From Mareba to Novelius is about twice as far as to Solkalis. Traveling normally would take us nearly a month.
However, I had placed a teleportation magic circle in Solkalis, so we can cover half of that distance almost instantly!
I had only just learned it back then, making it practically at the experimental level, so Iâm actually a bit uneasy about it thoughâ¦
âWell, Iâve got a return circle ready right here, so if I return right away, then itâs a success. If I come back in an hour, then that means itâs a failure.â
âBeing âImmortalâ sure is convenient.â
âDo you want to die multiple times?â
âI retract my previous statement.â
If someone without âAdaptabilityâ died two, maybe three times, they would probably go insane.
But seriously, weâre leaving as soon as we got backâ¦? Looks like the orc fluid research is going to be left for later.
I stashed the bottled stuff away in a sealed storehouse in the basement.
Itâs hard to think anyone would steal something like this, but just in case.
âWeâre going to be away for a long five years this time, so I think we should bring plenty of traveling money with us. Iâll also need to come back once a month to sell rings at Gustaâs place, so I can bring Marle along when I do. You can give your parents some peace of mind that way.â
âOkay!â
âAlecâs probably gonna have to turn in reports and stuff too, so I guess weâll all end up back here once a month?â
âCould it be Iâm the only one who doesnât need to come back here?â
He very distinctly averted his gaze in response to my question.
I-Iâm totally not lonely!
âItâs fine. A person can live all on her ownâ¦â
While on the verge of tears, I activated the magic circle.
Upon being enveloped by the dazzling activation light, I was in a forest on the outskirts of Solkalis. It would seem the magic spell was a success.
I make sure the surroundings are safe, and reaffirm the spellâs formation.
It was made shortly after I learned it, so there are a few messy bits, but no particularly outstanding problems it would seem.
If I had to point something out, then there are quite a few unnecessary lines that make it bigger than needed, I suppose.
âRighy-o, letâs go ahead and get that return circle ready thenâ¦â
I pack in the ground immediately next to it with [Earth Wall], and strengthen it with [Toughness] before burning the spell formation into it.
Once itâs done, I again activate the spell and return to the cottage at Mareba.
âThere were no problems with the spell. It looks like we can use it as a shortcut to Solkalis.â
âWhew, thank goodness.â
âNo kidding. The trip is now two weeks shorter.â
âThatâs not what heâs saying, sis. Master is saying âthank goodnessâ because you came back okay.â
âHuh? Oh, right. Umm⦠Thanks. Thank you very much.â
It felt pretty nice once I realized that he was worried about me again.
My mood got a little better from that.
âHmmhmmhmhm~m?â
âYuuri sure is in a noticeably good mood.ân/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
âSis is pretty simple on a basic level, after all.â
âFeh! Yaâll normies can just go explode!â
âYou guys! Stop muttering to each other and get ready to go! Weâre going to head out soon, okay?â
And your chastisement will come later, miss Levy. I have very good hearing.
~*~
Having [Teleported] to the forest on the outskirts of Solkalis, we camouflaged the magic circle with leaves and branches, hiding it so random strangers couldnât use it.
Miss Levy was useful for this. The âTrap Disablingâ gift, if thought of in reverse, means being able to set up traps too.
Forget amateurs, not even pros would be able to see through the camouflage she set up.
But even if someone were to find it, [Teleport] takes a fair bit of magic power to use, so only a fairly proficient magician would be able to activate it.
âWe didnât go by way of Rahon, but I wonder if thatâs okay?â
âActually, isnât it rather convenient since weâre hiding that weâve entered the country? Itâs as good as saying weâre still back in Mareba.â
âCome to think of it, we were going to register with fake names. But wouldnât that be a problem for Marle in entering the academy?â
âI guess so, huhâ¦? Perhaps we should let just her enter the country with her real name.â
âIn that case, Iâll take her along for the border inspection. If you or Alec were to do it, then it would cause a fuss, right?â
Iâm carrying the border inspection certificate that I got last time, but as long as I donât use it, I can enter as a normal citizen.
Well, Haster looks a whole lot different than he did before, so I donât think anyone would notice if he did the same though.
âYou wouldnât be any better-⦠Oh, you donât plan on using your certificate from last time, do you?â
âAs long as sheâs got your introduction letter, Haster, I think theyâll let us in just fine, right?â
âWell sure, but⦠Iâm worried. Levy, could you go along with them? I would think nothing will happen if theyâve got a mid-rank adventurer along with them.â
âYeppers. Couple âa kids travelinâ alone might be a smidge suspicious, after all.â
âI am an adult already, you know?â
I realize that I donât look it, but I wouldnât be satisfied if that wasnât put out there.
Will I ever be able to travel without a guardian around?
âIn that case maybe Iâll have to write an introduction letter for Yuuri tooâ¦? Heck, maybe we should enroll Yuuri in the academy too?â
âWhy in the hell would I have to go to an academy after all this time?!â
âTo treat your communication problemsâ¦â
âIâm just fine. I can keep on going as long as youâre with me.â
âI-is that so? I see⦠Well thatâs fine then.â
âUh, no, thatâs not fine. Master, donât let her throw you off like that.â
Alec just had to open his big mouth.
