Chapter 9: DD Island

“It’s time for another episode of Murder Mayhem Battle Arena we also just call it Mayhem. The number-one rated show in the galaxy. I’m your host, Jack with your beautiful co-host Jenny the robot. We are currently on DD Island which is to the far east of the city of Boe. We are on day three with 45 participants alive out of the one hundred that started on the island.” Announcer Jack states.

“So what’s in store for today’s show?” Jenny asks Jack.

“More death of course Jenny, I also do like the location of this year's Murder Mayhem. The island has a jungle in the middle of it with plenty of open spots for battle and sandy beaches surrounding the entire terrain. Not only do you have to slaughter the participants of the show but you also have to survive the island's natural killer creatures.” Jack says.

“So who’s the kill leader so far Jack?” Jenny asks.

“The devourer has twenty-four kills so far and is this year's kill leader,” Jack responds.

“How did one creature get twenty-four kills in three days?” Jenny asks.

“ Let me explain if you haven’t seen the devourer before, some say it was made by the Demi to hunt the Reapers. It is a large creature with an odd head and it has a large mouth with spiked teeth on its belly. The creature can swallow someone whole with the mouth on its belly. It also has the power to change everything it eats into zombies that it spits out of its belly mouth. The majority of its kills have been due to its zombie creations that roam the island.” Jack explains.

“Simply fascinating, sounds like a nightmare to deal with, to be honest. So what's the prize of this year's Mayhem?” Jenny asks.

“The Baw sword of course. It’s the biggest claymore on the planet, with legendary power some say it could even cut down a Golem.” Jack states and the viewers of the show get to see the Baw sword on a podium.

“Looks marvelous,” Jenny states.

“Alright, let’s quit the idle chit-chat and get the show on the road. “ Jack says.

A camera flies on top of a drone. It is high in the sky and surveys the entire island. The camera follows a horde of zombies that are roaming the beaches and then it zooms into the jungle and spots the devourer eating a creature with its belly. The drone flies to the other side of the map. It spots a green-haired Kaisii using a new weapon cutting through branches in the jungle to the south of the island. Kaisii was holding two bladed purple stars that were razor sharp and made from the new metal that was discovered. The stars could be thrown and were connected by a thin electric wire. It could extend and then retract back to Kaisii’s hands making it a deadly weapon.

“Here we spot the lady from the Reaper Clan, Miss Kaisii of course,” Jack states.

“How is she doing so far?” Jenny asks.

“Kaisii has four kills so far. The Reaper clan has always had entertaining participants. Cin was the kill leader both times he won MMBA.” Jack states.

“Warning, drop incoming.” A screen flashes in the sky with giant letters. A large cube gets released by a spaceship and flies toward the ground. Kaisii looks up into the sky and starts to charge up her energy. Kaisii notices that the drop is going to land close to her location so she starts to run towards it. Kaisii throws her spinning stars ahead of her cutting through multiple branches while running at a fast pace through the jungle environment. The cube crashes to the ground like a mile ahead of her. The drone notices a pack of zombies with glowing eyes traveling near her. Eventually the zombies ambush Kaisii. Kaisii reacts quickly and jumps backward as a zombie lunges at her. Kaisii transfers energy to her stars and throws them with a flick of each of her wrists. The stars cut horizontally through each of the zombies' heads in a clean motion. Kaisii spots the open terrain and an open cube in front of her. A large mech droid is shooting an energy cannon at packs of zombies which heard the explosion of the cube hitting the ground. It seems like this mech droid got to the cube first and is reaping the rewards. The mech droid spots Kaisii and starts to charge his energy cannon at her.

“Know what they call this weapon girl?” Mech droid shouts at her. Kaisii shakes her head and starts to gather energy.

“The Annihilator 9000, bitch.” The mech droid shouts then fires a large beam of energy at her. Kaisii shifts energy to her legs and swiftly sidesteps the beam of energy. The mech droid screams and keeps blasting her. Kaisii shifts her green energy into her star weapons and then throws them at the beams of energy, the stars start to spin and reflect the energy in random directions. One of the reflected beams hits the mech droid’s left arm at the shoulder which cuts it off.

“They call my weapons the star killas.” Kaisii boasts. The mech droid looks panicked. Then Kaisii screams and throws her stars ahead of her. Kaisii flicks her wrists in multiple directions and the empowered stars shred the mech’s body into pieces. Kaisii runs up to the cube to look inside it. Inside the cube are some stim packs and food capsules. Kaisii quickly grabs everything left in the cube, then leaves the area before anyone else can make it there. Kaisii dashes into the jungle and then heads south with the drone still showing her on screen.

