Eduard was flabbergasted. He almost dropped his teacup.
Careful !
Mikayla went over to steady his cup, setting it down on the coffee table. Soothing his chest, she tried to ease his shock.
â
the act. If you really didnât want to upset Eduard, you shouldnât have done something that nonsensicallâ Matilda quipped.
Shut Stephen Interrupted. âDad, you canât let Mikayla have it her way this time. If it werenât for us, I bet she and Jerome would have been divorced by now! We went to look for him today, and Matilda found their divorce agreement.â
âKay, is this true?â Eduard asked sternly. Mikayla sniffed, replying, âGrandpa, Iâve been wanting to tell you this, but I didnât want you to worry, soâ¦â
âWhy did you want a divorce?â Eduard pestered. He remembered Mikayla bringing it up as a joke last time, but he thought she mentioned it out of spite after quarreling with Jerome. Whoâd expect her to actually file a divorce with him?
Frankly, Mikayla was exhausted by the same question everyone had asked. Yet, she had to come up with a plausible excuse for Eduard, whom she respected a lot.
Grandpa, I wasnât compatible with Jerome in the first place. He didnât like me, so itâs torturous for both of us to be stuck in this marriage. Thatâs why I wanted to end our relationship.â
âNo couples are meant to be compatible with each other! People back then stuck with their spouses for the rest of their lives even though they didnât meet their spouses before marriage!â Matilda retorted. âPlus, you insisted on marrying him. You went out of your way to marry him, and now youâre ending your relationship just because itâs torturous. Youâre too reckless!â
âWhile I did insist on marrying him, it doesnât imply that I cannot divorce him if Iâm not happy. Donât you amend your mistake once it turns up? Or would you rather persist in living within a mistake?â Mikayla rebuked.
was at a loss for words.
âMikayla, what kind of attitude is that? How dare you speak to your Aunt Matilda like that?â Stephen was fuming. âYouâve only been married for some time, and itâs not like the Millers are torturing you. I certainly understand what youâre not happy with. In fact, youâre just spoiled and reckless. You just want to trouble for everyone!â
âAre you implying that as long as theyâre not torturing me, Iâll be fine? What on earth is that logic?â Mikayla snapped. â
Louisa got stuck in an unhappy relationship, will you force her to put up with it as well?
Stephen was rendered speechless.
âEnough! Stop arguing!â Eduard said. âStephen, Matilda, you should head back first. Iâll talk to Kay about .
Dad care what , but we absolutely donât agree with the divorce!*
â
If word got others would surely mock the Davidson family. Finding a match for Louisa difficult us!
Eduard was their unyielding attitude back. I know what Iâm doing.â Reluctantly, Stephen Matilda took their leave.
Mikayla flashed an look Eduard. âGrandpa, Iâm sorry for making worry. I admit that I was reckless making the marry Jerome, but I really mean the divorce. Iâm not kidding. In fact, taking very seriously.â
Without expressing his opinion, Eduard got her to sit beside him instead. He held her hand and said, âKay, know you must have your reasons to file a divorce. Be honest with me. Do you really think Jerome like âOr let me rephrase. Did he treat you very differently now compared to the beginning of your marriage?â
Mikayla faltered. She couldnât bring herself to deny Eduardâs question.
