"...I don't care what you wanna say Cyrus".
" ...being irrational! How am I being irrational?" What started out as just simple murmurs turned into full blown angry conversations. I slowly began to gain consciousness by someone pacing up and down on the tiled floor, and my eyes fluttered open to a familiar yet unfamiliar room.
"...yes I'm definitely going to cut this trip short!" He threatened.
"...I'm taking her with me" he continued.
At the sound of his voice I flew up but regretted it as a whif of pain travel its way to my head. I released a groan instantly while cushioning my head in my palm and waited for it to pass.
"... I'm not over thinking, she's coming with me and that's final!" He daunted. And finally I turned to see his outline on the balcony of his room. The room I was in. The room I was in! My mind took its own sweet time to process as everything from yesterday hit me like raging bull. The witch, the forest, the conversation with him and finally passing out, as what he said was too unbearable.
Truthfully everything that was happening was confusing and apart of me felt like my life was taking a turn, but a turn for the worst. As I watch him through the glass doors that separated my space from his, I couldn't help the tension along with traitorous excitement that was bubbling up inside me.
Did he bring me here?
His back was faced towards me and I swear, if he as much as looked in my direction my heart would flutter its way out of my chest.
No! Why am I thinking like this?
After what he accused me of yesterday!
Silently I stood up from the couch I was previously laid on while nervously twiddling my fingers. Questioning my sanity, I wondered if I was even suppose to stay since as I have woken up, and besides, I was still a slave who had duties to attend. Yea, I had duties to attend to so staying here was not an option.
Gathering the confidence, I took one last look at his back and finally walked off.
"Sit! Back! Down!"Â He ordered just loudly enough for me to hear. When I turned and peaked over my shoulder his back was still turned to me, and I'm guessing it was his werewolf senses that picked up my movements but nevertheless I did what he said after he slightly craned his neck over his shoulder indicating that he was speaking to me.
"... I'll call you when I'm on my way back" he finished off the call with someone.
As I waited for him to address me, frantically my heart thundered against my ribcage. I sat tensly with my hands in my lap, a dire need for a distraction just to prepare me for what is to come.
I heard his faint footsteps, then the sliding of the glassdoors.
One step.
Two steps.
Three steps.
Stop.
He stood less than 3 feet away from me and it took me a minute or two before I looked at him leaning against a table with his right leg crossed over his left. He wore a white dress shirt with the first two buttons undone while both his arms were folded in his pants pocket.
Dubiously I drawed my wandering eyes to his face and when our eyes met, my heart sank at the steely glare his eyes held.
"So...were you done eavesdropping?" He asked coldly. I could feel my light slowly dwindling each time he accused me of something so execrable and it was becoming infuriating.
"I wasn't...it wasn't intentional" I answered while matching his tone. I wasn't going to say I didn't hear a thing he said but I had no control over that, if he didn't want me to hear then he should have spoken more quietly. Im not the one to blame.
"I bet it wasn't... " he trailed off.
"The witch...what is the name of the witch you're working with?" He asked curtly with a hit of seriousness and urgency.
I could feel my blood pressure rising the more he tried to associate me in situations I knew nothing of, but what was more unsettling was the fact that I knew what was going to happen when I answer him.
"I'm oblivious to what you speak of, because neither do I know her name nor am I in any association with her sir" I spoke truthfully.
I saw when a muscle in his jaw ticked as he clenched his teeth tightly, fear began to creep its way to my limbs when his knuckles got chalk white from grabbing on to the edge of the table he leaned on, and it wouldn't take a genius to know he was pissed. My heart took a double beat when I was reminded of yesterday's event, he threatened to kill me , and I was positive he would do it again.
"OK...don't talk, continue acting dumb, let's see where that gets y-"
"Alpha Ares" someone knocked. And I was glad for the interruption.
"What!" He asked harshly and I flinched from his aggressive tone.
"The cars are ready to go..." The person behind the door informed.
"I'll be there in a minute" he turned away from me then walked over to his bed where his jacket was and swing it over his shoulder, then walking away with not much as a look back in my direction.
When he walked pass me I looked up at his retreating figure until he was out the door. I saw when he stopped to speak to the person outside the door in hushed whispers then he was gone.
I stood to my feet as he left but at the same time two burly wolves that I've never seen around came bursting through the door and instantly their eyes met my standing frame.
"You need to come with us" the one on the left spoke gravelly and I took a step back showing my hesitance.
"And for what reason?" I asked exasperated.
"You don't get to ask that question" the other one said tonelessly then throwing me over his shoulder effortlessly and stomping out.
I became aware of how the world was seemingly turning its back against me, my failed punches didn't as much as cause the werewolf that was carrying me to flinch. And every scream and plea did nothing to help the situation, however it did attract an unnecessary crowd of slaves as we pass them along the hallways. My head began to throb from the backflow of blood and when the dizziness was starting to become overwhelming that was the time I felt myself being returned to my feet.
When all the dizziness got washed away I finally saw that I was stood directly in front of a huge range rover. I felt an audience of eyes trained on me from every direction, whirling around I was just in time to see a group of 5 werewolves parting themselves for him to pass. His long legs carried him smoothly and when I saw him walking towards me my eyes widened while I tried to look anywhere but at his face.
"Get in" he commanded rather harshly while holding the door open.
"No!" I could hear the sharp intake of breath everyone took when I dared to disobey the Alpha's command, however when I looked up at him nothing changed except for the perfectly arched eyebrow that etched its way onto his face. Someone of my status who even dared to go against a werewolf would be asking for instant death but at the moment I didn't even care because I have had enough.
"Listen... I'm not a toy, my feelings are not your playground and my life is not your game. Forgive me if I come off as rude my Alpha, but you are assuming all the wrongs about me, whatever you have going on, I have no part in it and neither do I want to be apart of it. So please I'm begging you, don't take me from here" I persisted out of breath with high hopes that whatever I said could reach beyond his cold exterior. I didn't even know what he wanted with me.
The clinking of his shoes against the asphalt pavement pulled me out of whatever little moment I had and I was drawn back into reality. In two large steps he closed whatever little space there was between us leaving anything else only for imagination. My face brushed against his chest and I felt his breath fanning against the top of my head. The close proximity had me transfixed in my spot while skin began to feel clammy. Instantly I was wafted with his amazing orange pine scent that did nothing but increased my heart rate.
I don't know, but for some reason he was making me feel some type of way.
"Do you have a death wish?" He asked rhetorically. When I didn't answer, he craned his neck down to my level and stared deeply in my eyes. "You don't get to make the decisions, and if you have forgotten... you're my property" he sneered devilishly.
"Now get in"With one last attempt, he grab hold of the back of my head and pushed me face first into the back of the car, slamming it shut in the process.
To be continued...
