Chapter 147 Jeromeâs reasons were quite logical.
Mikayla smiled. âIt doesnât matter. Itâs not a hassle to sign some documents. Besides, there are many women who aspire to be Mrs. Miller.â
She didnât mention Kylie, lest he assume that she was deliberately causing trouble for her.
âI believe your new wife will treat Grandma better than I do, so Grandma wonât be unhappy.â
Although Wanda loved her, it was also because of her status as the granddaughterâ
law, Mikayla knew this very well.
Jerome was speechless for a moment.
âMikayla, what is it about this marriage that makes you suddenly so dissatisfied that your have to rush to get out of it?â
When he had failed to accompany her on the fifth anniversary of their relationship, he had asked her to buy herself a gift to make up for it. She had thought that he didnât return home often enough, so he had recently tried to go back whenever he could.
He had also moved his clothes to the closet for her to match their outfits, and he had even moved into the master bedroom to sleep with her.
All of these were what Mikayla had requested, and he had fulfilled them. So, why did she still seem dissatisfied?
Faced with his question, she smiled and said, âYou donât understand why Iâm dissatisfied. Thatâs my biggest dissatisfaction.â
Jerome was at a loss for words. He decided not to waste any more time with Mikayla and started eating.
He thought that the meal was bland, but Mikayla still ate well. She ate a lot of meat, drank more soup, and even finished a bowl of unsweetened oatmeal.
After eating, she patted her belly and said, âAmy, Iâm going out for a walk!â
Then, she casually put on a long coat and headed outside.
It was getting dark. The street lights were already on.
The estate was attractively manicured, with wellâmaintained lawns and trees everywhere.
Chapter 147 There was also a small lake not far away.
Mikayla strolled around while admiring the scenery.
When she was walking in a somewhat quiet area by the lake, two men in black peaked suddenly blocked her path.
âWhat do you want?â Mikayla asked, stepping back warily.
Suddenly, she remembered that she had sensed someone watching her outside the gym. It should be them.
âMs. Davidson, someone sent us here to warn you to mind your own business in the future. Otherwise, youâll regret it!â one of the men threatened her viciously with a rough voice.
âWho are you? Did Johnny send you here?â
After all, the only âbusinessâ that she had been involved in lately was related to Ansoft.
Betty had mentioned that Johnny had tried to start a liquor distillery business to compete with Ansoft. However, Ansoft had been in the limelight recently, so he couldnât do much, even if he wanted to play dirty tricks.
Did he want to use her to threaten Betty?
âYou donât need to know who sent us here!â the man said viciously. âThis is a warning. If you donât listen, we wonât show you any mercy!â
Seeing the ferocious glints in the two menâs eyes and the bulging shapes of knives in their pockets, Mikayla knew that she couldnât defeat them.
To avoid suffering, she knew that she shouldnât anger them at this time.
So, she nodded obediently and said, âIâll listen to your warning. I wonât meddle in other peopleâs business in the future.â
âThatâs good! At least youâre sensible!â
The other man, who had a sharper voice, said smugly, âSign here and put your fingerprint on this letter of guarantee, then weâll let you go!â
