Chapter Matilda hid documents behind back.
âWhat a coincidence. Iâve been thinking of more car insurance myself. Let me take a .â
Thatâs not necessary. Iâll refer you to an insurance agent later. Theyâll introduce toâAunt Matilda what are you doing â
Before Mikayla could finish, Matilda pushed her aside and opened the file.
Mikayla attempted to snatch it back from her, but her small frame was no match against Matildaâs stature.
With her back against Mikayla, she quickly scanned through the document.
Once Matilda had read through the document, she spun around and roared âMikayla, what is this?â
Her loud voice attracted the attention of everyone at the secretariat department next to them, including the secretary that was busy picking up the documents that they dropped.
Sensing something wasnât right, Stephen granned the file out of his wifeâs hand His expression immediately turned grim.
He raised his hand, preparing to strike Mikayla.
She shut her eyes instinctively.
Despite that, the pain never came.
Opening her eyes, she found Jerome standing before her.
His expression was solemn as he grabbed Stephenâs hand.
âStephen, letâs talk this out instead of resorting to violence.â
Stephen shot a glance at Jerome, withdrawing his hand.
He then glared angrily at Mikayla.
âGo to Jeromeâs office now!â
As Stephen and Matilda dragged her to Jeromeâs office, Jerome instructed his assistant.
âGet Mr. Edelstein to host the meeting. Iâll be late.â
âNoted, Mr. Miller.â
Brian left promptly as Jerome stepped into his office.
Stephen stared at them with a grim expression.
âWhatâs with this divorce agreement? Who proposed this?â
remained silent.
âMe, Mikayla replied indifferently.
âYou-â
Infuriated, Stephen stood up and wanted to slap her again, but Matilda held him back.
âKay, tell us. Why are you filing a divorce?â Matilda asked, trying to suppress her anger.
âUncle Stephen, Aunt Matilda, please donât interfere. This is a personal matter.â Mikayla looked unfazed.
âWhat do you mean by that?â Matilda was seething. âYouâre spoiled by your grandpa! How dare you hide such a huge thing from your family and decide this on your own?â
Why canât I?â
Now that the catâs out of the bag, Mikayla answered with no reservation.
âIâm not happy in this marriage. So, I donât see a point in forcing myself to put up with it. You have no right to disagree when even Jerome agreed to this!â
âJerome, did you agree to the divorce?â Stephen questioned.
Jerome was sitting down on the couch.
Without much expression, he said, âI never liked coercing anything into anything. Since she didnât want to be known as Mrs. Miller, I didnât stop her.
âNo! A divorce is not happening!â
In a rage, Matilda snatched the divorce agreement and started ripping it apart.
âStop!â
Mikayla tried to yank it away from her, but it was too late.
The agreement which she tried so hard to get was instantly torn to shreds.
Matilda threw the torn papers into a trash can and dragged Mikayla out of the office.
âWeâre going to your Grandpa. Letâs see if heâll put up with your nonsense this time!â
âNo!â She struggled frantically. âIâll tell him on my own. Itâs none of your business.â
Stephen stood up, chiming âThis is an order! Iâve turned a blind eye to your recklessness, but youâve become more and more absurd. You have to be taught a lesson!
