In a dimly lit, grandiose mansion with towering walls and dark, menacing decor, Vittorio watched as his men dragged Darshil's unconscious body across the cold floor, chaining him to a heavy chair in the center of the room. Moments later, Darshil stirred, groaning softly as he slowly regained consciousness. He blinked, trying to adjust to the hazy light, his head throbbing where Vittorio had struck him.
Vittorio stood across the room with a cruel smirk, his eyes gleaming with triumph.
Ah, Darshil. Awake, finally. You know, I've waited a long time for this moment. You've been a thorn in my side for far too long. Vittorio said
Darshil lifted his head slowly, his expression sharpening with defiance.
And yet, here I am, still standing. You couldn't break me then, and you won't break me now, Vittorio. Darshil replied, his voice low and challenging.
Vittorio laughed, a cold, hollow sound that echoed through the room.
Brave words from a man in chains. Vittorio said.
He walked closer, circling Darshil like a predator.
You've built quite the empire for yourself, haven't you? Italy practically bows to you, and even I have to admit, it's impressive. But tell me, Darshil-how much of your kingdom are you willing to sacrifice tonight? Vittorio said
Darshil's eyes narrowed, his voice steely.
Sacrifice? Vittorio, you're delusional if you think I'll hand over anything to you. Darshil said
No? I think you underestimate the... persuasive tactics I have at my disposal. You can end your suffering here and now if you simply tell me where your hidden assets lie. A few signatures, and maybe I'll let you walk out of here alive. Vittorio said as he leaned in closer, whispering menacingly.
My empire isn't built on weakness, Vittorio. I don't bow to threats, and I certainly won't betray my own legacy because of a petty gangster like you. Darshil said with a smirk
Petty gangster? Bold words for a man whose fate rests in my hands. You know, Darshil, I admire your confidence. But you're only making this harder for yourself. A few answers... that's all I need. Where are your main shipments stationed? Who are your allies? Or do I need to show you what happens to those who defy me? Vittorio said, his voice sharp
Darshil met his gaze coldly, his tone unwavering.
I've seen men like you try and fail a hundred times, Vittorio. You think you scare me? My empire is protected by people who would die for me, who would fight until their last breath to keep your hands off what isn't yours. Do your worst. You'll gain nothing. Darshil said
Frustrated, Vittorio clenched his fists, his patience wearing thin.
You'll regret this arrogance, Darshil. You've brought this upon yourself. Vittorio said, his eyes flashing in anger.
Aarvi sat at Darshil's desk, her hands trembling as she stared at the screen displaying the tracker dot. Each flicker seemed to mirror her heartbeat, both hopeful and terrified. Shiv sat beside her, quickly typing, eyes locked on the map. Finally, a signal emerged, marking a location just on the outskirts of the city-a heavily guarded mansion.
Shiv....That has to be it. That's where Vittorio's holding him. Aarvi whispered, her voice laced with dread.
He's at Vittorio's mansion. Deep in the outskirts. It's isolated... makes sense. Vittorio would want privacy for something like this. We'll need to be smart about this. Shiv said
We're not waiting, Shiv. We have to get him out of there, now. Aarvi said
Shiv paused, weighing the risk.
Aarvi, listen. This isn't going to be easy. Vittorio will have his men stationed all over the place. I'm going to take my team in and get Darshil back, but you need to stay here. Shiv said
Aarvi's eyes flashed with determination.
You really think I'm just going to sit here and do nothing while Darshil's life is in danger? Aarvi said
Shiv sighed, glancing at her with both understanding and concern.
Aarvi, this isn't safe for you. Darshil would never forgive me if anything happened to you. Let me handle this- Shiv said but Aarvi interrupted firmly.
No, Shiv! I know Darshil would want to protect me, but I can't just wait here and wonder if he's going to come back safe... or not at all. I have to be there. He needs me. Aarvi said
Aarvi, Think about it-Vittorio's men are trained killers. They'll see us coming, and this won't be a quiet rescue. You could get hurt. You need to trust me on this. Shiv said again, his tone gentle but firm.
Aarvi shook her head, her jaw set.