“Fantastic! That gives her five kills now. It also looks like she won’t be taking the A-9000. Interesting decision to have faith in her weapons.” Jack tells everyone watching the program.

“I love her outfit, she can kill and dress with style, sounds like the perfect soulmate,” Jenny says with hearts in her eyes.

“We will check in on her later,” Jack says, then the background starts to flash.

“Time for an arena battle!” Jenny shouts.

“Two random participants get teleported to a random location and fight to the death. Let’s enjoy the entertainment.” Jack announces.

A large black creature that has a raven’s head and a body composed of mainly feathers appears in a rocky terrain, it looks like the middle of a volcano and magma is dripping from different rocks. Then a giant creature appears covered in vines. They stand opposite of each other in a staring match. A large barrier gets created to prevent them from fighting. A flying screen appears with the announcers' faces on it.

“As you can see we are at the base of a volcano and the volcano will erupt soon. Have a good fight for the viewers.” Jack grins.

“I wouldn’t want to be in their spot,” Jenny mentions.

“Is it getting a little hot in here? Jenny?” Jack asks as magma burns all around them.

“What are their names?” Jenny asks.

“The first one that arrived is called Rave. Half-man and half-raven. Participant number 39. The vine creature is called Darr’veus. Participant number 73. Who do you think will win? Vote now viewers.” Jack explains.

Two little square icons for black or green appear with their names on the screen. The numbers start to skyrocket for the green icon.

“Looks like the majority of watchers think Darr’veus will win,” Jack says.

“Let’s find out.” Jenny grins.

The barrier disappears and the vine creature shoots out its massive vines at Rave. Rave turns into a hundred black energy ravens that scatter in multiple directions. They all gather and then form into eight different black demons that shoot beams of black energy at the vine creature. Darr starts to gather his energy and then combines his vines into four massive vines. The vines smash down on the black demon images destroying six demon images. The two remaining demon images combine and form Rave again. Rave starts to charge his energy and his wings start to glow with energy. His wings grow in size and then block the vines attacking him.

“CAW” Rave shouts as he charges at Darr’veus. Darr’s vines surge at Rave who cuts them into pieces by slashing with his wings. The camera sees a group of vines being ripped to pieces by the black matter wings. Molten magma starts to crash in on different rocks surrounding them and starts to narrow the fighting location, causing both fighters to move closer together. Rave summons black clouds that tear apart the vines and then Rave puts his wings into the air. Rave channels his black energy into a black ball of energy in the sky. Darr looks up in horror and then shields himself by forming a protective ball of vines. The black ball of energy falls down onto Darr causing a massive explosion. A barrier forms between the two of them.

“Fighting time is over,” Jack announces.

“Who do you think won Jack?” Jenny asks.

“Well, this time it is up to the viewers to vote once again. Audience please vote for who you think the winner in this galactic battle is. Green for Darr’veus and black for Rave. Vote now!” Jack suggests.

“Now for a word from our sponsors.” Jenny.

You see an ad for a cyborg drinking a Slurp soda after he finishes the drink, he feels empowered. The Slurp man repeatedly slaps another man across the face. Then you see KO in giant letters and the man poses with the Slurp can. You see Jenny and Jack setting at a table.

“The winner is Rave,” Jack announces.

Rave mysteriously disappears by teleportation. The camera zooms in on Darr’veus as the volcano erupts and magma starts to swallow the other area whole. Darr attempts to shield themselves with vines but it is too late. Darr’veus finally gets covered in magma. The screen switches back to the announcers.

“So how about we check on our kill leader,” Jack tells the show.

“The devourer?” Jenny asks.

The perspective turns back to a drone that is high in the sky. It zooms in on a beach and sees the devourer. It has a horde of mutated zombies surrounding it all eating a random stray animal. The devourer is in the middle and its belly mouth is eating some sort of hairy creature. The sharp belly mouth teeth are tearing through flesh. The drone goes invisible and then flies closer for a better view of the camera. The belly mouth finishes its meal.

“That was tasty but I’m still hungry.” Belly mouth says.

“You’ve eaten enough already. Let’s wait for everyone to kill each other, then we will slaughter the rest.” Devourer's head says.

