Chapter 33: Epilogue : A New Leaf

Breaking Through The Sky [Skynani]Words: 6861

The Squad’s Return to HQ

Walking into the new squad room felt surreal.

The old one had been destroyed. The new one? Rebuilt, reinforced, and somehow… home.

Dunk stretched. “So, do we get paid extra for rebuilding HQ with our own blood and trauma?”

Santa snorted. “We should at least get a vacation.”

Perth smirked. “Good luck convincing Sakda.”

The moment Sky and Nani walked in together, Santa dramatically gasped.

“They arrived together. Again.”

Joong sighed. “We get it. They’re attached.”

Dunk grinned. “So… did they finally—”

Sky glared. “Don’t.”

Santa grinned wider. “You know, we never actually congratulated you both on—”

Sky grabbed a case file and threw it at him.

Santa dodged, laughing. “Hostile! Someone mark that in the report.”

Dunk smirked. “What report?”

Joong, flipping through a folder, deadpanned. “The one about Sky being emotionally constipated.”

Perth actually chuckled.

---

Thanawat stood at the front of the room, flipping the final page of the file. “It’s done.”

The words settled over them.

Jason was dead. Laurent was gone. The mole had been erased.

The mission that had nearly destroyed them was over.

Ohm sighed, rubbing his temples. “Thupa’s network is being dismantled, but there are still shadows.”

Thanawat nodded. “There always will be.”

Nani exhaled slowly. “At least we know where to look.”

Thanawat closed the folder. “You all did well.”

Santa grinned. “Does that mean we get a raise?”

Sakda—who had just walked in—snorted. “No.”

Dunk groaned. “That’s cold, Chief.”

Sakda smirked. “You already cost me enough headaches.”

Santa nudged Perth. “Hack his payroll.”

Perth didn’t even look up. “No.”

-----

The Hardest Decision

The room was too quiet.

Everyone knew this moment was coming.

But knowing didn’t make it any easier.

Sakda exhaled, looking at Nani with the kind of expression that meant he didn’t enjoy saying this, but he had no choice.

“You know the rules.” His voice was calm but absolute.

Sky’s shoulders tensed immediately. “Sakda—”

“No exceptions.”

Sky clenched his jaw, but Nani already understood.

Dating within the same unit wasn’t allowed.

Sky’s voice was sharp. “That’s outdated bullshit.”

Sakda didn’t even flinch. “It’s protocol.”

Silence stretched across the room.

Santa, whispering to Dunk, “Did we just get them together only to immediately break them up?”

Dunk whispered back. “This is why we should’ve gotten the raise first.”

Thanawat sighed, rubbing his temples.

“As much as I hate to agree with Sakda… he’s right.”

Sky’s glare turned toward Thanawat. “You’re really backing him up right now?”

Thanawat sighed. “Don’t look at me like that. I’m not happy about it either.”

Sakda, ignoring the squad’s reactions, continued. “Nani has two choices.”

Sky’s entire body went rigid.

Santa smirked. “Let me guess—Dew or Ohm?”

Sakda nodded. “He transfers to either Dew’s squad or Ohm’s unit.”

Sky immediately snapped, “Not Dew’s squad.”

Dew, arms crossed, raised an eyebrow. “Why the hell not?”

Sky shot him a glare. “Because I don’t trust you.”

Dew rolled his eyes. “Seriously?”

“Oh, I’m dead serious.”

Santa snickered. “He sounds like a jealous boyfriend.”

Joong hummed. “He is a jealous boyfriend.”

Sky ignored them.

Dew smirked. “Relax, Captain. I have standards. If Nani transfers to me, I’ll treat him like family.”

“That’s what I’m afraid of.”

Sakda sighed loudly. “Sky, this isn’t your choice.”

Sky’s fists clenched. “You’re really forcing this?”

Sakda met his gaze. “Would you follow the rules for anyone else?”

Sky didn’t answer.

Because they both knew the truth.

If it were anyone but Nani, Sky wouldn’t even be arguing.

Sakda turned to Nani. “It’s your call.”

Everyone looked at Nani.

Nani exhaled slowly.

Then—he looked at Ohm.

Ohm groaned. “I knew it.”

Sky immediately stiffened. “Wait—”

Nani turned to Sakda. “I’ll transfer to Ohm’s unit.”

Sky’s expression darkened. “Nani—”

Nani offered a small smile. “It makes sense.”

Sky’s voice was firm. “You don’t have to do this.”

Nani held his gaze. “I know.”

Sky inhaled sharply. “Then why?”

Nani’s voice softened. “Because it’s the right choice.”

A beat of silence.

Then—Dunk, grinning. “You know Sky’s still gonna monitor Narcotics like a crazy boyfriend, right?”

Santa cackled. “Oh, absolutely.”

Joong smirked. “Ohm, you’re gonna regret this.”

Ohm sighed dramatically. “I already do.”

Sky groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. “This is hell.”

Santa, nudging Perth. “Think we should make bets on how long Sky lasts before sneaking into Narcotics?”

Perth actually smirked. “A week.”

Dunk grinned. “Three days.”

Joong shook his head. “A day. Tops.”

Nani—laughing softly.

Sky, grumbling.

And just like that—the tension eased.

This wasn’t the ending Sky wanted.

But it was the one they could live with.

And as Sky looked at Nani—smiling, alive, safe—he decided…

As long as Nani was still beside him, he could live with it.

---

A New Beginning

The sun hung low in the sky as Sky and Nani walked together.

Sky, after a long silence, finally asked, “Are you sure?”

Nani hummed. “About what?”

Sky glanced at him. “All of this.”

Nani met his gaze.

Then, without hesitation—

He laced their fingers together.

Sky froze.

Then—his fingers tightened around Nani’s.

Nani smiled. “Completely sure.”

Sky exhaled, letting a rare, small smile tug at his lips.

“…Okay.”

The city lights flickered above them.

And as they walked toward whatever came next—

Neither of them looked back.

Author's Message:

WE DID IT! 🎉

The story is officially complete, and I couldn’t have done it without you! A massive THANK YOU for all your love, support, votes, and comments—they mean the absolute world to me. Seriously, you guys are the BEST! 💖

Now, what’s next? Do you have any suggestions or requests? Let me know in the comments!

Speaking of requests, bellax_lullxby asked for a Skynani Omegaverse story! 😱😱 Okay, full disclosure: I’m still a newbie writer, and Omegaverse? Whew, that’s next-level creativity! 🧠✨ I’m not sure if my brain can handle it (RIP my sanity), but you know what? I’m willing to give it a shot!

Just don’t expect a super intense, full-blown Omegaverse masterpiece—I’m thinking more like a fun, experimental twist. Or maybe just a basic supernatural/wolf kind of vibe. 😉

So, what do you think? Should I dive into this wild new world? Let me know! And again, THANK YOU for being the most amazing readers ever. You’re the reason I keep writing. 💕
