of Jayden and the betrayal that follows, so talking about this was like putting salt on his wounds.

After dinner at the Jax’s, I went straight back to the pack house. Immediately he see me walking into the pack house, he stood up curiously.

“Babe” I said trying to hide the shock on my face.

“What are you up to?” he asked and that got me more worked up.

“You are still awake by this time?” I asked as I walked over to him, while hiding the fact that I am really worried.

“I’m awake because you aren’t back yet. What happened to you?” he asked and I smiled.

“Nothing happen to me, you worry too much” I said and he chuckled.