“No, I want more.” Belly mouth argues back.

“You’ve had enough today, shut up. I’m tired of talking to you, why was I created with you.” Devourer's head argues back.

“Fine, I’ll stop talking but let’s find food soon. Okay?” Belly Mouth asks with a grin.

“Imbecile.” Devourer's head says.

“What did you call me? Someday… I’ll eat you. Then I’ll be in control.” Belly responds.

“You’re too dumb for that, all you do is eat,” Devourer responds.

“Your nothing without me. I devour everyone. I need more food.” Belly replies.

The devourer shakes his head and then keeps moving with a horde of zombies on the sand beaches. The belly mouth lets out a burp and then spits out a new hairy mutated zombie. It has glowing yellow eyes and has the features of an alien ape. The horde of zombies all seem to be different creatures. Some look human with leftover cybernetic implants still on them. The devourer was seen as a necromancer it had full control of all its alien zombies. A large army of mutated crabs emerges from beneath the sand and attacks the zombies with their pincers. They tear through the first line of zombies. The zombie ape starts to grow larger in size and then jumps into the group of mutated crabs. It grabs one of the crabs and then swings it around in circles. Then it smashes the crab holding onto its friends. Finally, it starts throwing the crabs into the belly mouth of the devourer. The belly mouth swallows each crab that is thrown into it whole.

“Morning snack anyone?” Jack asks.

“Gross, can we watch someone else?” Jenny asks.

“Don’t enjoy seafood? Even if it is mutated. On second thought let’s check out some of the other competitors.” Jack states.

A hover bot flies through the sky and looks around for competitors. It spots a creature that has a big body and a white tiger’s head. It is standing upright and carrying a large axe with both of its paws. The creature starts to cut through the forest environment. The camera spots a four-eyed green alien hiding at the top of a tree. The green alien is holding a spear and charging his energy. He waits for a creature standing on two legs with a Tiger’s head to get below him and then leaps down, pointing his spear at the Tiger’s head.

“Who are these two fierce competitors?” Jenny asks.

“Tyga is the white fur tiger creature and the green creature with the spear is Hyru. They are fighters numbered 22 and 89.” Jack states.

Tyga notices just in time and puts his axe in front of the spear which blocks the blow. Tyga roars and then swings his axe downwards almost cutting Hyru in two. Hyru quickly dodges and then jumps back onto another tree. Tyga runs at the tree and cuts it in two. Hyru leaps away to another tree and then throws his spear. Once again Tyga deflects the spear with his giant axe. Hyru puts his hands together and the spear magically returns to him.

“Come down and fight me.” Tyga roars.

“Intelligent fighting is more important than brutal force. I’d rather keep my distance.” Hyru shouts back.

Hyru keeps throwing his spear and then recalling it while staying on the branches. Tyga runs up to each tree and cuts them down one at a time. Hyru jumps to another tree when Tyga cuts them down.

“Oh the poor trees, have mercy.” Jenny the robot cries out.

“Maybe we should make bets on how many trees Tyga will destroy?” Jack asks.

“This could last awhile, let’s check in on our next competitor,” Jenny states.

The camera switches to the next drone that is close to the two competitors fighting. The view turns to a small chimpanzee with four arms holding four daggers sitting in a bush. The chimp also could turn his hands into daggers. The chimp hears trees come crashing down near him.

“What’s that little guy's name?” Jenny asks.

“Jed a mutated chimpanzee. The data shows that it has three kills so far.” Jack states.

Jed climbs a tree and starts to swing from tree to tree by a vine. Jed spots Hyru about to throw his spear at Tyga. Hyru throws his spear and once again Tyga deflects it. Jed throws all four daggers each hitting Hyru in all four of his eyes. Hyru screams out in pain and recalls his spear, then starts to swing wildly around. Jed jumps on top of Hyru and retrieves his daggers then cleanly slices off Hyru’s head.

“That was my kill, monkey,” Tyga screams and then cuts down the tree with Jed in it. Jed rolls his eye and sticks out his tongue. Then Jed starts to jump along the trees and Tyga chases him.

“What a clever little guy, and quite skillful. This year’s contenders look fantastic.” Jack states.

“We should follow this chimp. It’s so cute. But I wonder how my girl Kaisii is doing. Does she have a lot of blood on her fabulous outfit yet?” Jenny asks.

“We will find out, right after a word from our sponsors,” Jack replies