Shiv, Darshil's life is worth everything to me. He saved me, fought for me... if I'm not there, I'll never forgive myself. You don't understand-I won't just sit here waiting to find out if he's alive or dead. I'm coming. Aarvi said
Shiv exhaled deeply, knowing he wouldn't be able to talk her out of it.
Fine. But you follow my lead. We do this strategically. One wrong move, and Vittorio will use Darshil against us. Shiv said
Aarvi nodded, her expression unwavering.
I trust you, Shiv. But don't expect me to stay back if he's in trouble. Aarvi said
Shiv gave a faint smile, respecting her fierce loyalty.
Alright, then. Let's make a plan. Shiv said and then he spread a map across the desk and pointed to several spots around the mansion.
We'll surround the mansion here, here, and here. I'll position our men at these points, making sure we cut off every exit. Vittorio's guards won't know what hit them. Shiv said
Aarvi studied the map intently.
Once we're positioned, what's our move? Aarvi asked
First, we'll take out the guards on the perimeter-silently, if possible. Then, we'll enter through the north wing, which seems to have the least security, probably Vittorio's blind spot. Once we're in, we'll split up. Shiv said
And when we find Darshil? Aarvi asked
Once we've located him, we'll need to cover our tracks fast. Vittorio won't go down easily, but we'll get Darshil out, whatever it takes. Shiv said
Then let's make sure this ends tonight. Aarvi said
Agreed, let's move. Shiv said
The midnight was thick and silent as Shiv and Aarvi approached Vittorioâs mansion. In the distance, Darshilâs men had already taken their positions, encircling the estate. Every shadowed corner hid a determined face; Darshilâs loyal men, all waiting for the signal.
Aarviâs heart pounded as they neared the perimeter. Shiv looked over at her with a steady gaze, seeing the mix of fear and determination in her eyes.
Are you ready? She whispered
Aarvi nodded, steeling herself.
As ready as Iâll ever be. Aarvi said
Together, they moved forward, Shiv signaling his men with a silent nod. The operation began smoothly, with Darshilâs men expertly neutralizing Vittorioâs guards one by one. Shiv and Aarvi slipped through an unlocked door and stepped inside the darkened halls of the mansion. Shiv pointed toward a corridor leading deeper into the mansion.
Darshil is likely being kept somewhere out of reach. Vittorio wouldnât leave him unattended, so watch your back. Shiv whispered.
Aarvi gave a sharp nod, her jaw set. Shiv went in one direction, dealing with the guards near the entryway, while Aarvi moved forward down the narrow, dimly lit corridor.
Each step felt heavy, tension mounting as she anticipated the worst. And then, she found itâa large, imposing door at the end of the hallway. She held her breath and carefully pushed it open, slipping inside. Her heart nearly broke at the sight before her.
Darshil was slumped against the wall, his hands bound with heavy chains that dug into his wrists. Blood trickled down the side of his head, staining his temple. His eyes were closed, and his face was tense, as if he was mentally preparing himself for whatever lay ahead.
Darshil.... Aarvi whispered, as her eye misted.
At the sound of her voice, Darshilâs eyes shot open, and for a moment, he was speechless.
Hazel⦠no. Darshil said, his voice a harsh whisper, fear evident in his tone.
Why did you come here? You shouldnât have come, Hazel. This place is too dangerous. Darshil said
Aarvi stepped forward, struggling to hold back tears.
I couldnât just leave you here. Youâd have done the same for me. Aarvi said
You donât understand, Hazel. Vittorio isnât just any manâheâs ruthless, cunning, and would use anything, anyone, to break me. If he finds out youâre here⦠Darshil said, a fierce urgency in his voice but Aarvi interrupted softly but firmly.
I donât care. I canât bear to see you like this, Darshil. I know youâd face a thousand dangers to protect me. Let me do the same for you. Aarvi said
Darshil closed his eyes for a moment, taking a shaky breath as if grounding himself in her presence.
Hazel⦠seeing you here, you donât know what itâs doing to me. Iâm terrified for you. Darshil said
She reached out, her fingers grazing his cheek gently.