And here I was planning to just spend my whole life flirting around with himâ¦!
âBut Alec, this is Yuuri weâre talking about, see? She might get really popular and find a boyfriend if she enrolls in school.â
âMaster, you know thatâs the kind of thing a father worries about, not a husband, right?â
â⦠But come on, itâs Yuuri. If her glasses were to accidentally fall off, all sorts of problems could happen, right?â
If I were to remove my [Sealing Magic Mirror] in a school, a small-scale âtragedy of Lilithâ could be reproduced.
But really, unlike back then, I have some means of self-defense now.
âRather, I suppose it should be changed to something other than glasses, huhâ¦?â
I agree that it should be changed from something as easy to remove as glasses, butâ¦
Haster, why are you directing your gaze at my collar I wonder?
Iâm feeling something disturbing right now, so I think it would be a good idea to get out of here.
âWell, this is all after we officially enter the country. Come on, write that introduction letter, please. Weâll have to bring miss Levy to Rahon and go through the border crossing process, after all.â
âR-right.â
~*~
Haster wrote the introduction letter for me, and I entered Novelius as Marleâs âlittleâ sister when crossing the border.
Itâs because Iâm the shorter one of us, but⦠I still donât like it!
When we teleported back to Solkalis from Rahon, we sawâ
âWouldnât a collar be fine?â
âYouâve made shackles with âgift sealing,â havenât you?â
âBut those would be hidden if she just put boots on. I want to [Enchant] something that will clearly display my claim on her. Maybe it would be better to use a swimsuit and seal her whole body?â
âWhy not like, handcuffs, or a rope? Like in S&M.â
âAlec, I think youâve got some rather unique tastes. Marleâs gonna have it rough.â
âIâm not as bad as you, Master! Besides, I wouldnât ask her to do something like-⦠Er, wellâ¦â
âSo you canât deny it.â
âAhem, then why not just make it all?â
âThatâs it!â
âThat better NOT be it!â
Alec and Haster were in the middle of some kind of stupid conversation.
Boys really talk about the stupidest things when theyâre all alone!
Well, if my gender hadnât changed, Iâm sure I would have joined in though.
At this rate Iâm going to be wearing a school swimsuit, handcuffs, shackles, a collar, and a robe binding underneath my clothes. That will be my life.
âWelcome back. Itâs not like you would have to wear clothes over it all, you know?â
âIâll catch cold that way though?!â
âNo you wouldnât. Since you have âAdaptabilityâ and all.â
âGh, urrrghhâ¦â
âWell, just joking anyway.â
Sure, I really donât have to worry about getting sick thanks to that gift!
Maybe I should offer a compromise while the damage is still light?
âWell, I wouldnât mind compromising with just a collar.â
âReally? Then I guess Iâll design it that way.â
You said that so casually, but youâre grinning from ear to ear, Haster.
âYaâll got it rough too, huh Yuuri?â
âSo you finally understand? Once he gets enthusiastic about something, it just escalates from there.â
âThat kinda enthusiasm ainât somethinâ I need in my life.â
âSir Alec, mister Haster, youâre both dirty.â
By the way, why did you both get a shock from Marleâs simple words, rather than our whole conversation?
Actually, you should have expected that. This is hardly the kind of conversation you have in front of a 10 year old, is it?!
âGood grief, children could be traumatized by this. Both of you think about what youâve done!â
âWhoops.â
âS-sorry!â
âBut sir Alec, when it is just the two of us, I will do my best!â
âHey, wait, what?!â
I hadnât seen her for a little while, so I completely forgot, but she has a bunch of superficial knowledge on that subject!
We will need to show her a âproper adult relationshipâ to keep her on the straight and narrow as sheâs growing up.
And Haster, youâre influencing Alec too much.
At this rate you two are going to be a depraved sage and depraved swordsman pair, you know?
âAnyway! Weâll procure a carriage and necessities in Solkalis, and then weâll head out. We still have two weeks of travel ahead of us!â
âYeah, actually Iâve already prepared a carriage. We can leave whenever.â
âOoh, just what I should expect. So you really werenât just sitting here chatting the whole time.â
And it only took us a little over an hour to get through the border inspection. He sure works fast.
While I looked at him respectfully, he seemingly uncomfortably hid a small bag behind his back.
I heard a familiar clanging metal sound⦠Is that silver?
Thatâs when it suddenly came to me. Thereâs a certain magic tool made from carved silverâ¦
âSeriously, Haster, youâre such aâ¦â
âLook, we donât know when weâll be able to get more of these after this. And besides, itâs normally a necessity for adventuring.â
Itâs true, the âRing of Mental Resistanceâ is a necessity for adventurers.
Lately Iâve only been looking at them for something other than their intended use, so I guess Iâm just jumping at shadows now?
âOh, got it. My apologies. Weâve been using them for other things so much lately, so I ended up misunderstanding.â
âEh, no need to apologize. Of course I plan on using them for that too.â
â⦠⦠â¦â
A-anyway⦠We once again began journeying like this.
Sigh, is there any way to rehabilitate a depraved sage out there?

Authorâs Note: The ones who got the [Teleport] trap in the 2nd act ready were Baram (magician), and Mac (healer).
An average magic user would probably have trouble activating it alone.
