Chapter 29: XXIX - "Hospital"

Silent But Deadly// COMPLETED✔️Words: 12548

I stepped out of the bathroom and walked into my walk in closet for an outfit. After last night I came straight home and fell asleep until I woke up this morning and went for a small jog. Earlier this morning I realized Liam and Blake must've been at the docks last night because they weren't here this morning for breakfast, but I guess this gives me more time to go to the Base and the Illium house today.

I know I should be going to the hospital right away but it would look too suspicious on how I knew they would be there without anybody contacting me before hand. So for now, I'm just waiting for someone to call me.

I pulled on my baggy denim pants with my white long sleeve crop top. I walked over to my vanity and grabbed my chapstick and slid on my White Air Force 1's.

I placed both of my phones in my small light blue bag along with my keys and wallet. I also packed my go-to bag with my jacket, mask, iPad, a gun, and a taser. I looked around for anything I was missing and when nothing looked out of place, I led Soldier's and I down to my car.

"How do you feel about a little snack before lunch boy?" I asked Soldier as I started the engine.

He barked in response and I pulled out of the driveway, "You are one smart fucking dog dude."

After a couple of minutes I pulled into the parking spot of the cafe and let Soldier follow me in. I walked up to the barista who I learned is named Riley, and she gave me a bright smile.

"The usual for today Veronica?" She beamed. I nodded my head and pulled out some cash. She gave me the change and passed me one of the doggy snacks I always get for Soldier when I'm here.

I sat down at a table and unwrapped the snack and threw one in the air for Soldier to catch, and luckily, he did. I giggled at his little talent and continued to do that until Riley called my name.

"One iced caramel macchiato for the lovely couple," Riley called out making me giggle at her tease. I grabbed the straw from the side and gave her a thankful nod before I walked back out to Robin.

I honestly think Riley's a nice girl, but right now I can't start any friendships, or ever. I don't want to create friendships that might end in death because of me or risk their life at all. It would be too much guilt on my conscience and I had just gotten over the fact that it wasn't my fault what Jewels did.

I pulled in to the large iron gates and placed my finger on the scanner, a loud buzz went off and the gates opened. I had Richard and a few men set up a new security system at the mansion so I could keep an eye out for any strange activity and such. It might of been a waste of money for the system but I'm going to thank myself one day for doing it.

I parked my car by the front door and unlocked it, sinking down into the sofa. I looked at Soldier for some entertainment but he looked at me just the same. I groaned and got up from my position on the sofa and started giving myself a tour around the house.

I may have been in and out of this mansion but I never really had the time to tour it. I've only really been going in and out of the office from time to time. I've been examining the blue prints out of boredom from time to time but that's about it, so I kind of know my way around this house.

The maid had told me that some rooms had been locked so they couldn't clean them, but fortunately Joe said that some of the keys that I have can unlock them, so I was kind of curious on what my brother was hiding in these rooms.

Checking through mostly empty rooms, I finally found a handle that wouldn't budge. I tried one of the keys that I had color coded and put it into the lock, but it wouldn't open. I continued through the other keys until the green one had unlocked it. I gripped onto the handle tightly and braced myself for what might be on the other side of this room. After taking a deep breath, I slowly turned the knob and pushed open the door.

Inside there was a large room that looked as big as my bedroom in Kai's house, maybe even bigger. The ceilings were high and lined with guns of many kinds. Knives and swords stood on poles that supported them on the wall across from me, bombs and grenades were left in heavy looking metal boxes lining up against the wall along the floor.

An armory, I thought. My brother truly did know his weapons, and he organized them perfectly.

I locked the door once again and continued looking for locked doors and came across many. They all held different things that could later on be useful to the Shattered Jewels, or maybe even the Deck of Cards.

After looking through all the rooms, there was one more that I needed to look through; the garage. I became eager once we started approaching the garage, and I knew I had saved the best for last.

I stepped into the dark room and felt around the wall for the light switch. Once I had finally caught it I flipped it on and gawked at the lined up lights that turned on individually throughout the huge garage.

Many cars lined the walls, all a different model of a different brand. Some motorcycles here and there and I almost cried as if it was heaven to me. The cars looked so beautiful lined up but they all needed to be cleaned because of some dust. Ferraris, Camaros, Lamborghinis, BMW, so many that I had already lost track of the muscle and sports cars. It was all too much to take in and I jumped in joy at my brother's taste in vehicles.

I was pulled out of my drooling when the ringing of my everyday phone started ringing and I pulled it out without looking at the Caller ID.

"Hello?"

"Diamonds, get to the hospital now," I heard Kai yell from the other line.

"Why? What's going on?" I asked dumbfoundedly as Soldier and I raced through the garage at full speed and out the front door.

"Liam and Blake are in the hospital, they were shot in a fight last night," Kai explained hesitantly.

"On my way," I said as I hopped into the car and started pulling out of the driveway. Luckily, the hospital was only a fifteen minute drive away from the Illium house, but I could make it five with Robin.

I sped out of the forest at 90mph, Soldier being completely unfazed at the gravity pull. Sometimes I wonder if this mother fucker is even a goddamn dog.

I swerved through the parking garage until I found a parking spot near the entrance of the hospital. Soldier and I jumped out and hurried our way into the hospital.

