"And how have you guys been?" Blake asked gingerly once I sat down at the table.
"Amazing," Kai beamed. He had one of his most rarest smiles on his face and he devoured his lunch.
"That's good," Liam said with a genuine smile as he watched his leader eat. Both of them then looked up to me and gave me a thumbs up in appreciation, and I just nodded my head.
"Where's our furry friend?" Blake asked as he looked around the table for Soldier.
"Groomers," Kai said in between chews.
I ate my lunch as I finished some homework for my morning classes. Kai had apparently been so hungry that he finished my lunch for me when he noticed I wasn't eating it, and even though I was a little hungry, Kai's well being matters more. I just drank the rest of my juice and continued on finishing my assignments so I could have time to go to my base today, and I'm sure Kai needs to get his work done as well.

"Where you guys headed to?" Liam asked as we walked towards the parking lot.
"Kai is going to go with you guys and do some gang business he needs to take care of, I'm going to the base-"
"Woah woah woah, why can't I come with you?" Kai asked a little worried.
"Because your gang needs their leader and your clinginess should not be an excuse for not getting your shit done," I whispered harshly.
Kai stood there in thought for a few seconds before an idea came to mind, "How about I bring my paperwork with and we can work on our own thing at your base?" He asked hopefully.
"Really Kai? You can't go one afternoon without Dia?" Blake asked in disbelief.
Kai stood there processing his words. Did he really miss me that much that he doesn't want to leave my side now? Have I really made this big of an impact on Kai's life that he can't actually eat, sleep, or work properly if I'm not around? I'm not sure what goes through Kai's mind, but I hope I'm not actually the reason why his life has taken a drastic turn to hell.
"Kai, tell me the truth. Am I really the reason why you can't live like you used to?" I asked softly. I needed to know if I had actually done this much damage to him, because if it's true then I can't possibly leave him alone.
He stood there staring at his feet before he quietly answered, "Diamonds I missed you," he whispered.
Here we are in the middle of an empty highschool parking lot where all four of us are discussing Kai's clinginess to me. Yeah, never thought I'd ever say that sentence.
"You didn't answer my question," I said sternly.
I was starting to get frustrated with myself for letting people into my life. For talking in the first place and making that stupid deal with Kai for the fight. I regret giving Sammy my hoodie and revealing my tattoo to everybody in that goddamn cafeteria. All because I wouldn't have met Kai Finnels, and I wouldn't have appreciated him the way I do now.
Yes, I'll admit, I enjoy hanging out with Kai Finnels. And from as long as I've been in his presence I've noticed he's not as cold as most think he is. He's so sweet and caring he deserves the world and a couple of stars in the galaxy, but you need to learn to make peace with yourself first before you risk anything with other people. I liked Kai so much but I was good at hiding it, but him, not so much. I want to wake up in the morning with him by my side always, I want to have morning breakfasts with him before we go to school and I want to see him giving new toys to Soldier every time he comes around but I can't.
This mission is way too important for any distractions and my gang is depending on me to help keep them aloft. And if I fail them I'll also feel disappointed in myself for letting a guy into my life and distracting me from my way of keeping myself on my feet.
But right now, I can help him. I can help him get back to his old and hard working self for the time being. I can help him stay focussed at the task at hand and I can help him with so many other things as well. I just care so much for him and I don't want to leave him by himself.
"Yes," he said scratching the back of his neck.
I let out a sigh of frustration and the gears in my head started moving along with my words, "You're going to ride with Liam to your house and get the things that you have to work on. I'll be following you guys there and we'll both ride to the base together on the Harley, got it?" I asked pointing a finger at him. If he really can't work properly without me, his gang might be damned.
He nodded his head frantically and they all got in their cars as I started the Harley. I followed Liam and Blake's car to Kai's house and waited for him to grab his papers. After he had come back outside the house we rode all the way to the base and I parked in the underground garage.
"Diamonds you really did outdo yourself with your base," Kai said as he looked out the window behind my desk.
"Mhm," I hummed as I flipped through my paperwork with scrunched eyebrows.
I heard a knock on my door but I didn't lift my head up, "Come in."
Joe came in with a file and set it down on my desk, "What's he doing here?" Joe said glaring at Kai.
"He's just here, that's all you need to know. Get Richard in here as well," I fired back.
As Joe went to go get Richard I looked onto the monitor and checked some data as Kai laid back down on the beanbag and continued his paperwork.
Soon both of them came into my office and sat down, "You needed us boss?" Richard asked.
