Eileen bit back the urge to turn her head and re-examine Egbertâs fingers, to confirm whether he had indeed spoken those words.
Seriously, with all thatâs going on, canât you say something helpful?
She knew Egbert must have recognized NightKing, too. Otherwise, why would he have turned so fierce all of a sudden?
But why on earth was NightKing here? That was the burning question Eileen desperately wanted answered.
Ever since sheâd started filming "Romantic Revelations," she had pushed thoughts of NightKing to the back of her mind.
The last time she used her mentorâs encrypted communication device to track his international whereabouts was half a month ago.
She knew her mentor had traveled from Silverland to Emerald Republic, but she hadnât dwelt on it.
Who would have guessed that their next meeting would be under such circumstances?
The rebel leaderâs and his second-in-command's voices were growing louderâthey were at odds.
After a while, Eileen saw her mentor step forward to "administer justice."
Eileen watched as NightKingâs thin lips pursed slightly and then he uttered the phrase, "Kill one to warn a hundred."
Eileen froze. In the next instant, all three men turned their heads and, as one, set their sights on her.
Eileen was speechless.
Damn, why was she suddenly the sacrificial lamb?
The rebel commander then gave his right-hand man a meaningful look.
Hesitant but obedient, the man stepped toward Eileen and jerked his thumb backward, saying, âOur boss wants a word with you.â
Eileen was silent for a moment, then said, âFine.â
Together, they walked towards the commander.
âDoesnât look like sheâll be much trouble,â the rebel commander said to his advisor - NightKing.
But he remained silent, his cool gaze following Eileen as she approached their circle.
As soon as Eileen stepped into the rebelâs encirclement...
The rebel commander waved his hand dramatically and barked, âTake her down!â
Instantly, three of his loyal soldiers surged forward.
Simultaneously, Eileen raised her submachine gun with one hand and aimed straight for the rebel commanderâs forehead.
"Whoosh!"
The sound of the bullet slicing through the air was the only warning.
Before the commander could understand what was happening, his body was yanked backward. The three goons, shocked, abandoned their assault on Eileen and quickly formed a protective circle around their chief!
The commander felt a chilling whoosh by his temple and clutched it in astonishment, then looked ahead.
There she was, that defiant beauty, aiming her gun at the back of the head of his top lieutenant.
â[Holy moly, it's going down!]
â[OMG, that scared me! It's a real gun! They're going live!]
â[Wait, what just happened? I blinked.]
â[Class rep here, Iâll explain. They lured Eileen over to try and kill her, but she reacted instantly, took a shot at the commander's head, he was pulled out of the way by one of his men,, and now Eileen is holding the leader hostage.]
â[Eileen is so quick!]
â[But what good is being quick if the commander doesnât seem as easy to talk down as that leader? They look like theyâre ready to go lethal on Eileen.]
â[Ah, I can't watch, I'm scared I'll see Eileen get shot live! I'm freaking out!]
Eileen raised an eyebrow and prodded the leaderâs skull with her gun barrel.
He sighed, feeling almost accustomed to this.
Frankly, after being held at gunpoint by Eileen before, this was almost routine.
He just stood there, motionless, because moving wasn't really an option.
Eileen spoke coldly, âThis is your idea of a âtalkâ?â
The rebel commander erupted in a stream of local dialect, squawking at Eileen.
She listened calmly and then casually replied, âBlah blah blah, blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah blah...â
The rebel commander and the leader was both taken back.
NightKing went speechless.
International comments exploded.
â[Does anyone know what that blah blah is? What are they even saying?]
â[Uh, thatâs local Frostsglow slang, some kind of swearing...]
â[...]
â[So whatâs the swear? I wanna know.]
â[... No, you really donât.]
â[?]
â[Well, I'll just tell you. The commander was calling the girl cunning, bold, stuff like that. As for the girl...]
â[What did the girl say?]
â[...She basically said, 'So you're the head honcho of the rebels? I'm curious, what exactly are your criteria for leadership? Is it whoever has the most shit for brains? Or whose brain tumor is the largest? You refuse to listen to reason and canât grasp the situation. You're a perfect blend of idiot and imbecile, is that your way of killing two birds with one stone? I'm genuinely impressed you've survived this long and can walk upright. Usually, unevolved primates that canât use their brains to think are still on all fours.']
â[...Heard sheâs a fiery actress from Crestonia.]
Defying Fate: The Unstoppable Eileen ï¤Chapter 274 â[How do I delete my previous comments bashing her? Need a quick tutorial.]
The rebel commander was livid, not expecting this spitfire to not only speak their local language but also sling their dirtiest slang! His face, already marred by a scar, twisted in fury.
Eileen glanced at him and said, âYouâve got experience. Knowing you canât outsmart others with your brains, youâve learned to intimidate with your face instead. That face of yours, even a fly would sprain an ankle landing on it, right?â
The rebel commander was so enraged he was practically frothing!
Snatching a rifle from one of his men, he aimed at Eileen, ready to fire.
Eileen quickly pulled the leader in front of her as a human shield.
Unable to get a clear shot at Eileen, the commander roared with impotent rage and ordered everyone, âOpen fire!â
For a moment, the room fell eerily quiet.
After a long pause, a rebel soldier said timidly, âWe can't kill her. She's a big deal in Crestonia, the wife of international superstar Egbert Reed.â
The rebel commander was taken aback by her statement. Clearly, he hadn't anticipated that the girl, who had all the airs of a streetwise punk, would have such powerful connections.
Eileen's gaze shifted, her icy stare landing on her mentor.
NightKingâs eyes met hers. His eyes were a steely gray, calm and inscrutable, but within their depths flickered a barely perceptible glint of murderous intent.
Eileen dismissed the hint of danger with indifference, her curiosity piqued. She tilted her head and asked nonchalantly, âWith all that heavy stage makeup you've got on, doesnât your skin break out?â