I looked around the waiting room frantically for a familiar face until I heard the sweet deep voice from behind me, "Diamonds." he called out.

I turned my head towards a drowsy Kai and engulfed him in a tight hug, "Are you okay?" I asked genuinely worried. I mean I just put a sedative in this guy, and my men just shot down Liam and Blake, of course I was worried. Now I couldn't help but feel like it was my fault that they're here.

"Ma'am, no animals are allowed-"

"This is her guard and he will stay as long as she wants him to," Kai barked at the doctor. The doctor gulped and nodded his head vigorously and shifted his gaze to his clip board.

"C'mon, I need to see my boys," I said pulled Kai in the direction he had come from.

He had shown me to a private area where his gang members were all healing, but stopped in front of a certain wooden door. He pushed the door open and when I went in, it wasn't at all what I was expecting.

Blake and Liam were in light blue hospital gowns while bandages were on their shoulders, necks, arms, and bruises and cuts all over their faces. They were laughing their asses off until they saw us come into the room.

"Hey Dia, you miss us?" Blake asked cockily.

"Not as much as you missed me," I fired back as I closed the door.

"Hm, true," He said hissing as he started sitting up.

"Dude, if it hurts, you probably shouldn't do it," I said in a 'duh' tone.

"But I wanna look at you better," he whined as he started arranging the pillows. Just then a small buzzing was heard from my right and I turned to see Liam pressing a button that lifted up the upper half of his bed, causing him to sit up.

"Show off," Blake mumled as Liam finished.

"I should've had them put into separate rooms," Kai muttered as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Hey, why don't you get some rest huh? All of you," I said as I rubbed Kai's shoulder.

As if on cue Liam yawned, "Yeah, I'm gonna get some rest," he said lowering the half of his bed so he could sleep properly. Blake started doing the same as I sat Kai down on the couch.

"You seem tired," I said as I pulled his jacket off of him, making him hiss at his sore muscles.

"Yeah, rough night," he said as he laid on his stomach.

An idea popped into my head and I walked out of the room to go find a doctor. When I turned a corner, I had spotted the same one I had seen earlier.

"Hey doc, here's how it's going to go. You're gonna give me your respect in return for mine, got it?" I cocked an eyebrow.

He nodded his head vigorously and I continued, "Do you guys have any peppermint oil?" I asked innocently.

He the pulled out the glass bottle from his coat pocket and handed it to me with shaky hands. I grabbed it after muttering a quick 'thanks' and rushed back into the room.

Kai had his head buried in his arms, still laying on his stomach when I walked in. The boys were sleeping so I sat on top off Kai's bottom and pulled his shirt up to reveal his back.

"If you wanted my shirt off you could've just asked princess," I heard him muffle into his arms. I slapped his back and sat back as he took off his shirt, revealing some hella attractive back muscles.

I poured the oil on him and started giving him a deep massage, letting him relax as my hands did their magic. Groans and satisfied grunts were heard from Kai as I massaged his sore parts and eased his tenseness.

"You're an angel," I heard him mumble into the pillow.

I giggled and continued to massage his back until he fell asleep. The sedative and the amount of stress he's been dealing with this past week must've really gotten to him. I wish we could spend more time together but we're both busy with different things, I just hate it.

I climbed off of Kai's back and decided to go look for the doctor that had been assigned to them. I walked around the area for awhile until he finally came out of another patient's room.

"Hey Doc," I yelled which made him snap his neck in my direction.

"What can I do for you?" He asked nervously.

"Liam Kollster and Blake Nickson, when will they be discharged?" I asked curiously.

He started flipping the pages until he stopped on one. He skimmed it and looked up to me with a lopsided smile, "Tomorrow morning, no later no less," he said politely.

"Great, if they happen to wake up just tell them I went home to get some shut eye," I said patting his shoulder.

I walked out of the hospital and opened the door for Soldier to get in. I rounded the car myself and we left to go to the base.

I would've stayed but I need to get look over some things with Joe and Richard. Besides, Kai is there and he can probably deal with a war without my presence. Shattered Jewels is growing, and it's growing pretty fast with how much my gang has been working. Members have been in and out of the warehouse to speak to me about the shipments, Soldier and I have been getting a lot of respect, and we're making triple the profit from when my brother was leader. Everything is going just great for only a week.

I pulled into the lot and quickly grabbed my jacket and mask. I slipped both on and grabbed both of my bags to head upstairs to my office. As I was walking my gang phone started ringing and I fished it out of my bag and answered it.

"Hello?"

"Silver, we have something to discuss about the business," Richard said on the other line.

I hung up the phone and walked up the stairs to my office to see Richard coming out of his own. When he saw me he stopped in his tracks and looked at me confusedly, "You work fast," he mumbled.

I shrugged my shoulders and unlocked the door to my office and slumped down into my chair with Richard in tow. Soldier stood guard right next to me and stared at Richard.

"What's going on?" I asked as I took off my mask.

"Well, one of the prostitutes didn't get paid, but they did their service," he said while looking through the file.

"Do we know who he is?" I asked as I filled Soldier's bowl up with water.

"Yeah, we have him in the basement of the complex right now," he said while handing me the folder.

I gladly took it and skimmed through it, "Great, where's Joe?"

"He's there as we speak," he said smugly.

I smirked and looked down at Soldier, "Cmon boy, we have a lesson to teach."
