Mateo sat at his mother's house as she fixed him a plate of food. He'd been craving her asado. He loved when she cooked Argentinean food. It always made him want to go back, he vowed to take a trip there soon, back to his true roots. And he would definitely bring his child once they got older.

He licked his lips as he took in the assortment of barbeque. "Mama, this looks so good." She smiled as she took a seat in front of him, reaching for his hands to bless the food. Once that was done they both dug into their food. Conversation to a minimum until they were halfway through their meal.

"How's Jessica, is it?" She questioned unsure of the name of the mother of his child. He nodded his head as he chewed, speaking once he swallowed. "She's good, been having slight nausea. She thought it was weird it didn't hit her in the first trimester, but it's hitting her harder now. Other than that though I haven't heard any complaints."

She nodded, "that's good. I can make her some tea to curve that." She smiled. She still hadn't met her, but she was leaving it to her son's timing. He nodded, "she would probably love that." He paused as he took a sip of his drink. "I'm actually flying out there next week, we find out the gender. We thought we would find out when she was sixteen weeks, but the baby was covering itself. So we're hoping we'll find out this go round. Anyways, you want to come?"

She chuckled slightly, "you were stubborn like that too. I had to book an extra appointment for you. The last ultrasound is at 20 weeks, and I still didn't know what you were so I asked for an extra one," she shook her head. "But I would love to come."

"I'll get you a ticket." She took a sip of her tea. "Sofia know yet?" She raised one of her eyebrows in question.

He sighed, he was really stalling on telling her. Jessica was in her second trimester at this point and he'd yet to mention it. He just didn't know how. He shook his head no, not making eye contact with his mother.

She shook her head in disappointment. "Hijo, the longer you wait the worse it will be."

"It's going to be bad regardless." He let out as he stood up to take their plates to the sink. "Exactly, so why continue to draw it out?" She questioned as she got up following him. "How are you even getting away with sneaking to a different city?"

"I have sponsors in San Francisco too. I've had plenty of shoots and meetings there." She leaned back on the kitchen counter. "Hijo, tell her."

He knew his mother was right, he just had to do it at this point.

-

Mateo walked into the house as Sofia was laid out on the sofa watching reality TV. She turned looking his way as he walked in with two to-go plates. "My mom cooked," he let out as he lifted the plates as if she couldn't already see it.

She smiled quickly getting up, she loved his mother's cooking. "Perfect timing." She grabbed both plates out of his hand. Putting one in the microwave for herself and the other in the fridge for him.

"How's she doing?" She asked as she faced him, he took a seat by the island. He nodded, "she's good." It was obvious something was bothering him, it was noticeable in his demeanor.

The microwaved beeped as she turned around to take the food out. She grabbed a fork digging in. Closing her eyes as she chewed emphasizing how good it tasted. His mom could throw down and there was no secret about it. "This is so good," she let out as she opened her eyes going for another fork full. He watched her as she ate.

He just had to come out and say it, and what better time than while she was doing something that she enjoyed?

"I got a girl pregnant," he let out so quick that she could barely understand him. "What?" She questioned as she chewed. Her attention now on him more than the food.

"I got a girl pregnant," he let out as he looked up at her. She stopped chewing as she just looked at him before she started laughing and looked down at her food, stabbing at it before bringing it to her mouth. "Stop playing with me Mateo. That shits not funny."

He held a serious face and tone as he sighed, "I'm not Sofia."

She dropped her fork as she quickly swallowed her food. "Are you fucking kidding me? You cheated on me and got a bitch pregnant?" She was yelling as her hand hit the counter.

"I didn't cheat, it was during a break."

"Mateo get the fuck out of here. We're never broken up for more than a week or two."

"And that's when it happened Sofia."

She looked at him with pure anger as she shook her head. Tears brimming her eyelids. "You out here fucking random bitches raw? And then fucking me with that same dick? You didn't even have courtesy to wrap it?" She questioned. "Or did the condom bust?" She asked with a roll of her eyes as she quickly swiped at the tears threatening to fall.

"Like you really got a bitch pregnant on me." She hit the counter hard as she yelled.

"I'm sorry." He let out. She came over to him pushing him. "Sorry Mateo? You're fucking sorry?" She pushed him again.

"Sorry isn't going to fix this."

"I know," he let out as he ran a hand down his face.

"How could you do this to me?" She threw a hit at him after every word.

He stood up grabbing her arms as he held her and her tears fell. She was hurt. He didn't want to see her this way. But he knew this was all his fault. "I'm sorry," he let out. "I'm so sorry." All that did was make her cry harder.

