Chapter Jerome said, âWhere do you think youâre going? You should apply the ointment for me.â
âSorry, Iâm not a doctor, and I donât have an obligation to do that.â Mikayla coldly refused.
Jeromeâs displeasure intensified. She seemed worried about him earlier. Why did her mood change so fast? Her mood swings were terrible.
âObligation? Think about how I got injured.â
Mikayla thought he wouldnât have gotten injured if he hadnât recklessly crashed into Taylorâs car.
However, Jerome clearly wanted to settle scores with her, and she wasnât in the mood to argue with him. She reckoned that applying some ointment wouldnât take long.
Amy approached with a medical kit. Frowning, Mikayla picked up a cotton swab and alcohol.
âSir, Madam, Iâll continue with my work. Call me if you need anything.â
Amy left, and Mikayla started to deal with Jeromeâs wounds.
Although the scratches on his arms werenât very serious, there were several places where the flesh was exposed. There was also quite a bit of blood.
Jeromeâs wounds stung as the alcohol came into contact with them. He frowned but didnât say anything.
Mikayla tried to be gentle.
âItâs done.â
After applying the medicine to his arm, Mikayla prepared to put away the medical kit and wash her hands.
âMy forehead is hurt, too.â Jerome wasnât happy with her perfunctory attitude.
In the past, she would be worried sick even by a small scratch on his fingernail. Yet, she didnât notice all of his wounds today.
Mikayla glanced at the wound on Jeromeâs forehead. There was a cut near his temple, close to his hairline.
Chairtey 13 2/3 He must have gotten it from the shattered glass. The blood had dried up.
Without saying anything, she continued tending to the wounds.
Jerome sat on the sofa while Mikayla stood beside him to make things easier.
They were very close. Mikaylaâs slender waist was slightly bent, and a few strands of her hair brushed against Jeromeâs face. Her unique fragrance filled his nostrils.
Suddenly, Jerome felt somewhat stuffy. He reached out and unbuttoned a few of his top buttons.
âDonât move,â Mikayla said, holding his head in place.
Mikaylaâs warm hand pressed against his forehead. Jerome felt his throat drying up.
He raised his gaze, wanting to distract himself. But then he saw the focused expression on Mikaylaâs face. Her skin was fair. It looked so soft that even the tiny hairs were visible.
Her nose was petite, while her lips were plump and glistening.
Out of nowhere, Jerome had an urge to bite her.
Following his instincts, he reached out and embraced Mikaylaâs neck.
Unprepared for the sudden move, Mikayla leaned down. In the instant before their lips. met, she twisted her head to the side.
Her cheek pressed against his lips.
The gentle and smooth feeling, coupled with a subtle fragrance, engulfed Jerome. He pulled her closer to him.
âWhat are you doing?â Mikayla struggled to stand up. She glared at him.
Jerome snapped out of it. His expression turned cold. âDonât try to seduce me while youâre treating my wounds.â
âAre you crazy?â Mikayla was furious. She angrily dropped the cotton swab she was holding and went upstairs.
Watching her swaying figure, Jerome couldnât help recalling the soft sensation when he held her earlier.
Clenching his fists, Jerome suddenly felt thirsty. He went to the kitchen and poured himself a glass of cold water.
30 Meanwhile, Mikayla lay on the bed in her room. She felt a sense of defeat and frustration.
She had decided not to cling to Jerome anymore. Yet, she couldnât help feeling anxious upon learning about his injuries.
Jerome felt even more convinced that her divorce proposal was just an act.
The day, Jerome didnât go to the company. Mikayla avoided him throughout the day.
When Mikayla woke up again on the third day, she suddenly got over it.
Although she had decided to distance herself from Jerome in this life, she couldnât immediately let go of her emotions.
After all, she had loved him for eight years. Some habits couldnât be changed all at once. She would eventually learn to let go and embrace new things.
Her injuries from the suicide attempt were mostly healed, so she decided to visit her grandfather.
Mikayla changed into a Tâshirt and jeans. Due to her identity as Jeromeâs wife, she hadnât dressed so casually in a long time.
As she descended the stairs, she noticed Jerome was still home. Besides, there was an unexpected guest in the living room. It was none other than Kylie.
Dressed in a delicate office lady outfit, Kylie wore some light makeup. Sitting on the sofa, she chatted and giggled with Jerome.
âMikayla, youâre up.â
Hearing her coming downstairs, Kylie greeted her gracefully and naturally. It was as if she were the owner of the house.
Jerome also raised his eyes to look at her.
Perhaps due to the injury on his arm, his face lacked the usual vigor.
Unlike before, he didnât seem impatient and indifferent Instead, his gaze lingered on Mikayla for a few more seconds.
Ignoring him Mikayla smiled lightly at Kylie. âMs. White, what brings you here?â