"Where's the shipment of cocaine from Japan?" I asked confused.
"It's already at the warehouse. The men are distributing them as we speak," Richard answered.
"Ok great. I need you to go to the apartment complex and figure out the situation with Candy, apparently a man had put a gun to her head but our men had taken him down before shooting her, so look into that. Joe, go through our hotels and restaurants files and check in with the managers to see how content our employees are because apparently our prices are a little low here-"
"We're only short $3,000 for the restaurants and $2,000 for the hotels though-"
"Still too low for my liking. Figure out the situation and have you guys gotten any answers out of our hostages?" I asked boredly.
"Not a single peep," Richard complained.
"Have some of our most faithful men get down there and crack em, just make sure they don't kill them," I said shrugging my shoulders.
"What are you going to do boss?" Joe asked as they got up to leave my office.
"Meetings and phone calls, no biggie, good luck," I smiled at them and they left to do as told.
I know I should be a little skeptical with my discussions of work in front of other gang leaders, but I didn't really care. Because Kai knows that if he says a single peep about my business I will shoot him.
"Has anyone ever told you you're scary when you're bossy?" Kai blurts out after a few seconds.
"So I've been told," I chuckled.
I took out my gang phone and dialed a number as I put it on speaker.
"Hello?" He greeted.
"Jake, how's everything going?" I ask as I look through the file Joe gave me.
"Well we're still working out the details for the plan, since we'll start taking action in two days," He explained.
"Alright just wanted to check in. And hey, call if you guys need anything, we're in this together. Come by tomorrow after school and we'll start setting everything up, yeah?" I asked in an assuring tone.
"Of course, see you then," and he hung up.
I got up from my chair and walked over to my mini fridge and grabbed a juice for Kai and a water for me. Once he skillfully caught it he chugged the contents down and finished all of his paperwork.
"You're not done?" Kai asked surprised. "It's late we should head back."
I ignored Kai and finished the rest of the paperwork I had left. Once I had finished I grabbed my things as well as Kai and we took the secret elevator down to the underground garage. I let him drive the Harley all the way back to the house with me on the back in a death grip.
Should I actually give Kai another chance? With what he did to me, should I consider if it was out of spite? I wanted to talk to him about it so bad, but I was afraid I might end up hurting myself with my curiosity. I just need answers and he doesn't seem like he wants to talk about it either.

Kai
I wanted to talk about what happened. I wanted to give her an explanation for my actions and I wanted to tell her that I... I...
I love her...
I didn't figure it out until she had blocked me out from her life and I realized how much I love her. She put me under her spell and I'm falling, and I'm not sure if she feels the same. We sleep in the same bed together, but it doesn't mean she has to like it. Maybe she feels uncomfortable around me now, but she just tolerates it because we have to be around each other for this mission to work out. I just want her to know how much I love her, how much she means to me, and I think I have the perfect idea.
"Diamonds?" I ask as I crawl into the bed next to her. She's been engrossed in her textbooks since dinner ended, does she ever take a break?
"Mhm?" She answers absentmindedly.
"How about we skip school tomorrow, and we do something together," I offer nervously.
She snapped her head to me with a look of confusion, "Why?"
"You seem really stressed with the gang work and your education. And I don't think we would have any other time to do it because of this mission and all, and I just want to help you relax," I explain in a mumble.
I really wanted to do this for her, like a date, because the first one didn't go so well. I wanted to spend time with her and see her cute little smile on her face because I haven't seen it since New York. She seems as if she has a lot on her mind, and I just want to help her clear it.
"We have a test tomorrow in chemistry and History, I can't miss it," she said sadly. I couldn't help but feel like she was just making excuses so she didn't have to spend time with me. No, I wasn't going to let her go, I was going to gain her back.
"Wilson can arrange something for you, please?" I begged.
"Kai, that wouldn't be fair," she deadpanned.
I sucked in a breath and an idea popped in my head, "How about you just go for afternoon classes then? In the morning we can do something, please?"
She looked away for a second and tapped her pencil on her textbook. She looked deep in thought and I just hope she'd consider it, she's too precious and she deserves just a little break.
"Fine, but it better be good," she said pointing her pencil threatingly at me.
"Promise," I said serious.
Fuck yeah!
I'm going to spoil her so much, I'm going to make her the happiest she's been in awhile. I'm going to give her the best morning and then she can take her test with an easy mindset. I felt proud of myself that I was finally going to make her happy, I was going to make her feel loved.
