Chapter 14 heard Jerome was injured so I came to visit him. Mikayla, please donât misunderstand!
A thought flashed across Kylieâs mind, and she quickly explained, âI had some documents for Jerome to sign. Mr. Blue told me about his injury when I went to his office. Jerome didnât say anything to me.â
Mikayla didnât even say a word. Yet, Kylie was worried about her getting the wrong idea.
Mikayla smirked. âMs. White, let me give you a piece of advice. If you donât want people to misunderstand you, donât do things that might cause misunderstandings.
âFor example, if you know a man is married, donât come to his house without his wifeâs. invitation.
âEven if youâre at someone elseâs house, you should have the selfâawareness as a guest. When sitting with another womanâs husband, maintain some social distance.â
Hearing Mikaylaâs words, Kylie blushed. She hurriedly moved to the edge of the sofa.
âMikayla, Iâ¦â
âDonât address me like that,â Mikayla interrupted her, âIâm not that close to you. Donât call me by my name.
âIf you donât want to call me Mrs. Miller, at least call me Ms. Davidson.â
âMikayla, you should know when to stop,â Jerome warned Mikayla.
Was he defending Kylie?
Mikayla chuckled. âDid I say something wrong? Why should I stop?â
âJerome, Mikayla⦠I mean, Mrs. Miller is right. I shouldâve been more careful.â
Even though Kylie was embarrassed, she still tried to dissuade Jerome from getting angry.
âMrs. Miller, donât be upset. Iâll leave immediately.â Kylie stood up to leave.
âForget it.â Mikayla stopped her.
Iâm the one who should leave.â
âMikayla!
Jerome shouted at her again.
Mikayla couldnât be bothered with him. She took her bag and left.
The incident from the day before still haunted Mikaylaâs thoughts, so she opted to take a taxi.
Eduard Davidson lived in the suburbs. It took nearly an hour to get there.
Mikayla felt her nose pricide when she saw her robust grandfather watering the flowers. in the yard. Tears streamed down her face.
She choked and called out with exeltement, âGrandpaâ¦â
âKay, why are you crying?â
Eduard dropped the watering can and quickly approached his beloved granddaughter.
Mikaylaâs heart was filled with longing and regret. She couldnât utter a single word. She simply sobbed in her grandfatherâs embrace.
It felt wonderful to be able to see her grandfather again She didnât have a father. Since birth, she had lived with her mother in her grandfatherâs house. So, she carried her grandfatherâs surname.
Her grandfather doted on her a lot. He accommodated all of her requests.
However, she had caused her grandfather a lot of distress in her previous life. Even when he passed away, she couldnât see him for the last time.
âKay, whatâs wrong? Did that brat, Jerome, upset you?â
Eduard was both worried and distressed.
Mikayla had always been proud and lively. She rarely shed tears unless she felt very wronged.
Mikayla slowly stopped crying. With bloodshot eyes, she shook her head. âNo, I just miss you too much, Grandpa.â
âSilly child.â Eduard was both angry and amused. âYou can visit me anytime you miss. me. Why are you crying? Are you sure itâs not because of Jerome?
âNo! My life doesnât revolve around him. I just miss you.â
Seeing his granddaughter acting cute, Eduard finally felt relieved.
âAlright, Iâm glad to hear that. Spend more time with me today.â
âOkay.â
Mikayla clung to Eduard for the rest of the day, She accompanied him to water the flowers, exercise, and do some drawing Eduard was happy to have his granddaughterâs company, But he knew something had happened between Mikayla and Jerome. Mikayla hadnât mentioned jeromeâs name all day.
âMikayla, tell me what happened between you and Jerome?â
Mikayla continued painting as she asked, âGrandpa, would you support me if I get divorce from Jerome?â
âDivorce?â Eduard was shocked.
His granddaughter liked Jerome so much that even he felt somewhat envious. Why would she consider divorce?
âDid Jerome mistreat you? Iâll teach him a lesson.â
âNo!â
In Eduardâs eyes, Mikayla and Jerome were a loving couple. They had no reason to divorce. So, Mikayla had asked tentatively.
Seeing her grandfather so angry, Mikayla quickly comforted him. âI was just joking, Grandpa!â
âDonât make jokes like that!â
âOkay, I got it.
During dinner, Mikayla looked at the various delicious foods on the table. She couldnât help but drool.
âWow, thereâs so much good food! Iâm going to eat to my heartâs content!â
Eduard affectionately looked at her. âYouâre such a foodie. Arenât you on a diet anymore?
While chewing a piece of ribs, Mikayla shook her head. âNo, Iâm going to quit dieting. Food is love!â
Chapter 14 âThatâs right. Youâre already so thin. Why think about dieting all the time?â
As they chatted and laughed, Mikayla heard some movement near the door. She turned her head, and her face fell.
