Chapter 37: XXXVII - "Decorating"

Silent But Deadly// COMPLETED✔️Words: 10438

After many hours of doing paperwork, a knock on my door pulled me out of my workaholic trance, "Come in," I replied without looking up.

I heard the door open and a sign escape their lips, "Oh thank God, I thought someone had broke into the base since it wasn't your car outside," Joe said as he sat down onto the old leather seat.

I chuckled and continued writing, "Nope, just using those cars more often now since I'm living there," I explained.

"That's good boss, who's the kid?" He asked gesturing to a sleeping George.

"Hey, I'm a kid," I pointed out.

"Yeah, but you're also my boss. And you wouldn't like it if I called you a kid right?" He reasoned with a 'look'.

"Yeah- we- you-," after miserably failing of trying to find a comeback I gave up, "shut up."

He laughed at his victory and I rolled my eyes, "He's family. Came to see me in action, why are you here so early? It's only 8:00 a.m.?"

He sighed and ran a hand down his face, "Well, better here than not, am I right?" He asked as he shrugged his shoulders.

"Right. By the way I need you to run down and take care of the meth shipment from Ukraine and check on our construction company as well. Make sure their getting their full payments because they seem a little low here," I said gesturing to some papers of the business.

"Got it boss-"

"Oh and make sure Richard gets the file of the gun trafficking and talks to the breeders of our cocaine shipment from Japan, good?" I added in.

"Yes boss-"

"Oh and Joe?" I asked innocently.

"Yes boss?" He asked with a hint of annoyance in his voice.

"Just wanted to tease you," I giggled. He rolled his eyes and walked out the door to his office. My eyes shifted to George who was sitting on the sofa wide awake now. I grabbed a bottle from my mini fridge and passed it to him. He caught it skillyfully and gulped down all the contents of the bottle.

"Let's go get food dude," I said as I started cleaning everything up.

He got up and started moving towards me, "You really do have everything under control here."

"Do I take that as a compliment or a comment?" I asked confused.

"Both, I guess," he chuckled.

Soldier, George, and I went down the stairs and towards the car so we could head to the cafe. I've missed hanging out with George, it was almost as if I forgot how close we actually were. And the good part is, we could spend so much time away from each other but still talk as if we didn't even go a minute without talking. It's one of my favorite things we do and I remember some people being envious of our friendship since we still held onto each other, even after he graduated. Especially the fact that he had always put me first instead of his girlfriends whenever they would insult me. He's so overprotective of people being negative towards me and it's one of the reasons why I call him my brother, because he loves me just like one.

During breakfast, George and I had cracked up jokes of old memories when we were kids, and we even messed around in some stores a little bit. We bought some things for the house; groceries, bed accessories, etc. It was all so fun with George being by my side, he brings me back to my old self whenever I feel like I had lost it, and these are one of those times.

"So do you plan on going to college?" George asked as we walked down the aisles for the groceries.

"Of course, why would you think otherwise?" I asked surprised.

"Well, I mean with how well your business is going for you, do you think you even have to?" He asked curiously.

"A degree would help the business actually," I gave him a look that told him I'd explain more later.

He nodded his head in understanding and started picking out apples, "What about more guard dogs?" He asked.

"I'm not sure, dogs like Soldier are one of a kind, aren't you boy?" I asked. He jumped in response and I giggled.

"Well, what about travelling? Do you plan on travelling around a little bit? Oh, can I come?" He asked with wide eyes.

I scoffed dramatically and looked at him, "Please, if I travel the world without my best friend then it's a world that I don't want to travel," I explained.

We both laughed at my form of wording and checked my groceries out. We loaded the bed of his truck that also held the other many things we bought today and started heading back towards the mansion.

I started calling the maid services and asked for the same maids they had sent last time, as well as the gardeners. I had also called up some 'around the clock' chefs and told them to come to the house too.

"What are you doing for Christmas?" I asked as I ended the calls.

"Well I don't know actually," he replied hesitantly.

"Great, you're coming to my house for dinner," I demanded.

"Well when you say it like that..." We both laughed and continued our way to the mansion.

Once we had gotten inside we had started putting the groceries away in the fridge and pantries. When the doorbell rang I rushed out to get it with George and Soldier in tow.