She tried to wiggle out of his grasp with no success. "Get off of me," she yelled threw her cries. He did as she asked as she quickly went to grab her phone and ran upstairs slamming the door.

He sat back down knowing he needed to give her time. It didn't go as bad as he thought it would, it was still bad though.

He pulled out his phone texting his mom, X and Jessica separately. I told her.

—

"So what happened?" X asked with too much excitement as he walked in Mateo's place.

Mateo shook his head as he closed his door. Walking back to the living room. "She yelled, she cried, she left."

"She left? Like left for good or left for a couple of days?"

Mateo shrugged his shoulders. "She left that night, two days ago. And won't return any of my calls or text. She didn't take all of her stuff though. So I know she'll come by eventually."

"Damn," he let out with a shake of his head. "How you holding up?"

Mateo shrugged again. "I love that girl." He looked over at X. "I don't like to see her like that over some stupid shit I did. I'm not happy if that's what you asking. Like I'm okay, but I'm really not okay. I just potentially truly lost my girl. Lost the one girl I gave it all up for. The one girl I saw myself spending the rest of my life with. Like she's gone X."

X didn't know what to say, he never felt that way about a girl. He could only imagine the hurt he was going through. "It's gon' be alright bro. Give her some time. Don't start assuming you lost her for good. It's a lot to take in."

X was right. But if the tables were turned he would be heartbroken as hell and knew he wouldn't be able to stand by her having a baby by another man.

—

"That's so cute!" Alexis gushed as she stopped in the baby aisle picking up a cute little onesie. Jessica smiled agreeing.

"I can't wait until you find out what you're having so I can shop for my godchild."

"You? Girl I can't wait to find out either." Jessica let out as they passed through the aisle heading towards the food as they walked through Walmart.

"So you said Mateo and his mom are coming?" Alexis questioned. Jessica nodded.

"And you're cooking for them?" Jessica nodded again. "Girl you're a good one, we sure enough would be going out to eat."

Jessica ignored her statement as she looked at the assortment of meats. She was thinking of making either pork chops with some sides or a simple pasta dish like Alfredo.

"I'll probably make something easy," she responded as she picked up some chicken breast.

"Has he told his girl yet?"

Jessica looked at her as she started pushing the basket, "yeah actually. He texted me earlier last week and told me he told her. Honestly haven't talked to him since then." Jessica and Mateo had damn near been talking everyday before Sofia found out. But since then they hadn't at all.

"Ooo, I would have loved to be a fly on the wall for that conversation. Did he tell you how it went?"

Jessica shook her head no. "I asked, but nothing. He didn't respond. I'm not going to push. I know it wasn't easy and they seemed truly happy. I feel kind of bad."

Alexis rolled her eyes, "bad for what? You didn't force that nigga to fuck you and you didn't know she existed. So stop it."

"Still," Jessica let out as she stopped in the pasta aisle picking up some noodles. "How are you and X though?"

"Well we talked and we got some things clear. He stated he wanted to take things slow, meaning he still wants to be a ho. So I'm going to match his energy and still keep doing me. Going to visit him in like two weeks and I'll be sure to keep texting my other niggas while I'm with him."

Jessica shook her head as she let out a laugh. "You are so shady."

"No I'm not, I just match energy." They continued walking as Jessica stopped in different aisles getting things that she needed as Alexis threw a couple of things in the basket as well.

"Is that Dwayne?" Alexis asked as they made their way to check out. Jessica turned as she caught sight of him with his baby mother and daughter. They hadn't really talked since the incident and he had yet to drop her stuff off and pick his stuff up like he said he would. But she wasn't stressing it. She considered what she left at his place a lost cause at this point.

Jessica nodded as she quickly faced forward. "So he's back with his baby mama." Alexis let out as her eyes were still on them.

"Probably was dealing with all along, I told you how I was pretty sure it was her on the other line the day he came and showed out."

Alexis shook her head, "trash as fuck." Jessica continued to make her way to check out deciding she wasn't going to give that situation anymore of her attention. However she couldn't flex like it didn't hurt to see him with his ex. Because it did.

"His lost," Alexis let out once noticing the slight hurt on her face. "Now another man gets to luck up," she smiled.

Jessica smiled back. "Do you think I should text Mateo?" She asked as she unloaded the basket onto the conveyer belt. "Like to make sure they're still coming."

"Yeah, why not? It wouldn't hurt anything."

Jessica pulled out her phone sending him a quick text. Are you and your mom still coming tomorrow?

The bubbles appeared and then quickly disappeared indicating that he saw it but didn't respond. However Jessica didn't think much of it.
