Book 4: Chapter 106: Ordinary Food
âEEK, YOU MONSTER!â
SLAP!
The slap echoed throughout the silent room.
Lesiah crossed her arms on her chest protectively and backed up, glaring daggers at the stunned blonde with her tearful eyes.
âYou actually TRIED to do something like that again while I was unconscious!â
âNo! I didnât! Donât accuse me like thatâ¦!â
Lilith denied three times first, then clutched her cheek that didnât even sting from the slap while glaring at Sae who was impishly rejoicing at the side.
âHow dare you trick me! You better be ready to get your soul stuffed into the body of an eighty-year-old grandma, Sae!â The blonde shook her fist at the artifact spirit.
âWhat?! Wait! That was just a prank! You canât do that, Lady Lilith!â
âGive up. Iâll make sure that new body of yours wonât come with even a tooth. Watch me feast on amazing food every meal while you can only live tragically on porridge!â
âNoooo!â Sae could immediately picture Lady Lilith feasting in front of her, deliberately waving a delicious chicken drumstick in front of her eyes from time to time. Then sheâd feign concern and ask, âDo you want some? Donât resist your cravingsâ, even while knowing Sae could barely even hold the bowl she was eating porridge from!
The thought got Sae turning pale while begging for mercy.
âI havenât eaten a real meal for more than ten million years! All I wish for is a healthy body that I can feast with! Please spare me, Lady Lilith!â
âHmph! No! Besides, youâve already eaten when you were in that Ruth or whoeverâs body it was! Donât even lie!â
The artifact spirit immediately latched herself onto Lilithâs thigh. âMercy! Besides, I wasnât the one who hit you, Lady Lilith! Do you have to be this cruel to me!?â
âHmph! This discussion is over!â
âUghâ¦â
Itâs all your fault, you little btchâ¦! You better wait until Iâ¦*
Sae secretly glared at Lesiah, but head chopped by Lilith.
âDo not blame someone else!â
âOuchâ¦!â
Although Sae was in her spirit form, she had to take the initiative to accept Lilithâs not-so-light head chop. If she failed to appease her now, Lilith might really find a fresh corpse of an eighty-year-old grandma for her to use.
Her past experience in dealing with Lilith had convinced her that the latter was really capable of such nasty acts. And not only that, she would do it delightfully!
Looking at how Lilith apologetically explained herself to Lesiah, frustration started festering inside Sae.
Although it wasnât like Lady Lilith and herself were mutually dependent on each other to survive, they actually spent a long time together. So how could this little girl come out of nowhere and threaten her position?
So love would always be valued more than friendship?
â¦â¦
âDid you really do that to save me?â
âOf course!â
âYou really didnât do that to take advantage of me?â
âOf course, do I look like someone who would assault innocent girls at night?â Lilith hammered her flat chest.
The princess shot her a weird look, but lowered her guard in the end.
âFine. Iâll believe you one more time. Ughâ¦â
As soon as she relaxed, a wave of weakness hit her. Color drained from her face and her extremities turned cold.
Sure enough, the dehydration and excessive blood loss put Lesiahâs body on the verge of collapse.
âAre you alright?â
âIâm fineâ¦â
The princess pushed away the hand that Lilith offered to her and struggled to sit up by herself. âIâll be fine after resting for a bit.â
âEat something then. I have all these precious ingredients that are very nutritious. If you donât believe me, try it.â
Looking at Lilith piling up heaps of various meat in front of her like tributes, Lesiah burst out laughing.
âI am the princess of a country. Thereâs nothing Iâve never eaten before⦠Umfffâ¦!â
As soon as Lesiah tore off a small piece of meat and put it in her mouth, she instantly felt as though there was a piece of coal burning in her mouth!
Furthermore, the piece of meat instantly melted in her mouth. Before Lesiah could even react, she felt something akin to lava flowing directly into her stomach.
The princess instantly clutched her stomach and curled up. Her body couldnât stop shaking. After swallowing the piece of meat, she felt like there was a ball of fire burning the meridians in her entire body.
âWhatâs wrong, Lesiahâ¦?!â Lilith asked in concern when she saw the princess in pain. She thought it had something to do with her overfeeding on Lesiahâs blood earlier.
âThe meatâ¦â
âMeat? Was it rotten?â
âWhat⦠meat is that?â
âWhat meat? Just the meat of a normal primal beast.â Lilith scratched her head, confused by Lesiahâs question.
Normal⦠primal⦠beast?
Lesiah almost wondered if she was hallucinating from losing too much blood.
Primal beasts were legendary creatures which could only be found in the Sea of Origin. It was even rumored one of the ancient primal beasts had attained the demigod realm, the realm which no human had ever attained. It was definitely one of the most dangerous creatures in this world.
And someone actually eat them for food?
It was a feat that Lesiah didnât even dare to think about, let alone tasting it.
Lilith continued speaking. âThis is the finest meat I brought from home. Even for me, this is considered a luxury since the people back home would only make a trip to the Sea of Origin every few days and bring some back. If it wasnât for the sake of replenishing stamina quickly, I couldnât even bring myself to eat it. Hmâ¦? Now that I think about it, itâs probably past expiry. I wonder if it has really gone bad. But then again, I thought time was frozen in the storage ring.â
âIt didnât go bad. Sheâs just overwhelmed by the overpowering energy in the meat. Sheâll be fine after a while.â
Sae rested her chin in her hand and pouted. âI told you my method is for her own good. Yet, she complained about being taken advantage of. Now you can suffer all you want, hmph.â
âShut up.â
ââ¦..â
The corner of Saeâs mouth twitched as her tears threatened to fall.
How can my master be this cruel to me? If she keeps this up, Iâm going to switch sides and be a turncoat!
Lilith was oblivious to Saeâs dissatisfaction. Or more like even if she did notice, she wouldnât care.
In any case, there must be a reason why the ancestor had sent Sae to her. It must be something along the lines of becoming her servant.
So there shouldnât be a problem for her to utilize her however she wanted.
And what pissed Lilith off the most was Saeâs attitude of knowing something but still keeping her in the dark.
It was really infuriating.
Lilith took out some ordinary food this time. âYou can eat this first.â
âAlright.â
After the burning sensation faded, Lesiah sat up again and ate the food that Lilith offered to her. This so-called âordinary foodâ was probably something that an average family couldnât even afford with their one year worth of living expenses.
Although eating the flesh of a primal beast made Lesiah feel extremely unwell, it was undoubtedly effective. She could clearly feel her physical condition gradually improving.
At least, her skin started looking rosy again.
âLilith, youâre a dragon rightâ¦?â
Lesiah suddenly asked while munching on her food.
âHmm? â¦Huh?ân/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Lilith couldnât react to the sudden question.
âWhat do you meanâ¦?â
âAre you still trying to hide it? I already know that youâre a dragonâ¦â
ââ¦â¦â
