Xavier stared at Emerald as she cried like her life depended on it, he walked over to her and held her hands in a supporting way.

“Why will anyone want to hurt Penny in that manner Xavier, she has done nothing to deserve such level of cruelty from anyone” Emerald said in between tears, as she choked on her tears as she cried.

“Sometimes bad things happen to good people, my love. Penny just happens to be a victim of such a tragedy of life.” Xavier said, as he held her hands lovingly.

“I can’t bear to see her so broken. Who could have done something so terrible to Penny. What about our wedding Xavier? Penny is supposed to be there with us as we tie the knot” Emerald said, as she burst into tears.

“I am so sorry….” he consoled her, as he rubbed her back soothingly.

At that point, even Xavier did not know how to feel or even what to say to console his mate. A lot of bad things were happening in the pack, just when they thought they had attained a level of peace and happiness.

“Have you called my dad?” Emerald asked, as she stared at Xavier curiously.

“I haven’t called him dear, I think it is best if I ask for your permission before taking such a step. After all, she is your best friend and your dad’s ex–lover “Xavier replied, and Emerald rubbed her forehead in frustration.

“Penny told me she was going to see my dad to end things with him properly, I can’t believe she didn’t go to him” Emerald said, and that made Xavier more curious.

“She told you that?” he asked, and Emerald nodded at her lightly as she looked away. Xavier wanted to ask if

Blake didn’t have a hand in the innocent woman’s accident.

“We have to go home, we have been here all day. I will get someone to keep watch over her” he said, and Emerald gave a nod as they walked out of the hospital together.

The ride back to the pack was a quiet one. Immediately we got in,aunt Maggie rushed over to them with a worried expression on her face.

“Is everything okay? Why does she look so stressed out and sad?” Aunt Maggie asked, before Xavier could say something Emerald shook her head negatively.

Emerald walked in her room restlessly. Something has to be done, why does it feel like what happened to Penny is a way to silence her friend? Someone is the mastermind of the whole thing, and she will be damned to let whoever was responsible go scot free.

Picking her phone from the bed, she texted Jax before making her way out of the room after changing into something comfortable.

“Luna” Jax greeted her Immediately he got to where she stood.

“What is running through your mind?” he asked calmly.

“Someone tried to kill Penny. As we speak, she is currently in a coma.” Emerald said, and Jax stared at her in shock.

“Isn’t Penny your best friend?” he asked Immediately.

“Yes, the last time I checked she doesn’t have any enemies and has tried to live a free life without any scandals or trouble. Whoever did this to her, is up to no good” Emerald said, angrily.

“Probably they were trying to silence her. It is pretty obvious she knows something we all don’t know” Jax said, and Emerald bit her lower lip.

“I’m so confused right now, I don’t know if I can go ahead with the wedding tomorrow…..” Emerald trailed sadly, as she hugged herself closely.

“What if this is actually a trap to try to stop the wedding tomorrow. You have to be strong and go ahead with the wedding” he said, and Emerald shook her head as she cried.

“I can’t”

“So what are you going to do?” Jax asked as he held her hand.

“What do you suggest I do?” Emerald asked Jax calmly.

“I will advise you to go ahead with the wedding and see how it turns out. I know that tomorrow is supposed to be your happiest day, but if you can’t go ahead with it I totally understand.” Jax said, and Emerald burst out crying, as he placed a hand on her shoulder to comfort her.

Getting back to the room, Xavier raised his eyebrows at her curiously.

“I want us to go ahead with the wedding tomorrow.” she said, and Xavier raised his eyebrows in shock.

“Babe …” he trailed in shock.

“Xav” she said, as she stood rooted on the spot.

“You have been crying too much today, it is not healthy for the baby. It’s understandable if you don’t want to go ahead with the wedding due to what happened to your best friend, we can have the wedding when she

recovers” Xavier reassure her, and she gave a nod as she walked towards the bed.

“Have you had your dinner yet?” he asked with concern.

“I don’t have the appetite to eat anything,” she said sadly.

“You have to eat my love, if not for anything at least for the life growing inside of you that needs it” he said, and her eyes stung with tears.

“You know I like the man you have become” she told him, and Xavier laughed.

“Promise me you will never allow yourself to be hungry no matter the circumstances of life” he pleaded, and she

gave a nod as tears rolled out of her eyes.

“Promise me Emerald” he said, and she gave a nod as she snuggled close to him.

“Penny did not visit this mansion on the day of the accident, that is all I want you guys to always remember if you still love and value your jobs” he threatened his workers, and they all bowed in respect.

“You can all leave” Blake stated, as he dismissed them. The more he try to pretend like everything was fine, the more the truth came glaring in his face, leaving him restless.

“I’m so sorry Penny, you don’t deserve what I did to you in any way” he muttered, to himself as he rubbed his forehead in frustration.

Blake’s phone ring and he checked the caller ID, his heart raced Immediately he saw it was a call from his daughter Emerald. Did she find out about his involvement with Penny’s current condition?

“Hello” he said, immediately he picked up.

“Dad, I have been trying to reach you for some time now.” Emerald said, on the other end and he bit his lower lip.

“I’ve been busy, someone have to take care of the company. After all you chose Xavier” Blake said, making her feel bad.

“Tomorrow is my wedding day, I am hoping you will come,” she said, and he that she did not know the truth about him being involved in Penny’s accident.

“You are still getting married to Xavier Jason?” he asked, and Emerald could sense the disappointment in his

“I thought it was quite evident that I love him,” Emerald said, making him sigh softly.

“You are my only child, in as much as I do not approve of your relationship with him, I can see that you genuinely love him and for that reason I will attend your wedding” he said, making a smile appear on Emeralds face.

“I love you Dad” she said, and that made his heart squeeze in hurt from the guilt of bringing her nothing but pain. and deception.

The wedding might not even go smoothly because Maggie’s physco son had plans to ruin it and take over the park. He felt guilty because he was not going to do anything to stop that from happening.

“I love you too,” Blake responded, and the line went dead.

Emerald stared at herself in the mirror as the girls touched up her makeup, and set her hair appropriately.

“You look very beautiful Luna,” One of them said, and Emerald smiled softly. Today is supposed to be a happy day for her, but she was feeling numb and sad instead.

“Thank you” She replied, as she stood up and looked at herself in the mirror.

“Everything is going to be okay Luna” the other one said, making Emerald stare at her in surprise.

“We know something is bothering you Luna. You always have the brightest smile on your face, and these days you look really down. Don’t let things bother you, everything is going to be okay” the other lady assured her, and Emerald smiled emotionally.

“Thank you so much,” Emerald said, and they chuckled.

“That is enough, we don’t want you to start crying now do we?” the other one said, and she shook her head negatively.

The wedding is to be held in the park garden, an intimate ceremony with members of the pack in attendance with some other guests.

Xavier stood with the priest waiting for his mate to walk in. Immediately, he noticed Blake escort his woman in the beautiful white dress his heart raced with joy.

“We have gathered here to witness the wedding ceremony of Alpha Xavier and his beautiful fiance Emerald …” The priest trailed, only for a loud break out outside.

Emerald turned, immediately Xaiver pulled her behind him.

“What is going on Xavier?” she asked, with an expression of fear on her face.

“We are being attacked!” someone screamed, and that is when it dawned on them that the enemies had arrived in broad daylight.

“Make sure my family is safe” Xavier told Jax, as he made to leave.

“No!” Emerald screamed, as she tried to hold him.

“You can’t go Xavier, what if … what if something happens to you? I won’t be able to bear it please” she trailed
