August 31st....... (*the big day*)
"Let's go home, baby. We will sort out whatever is bothering you" Hoseok said after trying hard to get his boyfriend to sleep the whole night. It didn't work, though. Jungkook didn't sleep the whole night.
Jungkook simply whimpered at what his boyfriend suggested. "Okay, I will get you a coat. It's raining" Hoseok said, getting off the bed and going into the washroom. "You also freshen up. Let's go" he shouted from the bathroom.
"They aren't home. Did they go somewhere?" Hoseok asked as he parked his bike outside Jungkook's house.
"Huh? I don't know" Jungkook said, standing outside the house, dazed. "Let's see" Hoseok said and took him inside. "Maybe they didn't wake up yet" Hoseok said as Jungkook walked into his parent's bedroom.
There was no one in it.
He was about to look into another room when he heard an ear-splitting scream from his boyfriend. He ran towards the living room as scream after scream followed. "HOBI!!!" he yelled as he rushed into the guest room.
Jungkook froze.
He couldn't process what he saw. He immediately blocked his mind from thinking further about the scene in front of him. He ran back to his room and locked his door. He was close to an attack, but stopped it in time and threw his inhaler into the laundry without thinking about it.
He soon heard bangs on the door. "JUNGKOOK OPEN THE DOOR, WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING?? PLEASE OPEN THE DOOR, I AM SCARED!!" Hoseok yelled.
Jungkook opened the door and was immediately engulfed in a bear hug.
"What's happening, Kookie? Did you already know about this?" Hoseok asked. Jungkook started shaking in his hold.
"No, hyung. She cheated on my dad. I didn't think she would kill herself" he started sobbing into Hoseok's neck once again. Hoseok was crying as well.
"Let's get her down. We have work to do, Kookie. Call your dad" Hoseok said, taking the younger into the guest room.
"My dad's phone is switched off. He must have gone somewhere to cool off. Oh god, what do I do? What do I do? Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no" Jungkook started panicking.
"Shhhh, relax. Breathe for me. We will get through this, baby. Don't worry. Let's do everything until he comes back. He doesn't even know about this yet" Hoseok said, looking into Jungkook's eyes and trying to get him to relax.
"What if he spends the whole day in a bar? I wouldn't put it past him, hyung. That's what he did when Grandma died. He spent two whole days in some random bar......drinking, sleeping, waking up and drinking, and sleeping again......I am scared hyung......What if it's too late?" Jungkook asked, tears still rolling down his face.
"Kook, you know that he goes to random bars. We can't even search for him. We just have to wait for him to come back on his own. Until then, let's arrange for everything. You have to stay strong, Kookie" Hoseok said.
They called the ambulance. The paramedics declared her dead and left.
They made the calls and other arrangements for the funeral, which was going to be held the next day as they hoped Mr. Jeon would return by then.
Seokjin and his family came to Jungkook's house to provide support for him. Hoseok called Yoongi, who lived in Busan. Yoongi came to Jungkook's house with Jimin after realizing what situation Jungkook was in.
He was still too young to handle all of this by himself, even though he had people around him. Hoseok decided to call Namjoon in the evening as he knew Namjoon was out on a date.
Jungkook's tears didn't stop the whole time. He clung on to Seokjin the moment he walked in.
Seokjin and Jungkook had been close since their childhood.
It was around six in the evening when Jungkook received a call from an unknown number. He didn't answer it, thinking it was another 'condolences' call.
He had been arranging chairs for the funeral when he first got that call. The call just kept repeating again and again. "Damn it" he muttered as he took it out, but gasped when he saw the caller ID.
"DAD! WHERE ARE YOU? COME HOME FAST, PLEASE. SOMETHING HAPPENED, PLEASE COME HOME FAST" Jungkook yelled as tears started running down his face again. There was silence on the other side.
"Dad?" Jungkook called out timidly. He heard a heavy sigh on the other side before an unknown person spoke up.
"I am very sorry to tell you this, sir, but you seemed to have called this person a lot of times. I am calling from ******* hospital. I am guessing you are related to Mr. Jeon?" the man asked.
"He is my dad! What the hell is wrong with him? Why are you calling from his phone? Why is he in the hospital? Give him the phone, I want to talk to him" Jungkook started hyperventilating.
Jimin ran to him when he saw his breath speed up and sat him on one of the chairs. "It's okay, breathe!" he whispered.
Jungkook heard another heavy sigh before the man continued.
"I am very sorry to inform this to you, but a 'Mr. Jeon' got into an accident and there were multiple missed calls on his phone from your number. He seems to have been drunk. I am a nurse who works in this hospital.
He lost his life on the spot. We request you to come and identify the body and take it home if you know him. Please come as fast as you can" the man said and hung up.
Jungkook shot out of his seat dazedly. He simply spaced out wordlessly as he stood.
