Chapter 199 “You have a crush on her friend, Celeste, right?”

Jerome scoffed. “But she’s already married.”

Connor wasn’t angry when Jerome pointed out his thoughts, but he was a little frustrated. “She’s still young. Why did she rush into marriage?”

He then hurriedly added, “Mikayla doesn’t count. She married you because she loved you.”

Jerome sneered. “Celeste’s husband is a chief surgeon of a top–tier hospital, which means she likes a successful and stable man. Even if she’s single, she won’t be interested in you.”

Connor was rendered speechless by Jerome’s vengeance.

Birds of the same feather did flock together. Jerome and Mikayla were the same. He received a double blow.

Celeste came to the hospital in the morning, carrying the soup she had prepared for Mikayla.

“You scared me to death, Kay! How dare you block such a big wine bottle!”

“I didn’t realize you had the potential to be a lobbyist.” Mikayla rolled her eyes at Celeste.

“I only know how deep your feelings are for Jerome. I don’t want you to regret it.. He may have some flaws, but no one is perfect. Everything will be as long as he’s willing to change for you.”

From Celeste’s perspective she was right.

The man Mikayla loved finally paid attention to her. He even promised that he would try his best to change for her. It was fine if they continued to live in such a situation.

“But I don’t want to,” Mikayla said, “I would rather have no love than his sympathy.

Celeste was still puzzled. “Didn’t you say earlier that as long as you stay by Jerome’s side, he’ll realize your excellence and fall in love with you? Why are you backing down when he finally realizes it?”

Mikayla couldn’t talk about her previous life. It was natural for Celeste not to understand her.

So, she changed the subject. “Let’s not talk about it. I’m hungry. I want to eat something.”

Celeste glanced at her but said nothing more.

After eating, a doctor came to check on Mikayla and said he would give her another check–up later. If there were other problems, she could get discharged from the hospital.

She was naturally happy to hear that. Soon, she planned to stroll with Celeste in the small garden outside.

While walking in the corridor, they ran into several doctors. The leader was a man wearing rimless glasses with a cold temperament.

That was Celeste’s husband, Nolan Chance.
