Book 4: Chapter 10: Exposed Identity?
The next dayâ¦
Early in the morning, Lilith went to the place which Mord had previously told her about alone â the disciplinary committee in the eastern district.
A huge waterfall cascaded down the mountain like a Milky Way and into the Dragon God Lake in the east.
Under the refraction of water vapor, a colorful rainbow arched across the waterfall all year round, making the place seem like a paradise on earth.
On both sides of the mountain, there were two extremely luxurious villa courtyard-style buildings that housed the two major official student committees â the disciplinary committee and the student union.
As soon as Lilith stepped through the doors of the disciplinary committee, the waterfall noise instantly vanished from her ears. Her surroundings turned extremely quiet. It would seem like there was a powerful soundproof spell in place.
Even so, it was too quiet.
She not only couldnât hear any noises, but also the studentsâ voices. It was almost as if she had come to an empty secret realm.
âDonât tell me all of them went on leave on the same day.â
Lilith muttered under her breath while she knocked on a door that was labelled the âPresidentâs Officeâ.
âCome in.â
A gentle female voice rang out from the other side of the door.
Lilith breathed a sigh of relief. It was good that someone was in today since she only came here to report herself in.
She pushed open the door. There was a huge French window across the room, and the magnificent scenery of the Dragon God Lake could be seen.
It took Lilith 0.1 second to readjust to the sudden increase in brightness before she could get a clear look of the woman sitting behind the desk.
The smile on her face was as refreshing as the spring breeze, and she was as gorgeous as the peaceful Dragon God Lake behind her. Her every move had that gentle grace. Just being watched by her would make one feel as though they were enveloped by the warm sunshine.
âI believe this is the first time weâve met. Iâm Diana, the current president of the Disciplinary Committee. Have a seat, Lilith.â
âYou know me?â
âWell, since you were a candidate that Elder Mord had personally recommended, I have to investigate your formidable background.â
âI donât think I have a formidable background.â
Lilith scratched her head and found herself a seat, unfazed by the presence of such a high-ranking figure.
âYou must be joking, Lilith.â
Diana skillfully poured a cup of tea and set it down in front of Lilith. âI hope you donât mind that we donât have anything fancier to offer other than a cup of tea.â
âNot a problem.â Lilith took out a tea set from her storage ring. She brewed a cup of top-quality black tea and placed it in front of Diana. âI have some premium tea here.â
Diana was stunned for a moment before smiling.
âLilith, you are really a wonderful person.â
âIâm not wonderful, Iâm just rich.â
Diana took a sip from the teacup.
âLilith, youâre not a human, right?â
ââ¦Oh my, how could you insult me that way on our first meeting?â
âPlaying stupid is not a good habit. You know what Iâm trying to say.â
Lilith fell silent. Murderous intent began to gather in her eyes.
âDonât be upset. Iâm not the only one who knows about this.â
âNot only you?â
âOf course. The people of the upper tier in this academy knew.â
Lilithâs eyes widened in surprise. She thought she had concealed her aura so perfectly that she even went unnoticed by Carolâs father. How did the people of the upper tier in this academy find out?
What would they plan to do next? Build a relationship with her so that they could exploit the dragons?
That didnât really seem like the case though.
Or would they take her hostage and threaten the Dragon Queen into doing something?
No, no. They would never risk getting their race annihilated unless they lost their minds.
Lilith grew uncertain.
âYour reaction is very interesting, Lilith,â Diana teased. âRest assured. Neither the academy nor I will do anything to you. This is the St. Caroline Academy of the Holy Dragon Empire. Tolerance is our biggest strength.â
âHow did you all find out that Iâm not a human?â
âHaha. I have to admit, you have really concealed your aura perfectly. I canât even detect a trace of aura that didnât belong to a human, even though youâre just sitting in front of me. If it werenât for your glorious achievements, the academy would never have realized your true identity.â
âGlorious achievements?â
âSeems like you havenât realized it yet, Lilith.â
Diana drummed her slender fingers on the desk.
âTwo days ago, a third-year student and a dozen candidates who came to sit for their entrance exam were beaten at one of the restaurants in St. Caroline City.â
âDuring the entrance exam, you easily defeated the two of your best peers on the same day.â
âYesterday, it took only a punch from you to knock the lights out our best second-year student, Kieran.â
âNo martial skills nor magic spells were involved. Just brute force.â
âThis isnât something that a thirteen or fourteen-year-old girl is capable of. At least, definitely not a human.â
Diana rested her chin on her palm. âDo you have anything to refute, Lilith?â
ââ¦No.â
She was too careless. Even if she had perfectly concealed her aura, the innate limits of a human being slipped her mind.
Not even she herself had ever seen a human girl that could knock the lights out of someone with just a punch.
What should she do? Kill everyone? No, more like she should raze this academy to the ground.
Maybe she should just seek advice from her clan.
However, there was a high chance that the plan of razing this place to the ground would pass.
âDonât be nervous. Didnât I say that nothing will happen to you? Whatâs with that sense of crisis I feel coming from you?â Diana cleared her throat before continuing.
âThe fact that Elder Mord has agreed to give you the position of vice president means that he has faith in your capability and tolerates your identity, although Iâm not too sure what your true form isâ¦â
âEh? Wait⦠You guys donât know my true form?â Lilith interrupted her.
Diana looked surprised. âOf course not. After all, there are so many types of monsters and demon beasts out there.â
Lilith breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed like she was thinking too much.
âOh well, I already said that you donât have to worry about being different from the others. The reason why the Holy Dragon Empire is so powerful largely stems from their tolerance and understanding toward foreign races. Apart from demons; monsters, elves, and beastmen could safely reveal their identities in this empire without worries of being subjected to inhumane treatment. This was an absolute law that had been passed down in the early days of the founding of this nation. For this reason, many examples of monsters and demonic beasts making great contributions to the empire in history and great tales were born.â
âI see. Iâm relieved to hear that.â
âWell then, Iâll continue. Your race is your privacy, the academy will not question and I wonât further investigate this matter either. Since Elder Mord, who has always been known to be fair and strict, would use his authority to recommend you, Iâm sure itâs all because he highly regards your capability.â
Nope, I actually bought the vice president title with money.
âI have already witnessed your strength, Lilith. And you must have made great efforts to transform yourself.â
Nope, this is an innate talent. Iâm born in human form.
âI definitely have no objection to you being the vice president, butâ¦â
Diana paused for a moment before she continued speaking, âIâm not sure how many people have been coveting this position. Now that someone is cutting their queue, Iâm sure it will stir up a lot of dissatisfaction, soâ¦â
âSo I have to convince the crowd first?â
âAs expected of you, Lilith. The reason why I sent the others away when I knew youâre coming was for the sake of avoiding unnecessary disputes that might arise. But since you want to take up the vice president role, itâs inevitable that you will have to meet them. You canât possibly escape from this kind of thing.â
For some reason, Lilith couldnât help but think that she had gotten herself into something really troublesome.
âJust tell me what I need to do.â
Diana took out a document and passed it to Lilith.
âTo be honest, I think you are the best person to handle this.â
