Chapter 8

" Did you see anyone??"

"Did someone see you??"

"Did you feel anything??"

"We won the bet right??"

"Oh come on tell us soon"

"Sahil what happened??"

These were questions asked by my family the moment we entered. 'Gosh my family is so damn crazy', I shook my head on my thoughts.

And to this my brother was teasing everyone by saying it slowly ," okay everyone, we...."

Eagerness was evident in my family member's face.

"Oh just cut the crap, and tell us, you idiot".

We all turned our heads to the source of this sentence. Well, ladies and gentlemen, it was my Nani.

"I was about to say but you cut me off", Sahil replied.

"NOW PLEASE TELL US" my family shouted.

"WE WON".

And there you go, my family members were celebrating as if I have agreed to marry that guy.

"Will you guys stop it", I shouted. Oh boy, this was a bad idea, a minute they paused, and very next second I was pulled in a bear-hug by my family members.

"I-I c-can't brea-th", I said chocking and they immediately left me. 'Phew' was all I thought.

"How was he looking?"

"Was he handsome?"

"Was he tall?"

"Did he look you in the same way I mentioned??"

"Did he see you too?"

I swear to God that, these people are already weaving their dreams for 'Mr.Yet-to-arrive-son-in-law'. They literally dragged me to the couch and forcefully dumped me to sit. And I'm thankful to my brother because he answered on my behalf.

"Yes, he was handsome and tall. And Nani he looked at kiddo the way you told. She just saw the silhouette of him and it was me who saw his face clearly. That's all. This what happened"

There you go, they again started to squeal and celebrate. I certify you people that my family is absolutely crazy. My thoughts came to halt when I heard my mother say,

"Now we have to just find him".

" Mom. Stop it right there. I just saw his silhouette. It was Sahil who saw him and not me. I even don't know whether I'll see him again or not. So I kindly request you guys to stop weaving your dream and concentrate on the business instead."

"But I do have a feeling that he'll be my son-in-law", both my father and grandpa said at the same time.

"Even I feel the same" my brother replied smirking at me.

"Okay, can we continue this in the dining table, I'm feeling damn hungry now" saying this my mom went towards the dining room. My brother and I went to refresh ourselves. During the bath, the silhouette of the man kept haunting.

'Shit! what the hell is happening. Okay, Akru...Just calm your mind'.

After the bath, I made myself comfortable in cadet blue night pajama and blush color T-shirt and headed towards the dining room.

The moment I settled everyone shot me with the same question that is 'where did you apply for the job?'

"Okay, guys. Don't freak out. I have applied for PA of CEO in Khannas Inc. ".

For a moment everyone was silent. Dead silent. Okay, here we go 3...2...1...

"WHAT??" everyone yelled at the same time.

"YES," I yelled back then sipped water from the glass before me.

"But he's arrogant. That's what everyone says and I don't even know how he looks?" said my brother.

"Sahil we can't just judge a book by its cover" I replied back.

"But he has a good name in the business circle though. But he never made a public appearance.   Always in a low-key lifestyle. I wonder how he looks. Now. " replied my Nanu.

Now??

"Nanu you know him??? " I asked. I sensed my Nanu going stiff.

'Are they hiding something from me'.

"Nothing kiddo. let's continue our dinner. And about your job you're in safe hands if you secure it" my grandpa replied.  Shrugging I just dug myself into food that is waiting for me.

Hehe...I don't care how I look. All that matters to me is food. My first love food. I wow my food.

Completing the dinner, we had our family talks and retired ourselves to our room. What a wonderful day. Pufft...Thank God tomorrow is Sunday. And Akru just shut your eyes and sleep.

Then my beauty sleep engulfed me.......

My dadu and Daksh kept on singing the same song. 'Ek ladki ko dekha toh aisa laga'  even after reaching home. I wonder how dadi actually handle dadu. He's worst than kids sometimes. Sorry, all time.

Entering inside my dadi and Preeti gave a curious glance to Daksh and dadu.

"Daksh bhai what happened, why you both are singing this song?" I heard Preeti ask. They replayed the whole Park scene to dadi and Preeti. I swear I wanted to kill both of them right now.

'But they are your Dadu and Childhood best friend' reasoned my heart.

'That's the only thing that's preventing me from killing them' my mind retorted.

"Is she beautiful Veer??" I heard my Dadi's voice.

"Yes," I replied smiling to myself in a daze.

"Yo old woman she's the epitome of beauty" replied Dadu. Dadi and Preeti looked at each other. Then all of a sudden my Dadi and Preeti started hooting and whistling.

My dadu gave me Are-they-mad look. Sighing heavily I stopped them from their little hooting session.

"Now...now will my ladies tell me the reason for shouting??" I asked and plopped myself on the couch.

" Bhai you saw a girl...you finally..looked at a girl....if dadu didn't say this scene....else Dadi and my thought would have remained the same" she replied giggling and Dadi started laughing.

'Why everyone in my family is crazy?' I thought to myself.

"What thought??" I heard Daksh asking my question.

"THAT VEER IS, GAY," said my dadi.

'What the Absolute Fuck??'

Hearing my Dadi's reply everyone started laughing their ass off. I even saw Preeti and Daksh wiping their tears and continued laughing.

'Just because I don't date women, that doesn't mean I'm gay. For God's sake, I'm damn straight. Where do they even get thoughts like this'

'Well, bro your family is crazy. So this is bound to happen', I heard my sub-conscious mocking at me.

"You know Veer we were actually okay with that too....be it a boy or girl, I just needed someone to be your life partner", Dadi said.

"I hope everything is clear now. So can we please make a move to the dining room. I'm starving" I said.

They controlled their laughter and sat and started having the dinner that was prepared.

"Vee...I'll be going to Delhi for one week, to discuss with the company supplies us raw material. I'll handle everything about that deal. Don't worry about it! Just handle your new PA's appointment " Daksh told me and I bobbed my head.

Yea he works with me since he's the COO of our company. Even though he has his own family business, he ditched his family company for me.

'He's the best friend I can wish for'. They don't say this to him else it'll boost his ego which I can't handle.

I heard them clearing their throats. I looked from my plate after my thoughts were broken. I saw the mischievous look on everyone's face.

"Dreaming about someone, are we??" Preeti asked, wiggling her eyebrows. And the whole family burst out laughing, whilst I facepalm myself. I couldn't help but think about how it'll be for my ' hush-hush' girl to be a part of my family.

'Seriously Viren, ' your 'hush-hush' girl' ', I heard my mind say. Her beautiful face was flashed before and I smiled, forgetting my surroundings.

'Shit not again'.

I composed my self and saw my family again laughing at my state. Completing my dinner I excused myself to my room, whilst I heard my family singing an old Hindi song.

Mere sapnon ki rani kab aayegi tu

Aayi rut mastaani kab aayegi tu

Beeti jaaye zindagaani kab aayegi tu

Chali aa, tu chali aa.

My crazy family and the song instantly remained me of her. Grinning like an Idiot and I changed my self in track and T-shirt and plopped onto the bed. I closed my eyes replaying her laughing face and my sleep engulfed me.

' My hush-hush girl'.