When I opened it the familiar faces beamed at me and I let them in the house, "Okay great, you're all here. So if you all don't mind I would appreciate it if you guys continued to work around the clock six days a week, you can switch shifts with each other but I just need some help around the house, good?" I asked the group of people.

They all nodded their heads and I started giving out orders, "Chefs, the ingredients to some pies and dishes are in the fridge and inside the pantries, go ahead and start dinner. Gardeners, the yards need a little trim and a small clean up as well, and if you don't mind clearing out the pool a little as well. Maids, work around the house and clean up every room in here, and report back to me how many rooms have mattresses in them, how many are completely empty, other rooms that aren't used or have mattresses in them, and the bathrooms as well as the windows. Go."

At my signal the men and women started running around the house doing what they were told, but I pulled three maids to the side and gave them other instructions, "Do you mind if you three go into my master bedroom and start arranging it yourselves? The bags hold different things inside but there's a big brown bag that holds the bed sheets and such," I asked.

They all nodded their heads and two of them went to go to my bedroom but the one who I had recognized from last time stayed behind, "And what about the locked rooms miss?"

"Just don't mind them, and also, what you find in this house stays in this house," I assured her and she walked away to do as told.

"Geez Diamonds, you're kind of scary when you're giving out orders," George commented as I walked back over to him.

"It's all part of the job," I giggled at him.

I had went back up to my room to tell the maid, who I learned is named Linda, that I was going to be out before dinner. I know I have security cameras in my house, but I just wanted to let them know.

"Where are we going?" George asked as we all went back into the car.

"To get a Christmas tree silly," I laughed and pulled out of the driveway.

After about three hours of Christmas tree shopping and decorations, we had finally come back home to the house beautifully cleaned. The fountain had lights shining up to it from the bottom as water poured from the peak of the diamond, and the marble floors were left spotless, as well as the windows and the walls. Yes, the fucking walls.

Some gardeners had helped set the Christmas tree up near the fire place while the maids set up the decorations around the house. George and I, and two other maids, had set candy canes, ornaments, tinsel, and poinsettia all around the tree. It's always been a Christmas tradition for us to put the star up on Christmas day, so we waited until then.

The tree was massive, it was bigger than a normal sized Christmas tree, which I was regretting now. Red, green, gold, and silver decorated it and I was impressed by our work.

It was so fun spending so much time with George that I had forgotten all about Kai. This was what I needed to forget about him, that was what I needed to move on, and I was proud of myself. No man was going to get in the way of my happiness now, and no man will. I needed to absorb this moment while I still can and just hope for a better future.

The chefs called us for dinner and George and I sat across from each other on the huge dining table. Soldier, as always, by my side and ready to munch into his food. I gave him the 'go' signal and he ate like he hadn't eaten in a million years.

"So do these maids know anything about the gang?" George asked quietly.

"Dude, I fucking bought their business," I deadpanned. It was actually one of the reasons why I had called for the same people, because they already know the house and they know what I expect to see. But that doesn't mean I can't be nice to them.

"Dude what the fuck," he breathed out as he shoved a piece of steak in his mouth.

"Yeah, you gonna stay the night or some shit?" I asked.

"Yeah, I wanna check out your theatre room," he chuckled.

After dinner I called all of the workers back down into the foyer. After they had reported to me about the rooms I started off, "Thank you all for your service today, gardeners, you did great, please come every Sunday morning of the week. Maids, your work was excellent, half of you can come this week, and the other half can come the following week, and so on. Chefs, you guys can switch or come together every day around the clock, I loved the dinner you served tonight. Six to seven a clock every morning please, and also, whatever you see in this house, we never speak a word of it, got it?" They all nodded their heads, some in fear, and headed out as I dismissed them.

"What movie we watching tonight?" George asked as I let Soldier out back.

"How about, Grown Ups?" I asked smirking.

Grown Ups is George's favorite movie, so I don't know why I was asking if he was gonna say-

"Yes! Fuck yeah!" He pumped his fist into the air as I locked the back door when Soldier came back in.

We both walked into the theatre room and started the movie as we sank into the recliners. Mental note: buy huge bean bags.

I started thinking about the boys and how they had scared me while I was watching a movie. They were dying of laughter and before I used to grow annoyed of it, but now I kind of miss it. But I couldn't think like that, I'm here with my two favorite boys in the world right now, there's nothing more that I've wanted.
