Book 4: Chapter 27: Demons
âWho are you?â
Thea quickly distanced herself from the alluring woman in front of her and put her guard up.
âWhere did you take Lilith and Brea to?â
The alluring woman was taken aback for a moment, she seemingly didnât expect Thea would be able to so effortlessly slide away from her and put a distance between them. Nevertheless, she quickly recovered and wore a bewitching smile on her face.
âI didnât expect you to be more than what meets the eye, little girl. Seems like you are somewhat different from those delicate flowers raised in the greenhouse.â
The alluring woman waved her hand and a pale purple haze rolled in.
âHowever, I have no interest in introducing myself to my food.â
Theaâs pupils shrank when the alluring woman disappeared from her sight. Not only did she vanish, but Thea also couldnât even sense her presence. It was like she never existed.
Is it because of this purple haze? Even so, relying on things like that to hide her presence is futile.
With a wave of her hand, the parting gift bestowed upon her by the Pope appeared in it â a golden staff named Goddessâ Brilliance.
She slightly pointed the staff forward and the light elements that gathered around it instantly transformed into magic without any incantation.
Based on Theaâs compatibility with light elements, probably only spells like the Goddess Descent Skill would require a short incantation from her.
Rain of Holy Light!
Countless arrows of light fell from the sky within a radius of one hundred meters from Thea.
The fake and lifeless trees around her gradually corroded in the rain of holy light, revealing their true form like distorted human faces among piles of corpses.
The ground beneath her was scorched like solidified lava. In short, this place looked nothing like the academy.
âAmazing, little girl. Big sister is very impressed to find that you can cast instant spells.â
The alluring womanâs voice appeared in her ear. However, it sounded both very near and far away from her. Thea couldnât pinpoint her position at all.
âUnfortunately, this level of spell wonât be enough to even break my defense.â
Thea let out a soft sigh.
It seemed like her opponent wasnât too far from her. It was just that the strength of her spell wasnât enough to cause any damage to her.
If that was the caseâ¦
âURGHâ¦!â
Thea was just about to unleash a powerful spell on the alluring woman when she felt a sudden sharp pain in her chest. She felt as though every ounce of her strength was drained. Her legs gave way and she was brought to her knees on the ground.
âOh my. Whatâs wrong, little girl?â
The woman reappeared in Theaâs sight, wearing a concerned expression on her face.
Of course, it was all an act.
Or more like, this was her twisted way of playing with her prey.
That expression didnât stay too long before it reverted to that twisted smile that made Thea feel sick.
âYou got poisoned? Oh my, I nearly forgot that my haze is poisonous. My apologies, I forgot to warn you about that, little girl.â
âYouâ¦!â
She was too careless.
She was so distracted by the fact that the woman could perfectly conceal her presence that she failed to consider the possibility of the haze being poisonous.
Guess she was still tooâ¦
Naive.
Theaâs consciousness grew blurry. The womanâs alluring face gradually grew blurry too. She didnât even have the strength to raise her staff. The woman approached Thea and brought the violet dagger in her hand close to Theaâs lovely, defenseless face.
âNow, where should I start digging in?â
â¦â¦â¦
âWhere is this?â
As soon as Lilith shook off the extreme dizziness that assaulted her, she found herself in a totally unfamiliar place.
The scenery around her looked like hell.
Flowing magma⦠Contorted corpses⦠Dark sky⦠And those birds of unknown species gathering above her head.
âDid I transmigrate again?â
After thinking for a long time, this was the only most plausible conclusion that Lilith could draw.
âIdiot! This is all an illusion! Youâve all been dragged into another dimension!â
Saeâs voice suddenly rang out in her mind.
Lilith creased a frown and shot back, âDuh, I know! I was only making a few hypotheses to prepare myself for this situation.â
ââ¦â¦â
âAlright, since we already know that this is some sort of dimension⦠what should we do next?â
âLady Lilith, I thought you know everything?â
âHow can you say that, Sae? The saying of knowing everything is a paradox in itself. As smart as I am, there are also many things that I donât know.â
ââ¦â¦â
Whatever. As long as youâre happyâ¦
âWell if itâs another dimension, then there are usually two ways to break out of it.â
âHow?â
âOne is forcibly breaking out of it by strength. Second is to defeat the person who set this barrier up.â
âLooks like we can only defeat the person who set this up.â
ââ¦Right. But youâll have to do this on your own, Lady Lilith. I canât fight without a perfect body.â
âGot it.â
Lilith looked at a young man who suddenly appeared in front of her, her gaze grew solemn.
âYouâre⦠from our class, right?â
Although Lilith only took a brief glance at her classmates before, she pretty much remembered their faces and this guy in black standing before her was undoubtedly one of them.
A guy in black grinned. âIt is truly an honor to be remembered by Vice President Lilith, the freshman who became the talk of the academy as soon as she joined.â
âLikewise. Iâm honored to be targeted by someone who could effortlessly set up this kind of barrier in a place like the St. Caroline Academy.â
The guy shook his head. âOf course Vice President Lilith isnât our target, butâ¦â
He turned slightly to the side and continued on with a slightly aggrieved tone in his voice, âUnfortunately, we got discovered.â
Unbeknownst to her, a cross had appeared behind him. A young girl was tied to it and her clothes were tattered.
She looked beaten up and seemed to have gone through a lot.
Even if that was the case, the girl couldnât help but cry tears of joy when she saw Lilith.
âLilith, youâre finally here to save me!â she wailed.
Lilith was stunned for a few seconds when she saw the girl. âYouâre Carol, right?â She asked with a hint of uncertainty in her voice.
The girl nodded hurriedly with tears in her eyes, confirming that she was indeed the Carol that Lilith was referring to.
âOh. Iâll be leaving now then.â
Lilith turned around to leave.
âWAAAAAHHH, ARENâT WE GOOD FRIENDS? HOW COULD YOU LEAVE JUST LIKE THAT?!â
âI donât want to get involved with troubles.â
âWhat troubles? Iâm just a teenage girl, what trouble could I possibly bring?â
âLook whoâs talking! How do you explain the situation youâre in?â
âI didnât know things would turn out this way either! I only made it to the academy this morning because of the coming-of-age ceremony. After attending the opening ceremony, I got lost in this damned place. When I finally caught a glimpse of someone and wanted to ask for directions, he turned out to be a demon who was trying to infiltrate this academy.
âNot only that, it turned out that he was meeting up with the spy in this academy. Itâs not like I wanted that to happen! Then I got beaten up and tied up. Who did I offend to deserve this?!â
The guy in black had a conflicted expression on his face. âI should be the one saying that for being discovered out of the blue after only a few days of making it into this academy.â
ââ¦â¦..â
