"Wait, so he just broke up with you?" Jessica nodded her head as she threw her phone down. "Talking about he has a lot going on and just needs some time to himself."
Alexis bit her lip in thought. "I mean you two have been going through it and all the stuff with his baby mama. It probably was all just too much for him." Jessica gave her an 'are you serious' look to which Alexis quickly threw her hands up. "I'm just saying Jess, you've even called me saying you were thinking about ending it."
Jessica smacked her teeth, "I was just talking. I was mad! I wasn't really going to end it. But he did. Like that's two years down the drain."
"You said he just said he needs some time to himself, which doesn't sound like the two of you are completely done." Jessica laid back on her bed, "sounds like a complete break up to me. We've never broken up no matter how bad the arguments were." Tears started falling that she couldn't control.
Alexis hated when people cried she sucked at consoling. "Jessica, stop! It's okay." She laid down beside her pulling her into her. "Stop it. This doesn't mean it's over, and if it is who cares, look at you! Any guy would be lucky to have you!"
And they would Jessica was beautiful on the inside and out. Standing at 5'6 with skin the color of Mahogany, pretty doe eyes that had a natural slant to them and full lips with naturally curly hair that hit past her shoulders her face alone would pull men in.
She wasn't exceptionally curvy but she had enough to make someone pay attention and once you got to know her anyone could see she had an heart of gold. She had her flaws, but everyone does.
Jessica just cried harder as Alexis sat holding her, she hated to see her friend like this. She thought for a second, she looked at the time on her phone, 8:34pm. "We're going out! You aren't going to sit and mop around. We're going to have some fun, we aren't going to even think or talk about Dwayne."
Jessica shook her head no as she wiped her face. She leaned up, getting off the bed to go get some tissue. "I'm not up for it Lex."
"Well I am and you need it." Alexis was definitely the one who partied between the two. Alexis was all for living life, she often didn't want to be tied down in a relationship and seeing her friends get their heartbroken pushed her even more to continue living how she was living. She just wanted to have fun! And that's exactly what she did. When she wanted sex, she got it. When she wanted male company, she got it. But it was all on her and that type of control she didn't want to let go of.
Jessica blew her nose before responding as she rolled her eyes. "You always are." Alexis walked to her Jessica's closet, "true and I hardly ever ask you to tag along because you're always booed up but you're not now, so we are going to have a night of fun and letting loose. And I will bug you about it while I pick out your outfit until you say yes." Alexis turned and looked at her with a smile.
And Jessica knew she would, Alexis was so used to having her way that she would do anything to get it. Jessica plopped back on her bed. "Alexis my boyfriend literally just broke up with me a week ago, can I have some time to cope?"
"Yeah, you had this whole week I've been gone and all of today. It's now turning into night time and we're going to drink the sorrows away." Jessica yelled in her pillow, knowing there was no getting out of this with Alexis. But maybe she was right, maybe she needed this to get her mind off it.
"That a girl, let it out. Cause we're going." Alexis laughed knowing she was the reason for Jessica's current frustration but she knew by the end of the night Jessica would be enjoying herself if she had anything to do with it.
Jessica leaned up, "you're a horrible friend. You know that?" Alexis crossed her arms as she stopped looking through her clothes to face her. "No, what would be a horrible friend is me leaving you to sulk when I have the power to get your mind off of it." She turned back around, "now get in the shower, we have a full night ahead of us."

Pulse was packed, more packed than usual. "What the hell is going on in here tonight?" Jessica questioned with annoyance as someone bumped her walking past.
Alexis looked on with confusion as well, Pulse was just usually her go to place she didn't think to check what was going on tonight. She pulled out her phone as she went to their Instagram seeing a flyer promoting tonight. She read on before nodding her head and looking back at Jessica. "Some professional football players and shit in here." Jessica rolled her eyes, that would surely bring a crowd out.
With Alexis coming here so much she usually easily got a VIP booth but with tonight's event she wasn't sure if it could happen but she knew she didn't want to be standing around in the heels she chose.
She sent a quick text to the owner since she was in good with him to see what was up. He quickly texted back telling her to meet him by his office. She grabbed Jessica as they begin walking towards his office.
"Where are we going?" She questioned with her eyebrows knitted, they were no longer in the club that was dumb packed but walking down long hallways and it didn't help that she needed another drink. They took some shots before they left but if she was going to try enjoy herself tonight she needed more.
"To talk to the owner about getting a booth. Do you see me?" Alexis stopped for a minute to face Jessica, "and do you see you? We aren't about to be standing around. My feet ain't about to be on fire." Jessica laughed, Alexis could be so full of herself. But in the same sense she looked damn good and knew she did so she acted accordingly.
