Olivia's P.O.V
It had been a few days since my father had asked me to live with him. I told him I needed some time to think about it. He said that he understood my hesitation, but would need an answer within the week, as he was preparing to formally move in to the house.
I hadn't told anyone yet about my father's offer, not even Mary. I didn't want to worry anyone if I ended up not going. So I kept about my work, thinking deeply about my father's offer.
After heavily weighing the pros and cons, I finally came to a decision. I exited my room in search of my father. I walked around for a bit until I found him relaxing in the living room.
"Hey dad!" I exclaimed upon seeing him.
"Hey pumpkin!" He called back with an equal amount of energy, "what's up?"
"About your offer to move away and live with you...," I trailed off for suspense and watched my father's curious face, "I want to do it. "
"That's great!" He exclaimed, jumping up to hug me.
I beamed at him as I hugged him back.
"I want a new start and this is the best opportunity to pursue it," I said.
After all that had happened in my life, from my mother dying to the love of my life rejecting me completely, I just wanted to forget it all and start again. And that's what I plan to do!
Jordan's P.O.V
I was walking to the dining room, seeing as I was summoned for lunch. As I walked past the living room, I heard a male's voice talking. I thought nothing of it and didn't even slow down until I heard the voice of an angel. My angel.
"About you offer to move away and live with you," I heard her say then pause.
I stopped breathing and froze, feeling as if a dagger were being pressed to my heart. She can't leave me! I love her! But then... I can't love her. My life is a confusing mess!
"I want to do it," I heard her say, and felt the final push as the blade went in, shattering my already battered heart.
I finally found love for once in my life and it's just being forcefully ripped from me! First my father, with his insufferable threats, then the fiance that I want to throw in the dungeon for how annoying she is, and now my love leaving me. Who knows where she is moving to and if I will ever see her again!
Olivia's P.O.V
"Why don't you go tell Mary your plans," my father suggested, still excited about me coming to live with him and spend time with him after so long.
I nodded in response with a small smile. I know I'll miss Jordan, but it's what's best for me. I need to get over him and stop crying over a man that will never want me.
I walked out of the living room in the direction of the kitchen, waving a quick goodbye to my father. On my way out, I ran into Jordan, who seemed to be deep in thought. He caught me by the waist as I was falling and stood me upright. He held me like that for a brief second before pulling away like I was fire. His face, for a moment, held an emotion that I could not identify, but then quickly morphed into scowl.
"Watch where you're going," he growled at me.
"Of course, your highness. My sincerest apologies," I told him, sadness hidden in my voice.
He walked away swiftly, seeming to be fed up with our brief interaction. I sighed and continued on my walk to the kitchen. When I arrived, I saw Mary washing dishes at the sink on the other side of the room.
"Mary!" I called to her from across the kitchen.
She immediately put down the dishes she was washing and turned around, curious to see who had called her name.
"Olivia," she smiled when she saw it was me, "Is something the matter?"
"Do you have a minute that we can talk?" I asked.
"As soon as I finish these," she said, gesturing towards the pile of dishes, "I'm all ears."
I walked over to her and grabbed a plate from the pile, helping her job to be done faster. Fifteen minutes later we were done.
"So, what's on your mind, sweetie?" She asked.
"Can we go somewhere else? Like the garden?" I offered.
She nodded and we walked out to the garden together. We slowly walked around for a few minutes in silence, just observing the flowers, neither wanting to break the peace.
"My father gave me a proposition..." I started, trailing off.
She looked towards me and nodded, showing that she was listening and ready for me to continue.
"He bought a house a couple of towns over because he is being stationed there for awhile, and he wants me to move with him in two months when he does so," I said.
She stared at me in shock, "What did you say?"
I took a deep breath before answering: "I said yes."
Her mouth dropped open and her eyes started to water.
"Oh Mary, please don't cry!" I exclaimed, embracing her.
"I'm fine! It's just, I raised you from a young girl and have seen you grow up. I'm happy to see you get a new start but that doesn't mean I will be any less sad to see you go. Just know that, above all, I want what's best for you and I love you so much," she cried into my shoulder.
"I love you too, Mary," I said back, my own tears streaming at the thought of leaving the woman that had become my second mother.
"What about Jordan though?" She asked, her tears stopping slowly.
I shook my head, "There is no use in trying to get a man that only sees me as a servant girl to love me. I might as well give up. That's why I'm looking forward to this fresh start, away from Jordan and all of the memories of him."