Jimin tried a lot to get him to respond to him, but nothing worked. Jungkook couldn't hear a single word that the other was yelling.
Jimin sat him on the chair again before running off to get Hoseok and Yoongi. They rushed to the place where Jungkook stood, still staring at the chairs in front of him in a daze.
Hoseok stood right in front of Jungkook and stared into his eyes while slapping his cheeks slightly to snap him out of it.
"Jungkookie? Kookie....baby, come on.........snap out of it.......what's wrong?.....Kookie, come on, baby........JUNGKOOK!!" he yelled, finally snapping Jungkook out of it.
Instantly, tears welled up in his eyes as he looked back at his boyfriend.
"Shhhhh, it will be fine, baby. Everything will be fine" he consoled, embracing him in a tight hug.
Soon, Jungkook started shouting, clinging onto Hoseok's chest.
"Shh, shh, shh, it will be fine, Kookie! Mr. Jeon will come back and then you won't have to face this alone. I am there, Kookie, let's just wait for your dad" Hoseok said.
At that, Jungkook's legs gave out and he fell on his knees, pulling down Hoseok with him.
Hoseok pulled out of the hug and cupped his face. "What's wrong, honey?" he asked.
"H-He-he he is d-dead, h-hyung. H-he got into an acc-accident.....I-I don't know HOW IT HAPPENED BUT I JUST G-GOT A CALL FROM ******* HOSPITAL. THEY....THEY ARE CALLING ME TO IDENTIFY THE B-BODY.........WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?!?!?!" Jungkook screamed.
Hoseok froze, shock and horror written on his face. Soon, he was bawling his eyes out along with Jungkook while Yoongi and Jimin tried to console the two of them, all the while wiping their own tears.
Nobody could 'not cry' looking at the situation in front of them.
"Hoseok hyung, go to the hospital and bring the body home. Let's deal with it later" Jimin said, wrapping his arms around Hoseok and bringing him into a side hug. Yoongi lifted Jungkook and held him tight as he wasn't steady on his feet yet.
Hoseok stared at the ground before taking Jungkook out of the house silently. Jimin came running to hand them their coats as it was still raining.
They went to the hospital on Hoseok's bike as none of them owned a car. Jungkook cried the whole way there, and so did Hoseok.
"We are pretty sure he was drunk. As it was raining, he might to have lost control of his vehicle. The other driver died as well. That's the other driver" the nurse said, pointing to another body that was present in the room.
Jungkook stood next to his father's body, which was deformed horribly. But he could identify it. "You can take him home. We still have to contact someone for the other person. The person we are trying to reach was not reachable when we tried a few minutes ago" the nurse said.
Hoseok felt overwhelmed. He wanted to hear a familiar voice. He knew he couldn't call Yoongi as he was busy.
So he called Namjoon. He told him about the accident and the death and that he expected him to be at the funeral the next day. He cried for a while on the phone before hanging up and walking back to Jungkook.
"We will be providing an ambulance for you to take the body home" the nurse continued.
"Jungkookie, you go in the ambulance with the body, I will come on my bike" Hoseok said. He turned to the nurse and gave him a nod, gesturing him to arrange for the ambulance.
"Please wait here" the nurse said and returned after fifteen minutes. "The ambulance is ready" he said. A few people walked in and put the body in a coffin before taking it back to the ambulance.
Jungkook followed them silently and got into the ambulance with the body, while tears still kept rolling down his face.
"You go, baby. I will be right behind you" Hoseok said to Jungkook. The ambulance left when he suddenly realized that he left his wallet in the morgue after paying for the coffin. He went back to the morgue.
He picked up his wallet and walked towards the other body. The nurse came in and waited for him at the door.
"I am sorry this happened to you" Hoseok said to the other body and lifted the cover.
He gasped and fell back on the floor after seeing the body. Tears welled up in his eyes as he processed what he just saw and started yelling.
"Why? why? why? wHY? WHY? WHY? WHYYYYY?"Â he screamed. "MR. KIM!!!!" he screamed, identifying his best friend's father. "AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH" he yelled as the nurse escorted him out of the room.
"Do you know him?" he asked. "I am in no condition to call his son now. Please do it yourself. My boyfriend needs me. I will leave now" he said and ran out of the hospital.
He sobbed as he got onto his bike and drove back to Jungkook's house. He cried all the way back.
He kept thinking of how many people he had lost within twelve hours. He kept thinking of the burden and responsibilities his best friend was going to face alone.
Namjoon's two best friends were present here. There was no one there to help him. He felt very guilty.
It was still raining. At one point, his tears were running soo badly, that he couldn't see the road anymore. It became too blurry.
He was near the shops where there were benches on the corners of footpaths. He tried rubbing his eyes when the bike skidded.
He screamed as he lost balance and his head hit one of the cement benches with extreme force and knocked him out immediately.
