After wrapping up a supporting role scene, Galen got a call from Chad.
They had met before but werenât that close, having only spoken at an after-party.
Galen figured Chad was calling about Teresa. But it turned out that Chad wanted to introduce him to a screenwriter.
âI already have a screenwriter.â Galen said, confused.
âThe screenwriter Iâm referring to is Fred.â Chad said calmly.
Galen was taken aback. The script for Eyes on the Rendezvous was inspired by Galen's reading of renowned author Fred's work, Vanishing Riddle.
In the early stages of the project, Galen had contacted Fred to co-write the script, but Fred had been too busy.
Galen wasnât thrilled with the existing Eyes on the Rendezvous script. He often held meetings with the writer and creative team for revisions. If Fred really joined the crew... He couldnât even fathom the endless possibilities.
After weighing his options, Galen said to Chad, âIf you can really convince Fred, Iâll let Teresaâs actions slide.â
Chad chuckled and said, âWeâll deal with Teresa by the book.â
Galen was stunned. âWhat?â
âDonât overthink this, Galen. Iâm just a regular viewer, hoping you'll outperform The Alley. Fred is on her way; sheâll probably arrive tonight. Oh, and Fred is a woman; she's my wife.â
Meanwhile.
After hanging up with Chad, Egbert turned to find Eileen engrossed in a video game on the floor. Janice recommended the game, and Eileen was hooked.
Egbert sat on the sofa behind her. After she cleared a level, Eileen leaned back against Egbertâs legs, opened her mouth, and said, âAhhh.â
Egbert fed her a fry. She happily ate it, then sat up and continued playing.
After a while, she turned her head to him again, so he put the straw of her drink in her mouth.
Eileen played for half an hour, during which Egbert served as her snack dispenser.
Finally, Egbert asked, âDo you really think this is how a married couple interacts?â
Eileen didnât take her eyes off the screen. âYeah, isnât feeding each other intimate?â
Egbert sighed. âHave you ever fed me?â
âOh, come on, donât be so petty.â After clearing another level, Eileen set her controller down to feed Egbert, only to find that all the snacks were gone.
She sheepishly said, âI'll have Janice get more.â
As she was about to leave the room, Egbert pulled her onto his lap and held her tightly. Eileen instinctively tried to resist but remembered they were pretending to be married, so she decided to stay.
Egbert hadnât expected her to finally get it. He was about to say something when Eileen said, âItâs almost six, and we havenât had dinner yet. Where should we eat tonight?â
Egbert let go of her instantly.
They ate seafood for dinner. Coastal cityâs seafood was famously delicious. The streets were empty by the time they finished and started their walk back.
With his mask on, Egbert took a leisurely walk with Eileen. The dim streetlights and the soft breeze made for a peaceful stroll.
âWhat are you thinking about?â Egbert asked.
âIâm wondering why youâre so frugal since youâre not willing to hail a cab.â Eileen replied.
Egbert turned to look at her. âArenât we supposed to be building our relationship?â
Eileen sighed. âDoes building a relationship require a walk? Weâre going to be hungry again after walking such a long way.â
Egbert stopped and waited for a taxi.
âWhat are you doing?â Eileen asked.
âDidnât you want a taxi?â Egbert answered calmly.
Eileen was speechless. âWeâve walked so far; why take a taxi now? Weâre almost there; why waste the money? Letâs keep walking.â
Defying Fate: The Unstoppable Eileen ï¤Chapter 114 Egbert was dumbfounded. He now understood why people said that women change their minds faster than they flip a book.
Back at the hotel, Eileen took a shower and then headed for Egbertâs room. He had also showered.
They planned to watch a romantic movie together. The movie was so romantic that they decided to watch it with the lights off.
Ten minutes in.
Egbert turned his head to look at the sleeping girl beside him. He rubbed his tired eyes, turned down the volume of the movie, and went to get a blanket. Just as he sat down, the girl woke up.
Eileen sleepily opened her eyes and saw Egbert.
Egbert put the blanket aside and said, âGo back to sleep.â
Eileen sat up and stretched, saying, âIâm fine; Iâm a pro!â
Egbert didnât say anything. He opened the blanket and covered her with it.
While wrapped in the blanket, Eileen continued to watch the movie, trying to learn about love.
Five minutes later, she fell asleep again.
Egbert sighed and adjusted the blanket that had slipped off her. But this small movement woke her up again.
Eileen sat on the couch, hugging her knees.
She finally realized that she might not like romantic movies anymore.
