Gu Mengmeng didnât know how to answer and just listened quietly.
Lea put his hand lightly on the back of her head and sealed her lips with a gentle kiss.
That slanted pair of eyes stared with deep affection at Gu Mengmeng. âBut the jealousy you cause makes me feel very blessed.â
Thump~thump~
Gu Mengmengâs heart beat rapidly. They had already spent nearly a year together but Leaâs intimacy and affectionate words still made her feel quite faint.
Lea kissed Gu Mengmeng lightly on the lips and held her against his chest. âThat is why when I felt animosity arising from jealousy towards Elvis, I realized I might have been drugged. Thereafter, I discovered that every time Burke appeared before me, jealousy in my heart would be inflamed beyond control. That was when I was sure that Cole had planted the bug poison on me.â
âWhy didnât you tell meâ Gu Mengmengâs heart ached. A person who was ill was most in need of the companionship of his family. But she didnât do anything when he was sick, and just fell into Coleâs trap like an idiot. And all the while thinking she could capture Cole.
Lea rested his chin gently on the top of Gu Mengmengâs head. With a light laugh, he said, âSilly girl, do you think I will tell you this and let you worry over Cole? I am no fool, why would I allow another male to dominate your thoughts?â
Gu Mengmeng was speechless over Leaâs twisted logic. She tightened her arms from his waist and rubbed her little face on his chest. âSo you decided not to counter that bug poison?â
Lea laughed. âYou are half right.â
Gu Mengmeng looked up. âWhich half?â
Lea replied, âYou were right that I beat him at his own game. But I did neutralize that bug. I am not mad, why would I allow Cole to control my lifeline?â
Gu Mengmeng breathed a sigh of relief before smiling. âI guess you are smart.â
Lea lifted his chin and smiled smugly. âOf course. I am the male of the Messengers of the Beast Deity.â
Gu Mengmeng couldnât help smiling at Leaâs words. She suddenly recalled the sight of him standing at the Platform of the Deityâs Punishment and announcing to the whole world that he was her beast pet. She felt like her heart was bursting with warmth.
Lea continued. âCole instigated Burke to make use of Kanwu and gang to get close to you. His goal was never to seduce you but to trigger the bug in my body. To let my emotions quickly turn chaotic.â
âEh?â Gu Mengmeng was astounded. She thought she was the reason Cole had sent Burke to them. So Lea was the actual target?
Lea played with Mengmengâs hand and said, âFrom the moment he used the name âYoo Sijinâ when he arrived at Sauder, it was fated that I would hate him. Cole purposely left all sorts of obvious markings on him to let me take note of him. It was a type of subconscious hinting that he would eventually snatch you away. It was the most effective way to trigger the bug poison in me.â
Gu Mengmeng frowned. âSo right from the start when Burke joined Saint Nazaire, Cole had already planned to use the bug poison to kill you?â
Lea nodded. âNo, his goal was not to use the bug poison to kill me, but to have me... die by your hand.ân/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
