Mikayla mentioned wanting work at the CEOâs office when she had just graduated.
Being next to him meant that he would never be out of her sight.
She found it surprising that he actually remembered what she said.
Yet, she now detested the idea of working at his officeâshe wants to stay as far as she could from him She bet he wouldnât believe her even if she told him.
It was only ten days until their divorce, so she simply stayed silent and got in her car.
Just she was about to start the engine, Jerome slipped into the front seat as well.
âMikayla, Iâm not done yet. Why you leaving?â
He looked upset.
Mikayla glared at him.
âWhat are you not done with? Work? No thanks, but Iâm not interested any of the positions at the CEOâs office. Let some other schmuck take on the job instead.â
Jerome clenched his jaw as he picked up on her impatient expression.
âWhat do you want, Mikayla?â
âI want you to get out of my car,â she snapped. âLeave.â
He said in a clipped tone, âIâm going back with â
âIâm not going home âWhere are you going?â

Mikaylaâs blatant refusal had Jerome reach the end of his tether.
It made him seem like he was clinging onto her.
His urge to file a divorce no longer overwhelmed him, as he could see himself spending rest of his life with her.
Yet, he wouldnât coerce her into staying with him if all his efforts to make it up to her were in vain.
He quickly got out of her car.
The thought of lecturing her crossed his mind briefly, but her car zoomed off in an instant just as he stepped out of the car.
Jerome was astounded.
Mikayla arrived at Eduardâs place.
Her eyes grew moist when she saw him busy himself with gardening.
She was relieved that she still had him in this life.
âKay, why arenât you coming in?â Eduard noticed her.
She brushed a tear off subtly and replied, âIâve just arrived. I kept quiet since you were busy.â
Eduard chuckled.
âSilly girl. Come help me weed.â
âSure.â
Mikayla picked up a tiny garden hoe and began helping him out in the garden.
The sun had not dipped below the horizon, and beams of sunlight streamed down. from the sky.
The air was tranquil as they were engrossed in gardening.
Chapter 177 3/3 A wave of emotions washed through Mikayla.
It dawned on her that she used to be too obsessed with Jerome to the point that she had turned a blind eye the countless ordinary, yet beautiful things âKay, why are you so quiet? How are things with you and Jerome lately? Better?
Eduard asked casually.
Mikayla was reminded of the gift two days ago.
âGrandpa, why did you give Jerome a present my name?â
Eduard chortled.
âDid you buy one for him then?â
Pouting her lips, she replied, âItâs not like he cares, so why should I bother?