Then let me get you out of here. Shiv gave me this. They were prepared for these chains. Aarvi said as she held up a small master key, her eyes glinting with purpose.
Darshilâs gaze softened, the tiniest flicker of hope crossing his expression. He nodded, holding out his wrists as she unlocked the shackles, and they clattered to the floor. He stood, swaying slightly from the exhaustion and pain, but Aarvi quickly steadied him.
Hazelâ¦.Darshil whispered, pulling her into a tight embrace, as if afraid to let her go.
Aarvi clung to him, her face pressed against his chest, taking in the steady beat of his heart as if assuring herself he was truly there.
Iâm so sorry you had to go through this. Aarvi murmured against him, her voice filled with regret.
No don't be. Darshil replied softly, his hand gently tilting her chin up so she looked at him.
You coming here⦠it means more than anything. But you need to leave now, Hazel. Itâs still dangerous. Darshil said
Not without you. Iâll never leave you behind, Darshil. Aarvi said
They stayed close, exchanging a look that held a thousand unspoken words. But then the sound of footsteps and gunfire echoed in the hall beyond the room.
Shiv....Aarvi whispered, her tone alarmed.
Heâs handling Vittorioâs men. We need to meet him so we can get out of here safely. Darshil said
Aarvi nodded, and as they stepped toward the door, Darshil put his arm protectively around her, guiding her forward despite his own injuries. Each step they took, he kept his gaze alert, scanning every shadow.
As they turned a corner, Shiv appeared, panting slightly but unharmed. Relief washed over his face as he saw Darshil standing beside Aarvi.
Thank god. You both made it. Shiv said, his voice thick with relief.
Letâs get out of here, fast. Vittorio wonât give up so easily. Darshil said
They began moving as a unit, Shiv taking point and leading them through the mansionâs winding halls. Vittorioâs remaining men began closing in, but Darshilâs men outside had taken up strategic positions, cutting off potential reinforcements.
As Darshil, Aarvi, and Shiv made their way through the dimly lit corridors of Vittorioâs mansion, tension hung thick in the air. They were so close to the exit, yet each step felt heavier than the last. Darshilâs gaze kept darting to Aarvi, his concern evident. He noticed the small tremors in her hand as the echo of distant gunfire began to reach them from outside. Vittorioâs men had clashed with Darshilâs team, and the sounds of the struggle reverberated through the halls.
Just then, the piercing sound of Vittorioâs enraged voice boomed from deeper within the mansion.
Find them! Donât let them escape! Vittorio shouted
Aarvi instinctively flinched, her face tense with worry. Darshil tightened his grip on her hand, a reassuring warmth against her fear.
Stay close. I wonât let anything happen to you Hazel. Trust me. Darshil murmered softly
They reached the main hallway, just a few yards from the exit, when suddenly Shiv handed Darshil his gun, his expression set with steely resolve.
Weâll need it. Vittorio will have sent men to block our way. Shiv said
Darshil took the weapon with a determined nod, his protective instincts flaring as he positioned himself between Aarvi and the potential danger ahead.
Whatever happens, we protect her first. Darshil said, his voice barely above whisper
Shiv nodded.
Understood. Shiv said
Aarvi, realizing the weight of the situation, tried to speak, her voice trembling,
Darshil, Shivâ¦you donât have to risk yourselves for me⦠Aarvi whispered
But Darshil silenced her with a gentle look, one that held a depth of feeling too strong for words.
Hazel, youâre my life. Thereâs no decision here. Darshil said
Just as he finished speaking, a group of Vittorioâs men appeared around the corner, their guns raised. Darshil wasted no time, his instincts kicking in as he aimed and fired, covering Shiv as they began to push forward through the hall, each shot calculated to protect Aarvi. Gunfire erupted around them, and Darshilâs men from outside took up the call, adding to the fray.
Aarviâs breath hitched as she pressed herself against the wall, her eyes wide with fear as the gunshots echoed through the mansion. She forced herself to look at Darshil, who turned back every few seconds, his eyes filled with fierce determination.
