Chapter 17

“Already?” Elliot asked in amazement. “I thought you said we’ll reach her lair in a day!”

“Her lair is still many hours away. But her territory is vast, and we are already in it.” Brock replied. “You better hang back here while I take her and her pack down. Do as we had planned earlier.”

“Oh. Okay.” Elliot quickly clambered down and got Jessica and Jennifer to do the same.

“Remember what I told you earlier? Wolves are afraid of fire and aggression. So don’t be afraid if some of the wolves get to our position. Just point the fiery end of your wooden staff at them and wave it while screaming loudly. They won’t attack.” Elliot reminded his sisters as he lit up the wooden staffs that they had prepared beforehand.

“Don’t worry brother, we’ll be fine.” Jessica assured him. “We may be young, but we are tough!”

Jessica winked at Jennier, who grinned at her.

“En. We’re braver and stronger than you think.” Jennifer told Elliot seriously. “You don’t have to worry about us at all!”

“Alright then. Even if the wolves get to us, we should still be fine. Afterall, the Snow Wolf isn’t the only one with a wolf pack.” Elliot grinned. “Summon wolves!”

Grey mists immediately swirled all around him and quickly disappeared, revealing 11 beautiful grey wolves who trotted up to Elliot and sniffed at the girls in a friendly manner.

“Kyaaa! You have wolves too? They are so beautiful!!” Jessica squealed as she patted the furry head of one near her.

“Oh they are so cool! Can I have one? Pretty pleaseee??” Jennifer immediately asked Elliot as she hugged the one sniffing at her fearlessly.

“They are not real wolves.” Elliot smiled at his two cute sisters and said. “They are summons and will disappear after a few hours.”

“Awwww boo.” Jennifer pouted.

“Don’t worry! We’ll be taming the Alpha wolf. She’ll probably have many baby wolves in her lair. You can have as many baby wolves as you want!”

“YEAH!!!” Jennifer brightened up considerably at his words and shoved her pinky toward him. “Pinky promise!”

“ME TOO! ME TOO!!” Jessica poked him with her pinky as well.

Elliot laughed and pinky promised them.

“Alright, now let’s get serious. Stand by that tree, hold your staffs properly and stay behind me. Wolves, circular defensive formation. Hawks, stay close and blind any wolf that dares to get close.”n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

The girls, the wolves and the hawks immediately obeyed.

All of them remained absolutely silent and prepared their hearts.

A battle was about to erupt.

And erupt, it did.

AWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Awoooo!! Awoooo!! Awooooo!!

GRAAAAAARRRRRRRRR!!!

BAM! CHOMP! BAM! BAM!

CRASH! CRASH CRASH!

Sounds of a massive fight between Brock and the Snow Wolf aided by her fearless pack reverberated throughout the forest.

Elliot and his two sisters gulped and waited anxiously for Brock to end the fight.

“Damn it. I want to see what’s happening! But I can’t leave my sisters alone.” Elliot cried out in his mind. “Hawk! Is there a way for me to see using Brock’s eyes or something?”

“What? I can actually do that? That’s pretty cool! I was actually just grasping at straws there mwa ha ha ha!” Elliot laughed happily in his mind. He didn’t mind not watching this battle as long as he could watch all the other battles in the future.

“What else is available at level 25? There is Beast Link and Potion Crafting already. Both seem like excellent skills to have!” Elliot asked Hawk.

However, before Hawk the AI could answer, Elliot felt a small hand grab hold of his shirt. It was Jennifer. “Never mind. Tell me later.” Elliot told the AI.

“I hope gramps is ok.” Jennifer whispered as she edged closer to Elliot and Jessica for comfort. Elliot glanced at Jennifer and realized that it must be a very stressful moment for his two sisters who had not been in such a dangerous situation before.

“He’ll be fine, don’t worry. He’s extremely powerful! Hey by the way, you girls want to hug Ellie and Rex?” Elliot asked.

“Yes! Yes please!” Jennifer said with shining eyes.

“Yes! Definitely!” Jessica said as well.

“Alright. Give me your staffs. Rex, Ellie, come on out!” Elliot took his sisters’ staffs and got the two baby beasts to come out. Without being told, both immediately jumped into the girls’ arms and began to purr and snort contentedly.

“Ah Jess Jess. Ellie miss Jess Jess!” Ellie said as she made herself comfortable in Jessica’s arms.

HUG! NICE! NICE! Came Rex’s thoughts from within Jennifer’s embrace.

Elliot chuckled helplessly. His two tamed beasts were beginning to prefer his sisters compared to him! But he was gratified. He loved both his sisters and his two new beasts.

Having them like each other and take care of each other seemed perfect to him.

Screech!! Elliot’s hawk suddenly gave a cry of warning.

“Little Master, some wolves are leaving the battle! Prepare to defend yourself!” Brock shouted in his mind.

“Wolves! Hawks! Get ready to greet the enemy!” The words barely left Elliot’s mouth when twenty, huge and ferocious-looking wolves burst through the trees in front and appeared before them.

SCREEEE!!

AWOOOOO!!!

Elliot’s hawks began their dive attack at the same time his wolves exploded into action.

Instantly, a desperate battle ensued.

The enemy wolves were slightly bigger than Elliot’s and outnumbered his by nine. Although Elliot had three hawks on his side, they were largely ineffective against such huge targets.

Elliot’s wolves were immediately placed in a defensive position. They could only try to dodge and slowly retreat from their enemies. Even so, they were very quickly sustaining small to medium injuries.