Alexis was a redbone with full lips and long hair, that she kept weave in to make it longer. She was considered slim thick not far off from Jessica, but she had a little more in the front and the back. She always looked her best, no matter what and she took pride in her looks.
John, the owner smiled when he saw Alexis it was no secret he had a thing for her but Alexis would never cross that boundary he was only about ten years older than her twenty-six but she didn't want to burn any bridges and she used this bridge a lot. He kissed her cheek before focusing his attention on Jessica. "And who is this beauty with you?" He questioned Alexis as he looked at Jessica with lust dancing in his eyes.
"My best friend," she said sternly. "Jessica. Jessica, this is John." She introduced. Jessica smiled and gave a small wave while John flashed his million dollar smile.
Alexis wasn't here for the games, "can you get us in a booth or no?" He sighed, "all the booths are sold tonight." Alexis was aggravated, she didn't understand why he didn't just say that in the text rather than have her walk all this way. "But," he continued. "I can probably get you two in the booth with Xavier Brown and Antonio Sanders and them." He smiled as if he just blessed them.
"And they are who?" Jessica questioned with her eyebrows knitted. His smile automatically dropped, "the reason it's so packed in here tonight they're NFL players."
"Oh." She looked away in embarrassment as Alexis laughed lightly. "Well then make it happen." Alexis let out with her eyes focused on John.
"Follow me." He closed his office door behind him as they made their way back towards the club where everyone was. They quickly made it to the VIP section as he started talking to one of the players who looked over at the two, quickly nodding as he moved his hand back as to welcome them in.
"Thanks John," Alexis let out before walking into the section. The bottle girl quickly came their way as Alexis just ordered a bottle of Grey Goose knowing she needed to get Jessica lit.
Neither one of them were celebrity happy and quite honestly they didn't really know who they were. Neither one of them watched sports and they damn sure weren't about to act like groupies. Jessica took a seat beside a Hispanic looking guy who was all up in his phone, as Alexis took a seat beside her.
The guy looked at Jessica as they caught eyes. Jessica hiked her breath. He was gorgeous. Handsome as hell, and she'd never honestly looked at another race that way. She had saw plenty of black guys that she felt like were everything. But this man wasn't black and he was truly everything.
His green eyes pierced into hers. He had dark hair, it was cut short but still enough to run his fingers through and he had full lips that he began opening to speak. "You good?" He questioned with his eyebrows knitted in.
He was hoping she wasn't a crazy fan. He'd dealt with his fair share of those for this trip. He was Mateo Santos, a MLB player, professional baseball. He was only out to celebrate Xavier's birthday, they were really good friends and Xavier asked him to tag along.
Luckily with baseball not being as big as football he wasn't noticed as much, but weirdly in this city he had been noticed a lot more than expected and the girls here were crazy.
Jessica let out a breath feeling slightly embarrassed as she nodded her head, "sorry." She quickly looked at Alexis as she saw a guy approaching her, the same guy who let them in. "Xavier," he smiled as he extended his hand to Alexis.
He was okay looking, nothing to go crazy over but he had a gorgeous smile. He was dark skin with a low cut and very muscular. Jessica's mind went to Dwayne looking at him, though Dwayne was much cuter in her eyes they had similar features.
Jessica averted her attention from the two as she watched the bottle girl approach with the liquor they ordered. That's what she needed at this point, before she got herself sad again.
The bottle girl poured her a shot as she quickly downed it, pouring herself another one and taking it before making a mixed drink with the cranberry juice they already had on the table. If she was going to get out of her feelings, she had to get out of her mind ... drunk.
Mateo looked on with a smirk. It was clear she was trying to get herself drunk. But he was curious as to why. He hadn't drunk too much tonight, but with the way him and his ex were arguing at the moment he would probably be like her in a minute. Him and his girl had recently broke up, but they were far from truly over.
He poured himself a shot of the Hennessy that was on the table as Jessica basically gulped down her drink. He threw it back before focusing on her. "You sure you good?" He questioned with a light laugh. First she looked at him like she saw a ghost and now she was drinking like her life depended on it.
Jessica looked towards him as she gave a small smile, embarrassment once again overcoming her. "Hard day."
He nodded his head in understanding before his mind went straight to wondering if she was fucking Xavier or Antonio and had to sit through watching them be all up on others girls. He'd witnessed it before. "You know one of these dudes?" He questioned.
Jessica quickly shook her head no, "I came with her." She pointed at Alexis who was now making herself a drink as Xavier was now seated beside her. Alexis was all smiles as she laughed at whatever he said to her.
Mateo nodded his head as he poured a bigger shot. "You good?" Jessica threw the question back as she watched him take the shot.
He chuckled as he mocked her, "hard day." She laughed as she slightly rolled her eyes. "We have jokes I see."
Mateo smiled as she connected eyes with him. This night would change a lot in both of their lives, that neither one of them saw coming.