Stay behind me Hazel. We are almost there. Darshil said
As they finally made it to the main door, Vittorio himself appeared at the top of the staircase, fury etched onto his face. He aimed his gun toward them, his face twisted with anger.
You thought you could escape, Darshil? After everything youâve taken from me? Vittorio said, his voice filled with rage.
Darshil met Vittorioâs gaze with a cold, unyielding stare.
Iâll take much more than this, Vittorio. You brought this upon yourself. Darshil said
You think youâre invincible, Darshil. But even the strongest have a breaking point. Youâll pay for crossing me. Vittorio taunted in anger
With a dark laugh, Vittorio raised his weapon. Darshil and Shiv moved in unison, covering each other while they fired back at Vittorioâs advancing men. Vittorioâs shot missed as Darshil dodged, swiftly positioning himself to shield Aarvi.
Aarvi clenched her hands tightly, her heart pounding as the intensity of the fight grew. Darshilâs protective stance and fierce gaze made her feel safe, but her worry only grew with each gunshot. She barely registered her own fear, her focus entirely on Darshil.
Finally, with Shivâs help, they cleared a path through the hallway and pushed toward the door. Darshil kept his arm around Aarvi, guiding her swiftly as they stepped into the moonlit courtyard.
Just then, Vittorio burst through the doorway behind them. As Darshil, Shiv, and Aarvi finally made it outside the mansion, they could feel the night air and see the faint outline of the getaway car just a few yards away. But before they could take another step, Vittorio emerged from the shadows, his gun raised, his eyes burning with a deadly rage.
This isn't over yet Darshil. No one crosses me and lives to tell the tale. Vittorio said
Darshil moved instinctively, stepping in front of Aarvi, his hand reaching back to grip her protectively. Shiv raised his gun beside him, ready for whatever was about to unfold.
But Vittorio didn't wait. In one swift movement, he aimed directly at Darshil, his finger already pulling the trigger. The shot rang out, echoing through the quiet night.
In a flash, Aarvi acted on pure instinct, stepping around Darshil with a fluid motion. She twirled into his arms and pressed herself against him, shielding him as she took the hit. The bullet struck her back with a sickening thud, her body jolting from the impact.
I... Love you.... Darshil. Aarvi whispered in his ears, through her pain
Hazel....Darshil said, his voice broke with horror as he felt her weight sag against him. He caught her, holding her tightly, his hands trembling as he looked down at her pale face.
She forced a weak smile, her eyes soft and filled with emotion as she gazed up at him.
You were always...worth protecting, Darshil. Aarvi whispered, her voice barely a breath.
As soon as Vittorio fired, watching Aarvi collapse in Darshil's arms, a spark of realization flashed in Vittorio's eyes. He knew that by shooting her, he'd crossed a line even he couldn't control a line that made Darshil Rajvanshi's vengeance inevitable.
Vittorio's hand shook slightly, but he steadied himself, aiming again at Darshil with another deadly intent. But before he could pull the trigger, Shiv acted. He fired a shot directly at Vittorio's shoulder, the bullet piercing through with precision. Vittorio grunted in pain, staggering back, but Shiv didn't stop. His next shot hit Vittorio's knee, sending him crashing to the ground in agony, his gun clattering out of reach.
Darshil's men, witnessing the fight, surged forward, surrounding Vittorio and his fallen guards. They seized Vittorio, his face now contorted in fear and rage, dragging him up and taking him to await Darshil's orders.
But Darshil's focus was elsewhere, his heart and mind consumed by Aarvi. He held her tightly as she slumped in his arms, her face pale, and her breathing shallow. Her eyelashes fluttered, her lips forming the faintest of smiles before she slipped into unconsciousness, her head resting against his chest.
I.... I won't be able to live again without you.. please....please don't leave me Hazel.... please don't leave me.... I....I....I love you....please open your eyes! Darshil screamed, as tears rolled down his eyes.
Shiv walked and kneel beside him.
Darshil.... We need to take her to the hospital. Shiv said
Darshil nodded at him and lifted her into his arms. Together, they hurried to the car, Darshil cradling Aarvi in the backseat, his hands never leaving hers, as Shiv took the wheel and sped toward the hospital.
