After speaking, Mikayla was about to leave.
Just then, Taylorâs wicked voice sounded. âThe bait has been cast, donât you want to reel it Mikayla halted her steps She gritted her teeth. âYou set me up when you sent that message, didnât you?â
Taylor shrugged nonchalantly. âDonât say that. Weâre benefiting each other.â
As they were talking, Irene restlessly got up and walked toward them.
âTaylor, can you sit over there? I want to have a few words alone with Ms. Davidson.
Taylor raised his eyebrows at her request. âWhat do you want to say to her? Iâm warning you. If you dare lay a finger on her, I wonât forgive you even if your brother steps in.â
Irene let out a pained expression. âRest assured. Since youâre here, I canât possibly harm her.
âYou better keep your promise.â Taylor scoffed coldly before turning to Mikayla.
He said gently, âDonât worry, Iâll be right over there. If you need anything, just call me.â
Mikayla rolled her eyes at him. She didnât feel like responding to him.
As Taylor walked away, he glanced back at Mikayla occasionally.
Irene took a deep breath and said, âWe meet again, Ms. Davidson.â
Her gaze was noticeably more determined than last time as if she had already accepted the reality of something.
Mikayla couldnât bear to see her desolation, so she said bluntly, âMs. Sullivan, Taylor was just speaking nonsense, donât take it to heart.
âAnd, I lied to you last time. Taylor doesnât like me at all. I was forced to come here today. If you like him, you can pursue without worrying about me. I wonât be an obstacle to pursuit so please view as your enemy.â
Hearing her words Irene didnât show any signs of surprise or any other expression.
âMs. Davidson, Iâm aware of your situation. I know you have a husband, and you donât like Taylor I also know that Taylor has caused trouble in your marriage, so much so that you and your husband are getting a divorce.â
What kind of findings were these? It was completely wrong.
Mikayla felt exhausted. âMs. Sullivan, my divorce with Jerome has nothing to do with Taylor. I know thereâs a deepârooted conflict between Taylor and Jerome. Theyâve always been at odds.â
Irene continued speaking, âKnowing Taylorâs personality, itâs surprising that he didnât take it out on you. Instead, he got close to you.â
Even though the timing wasnât right, Mikayla couldnât help but ask, âDo you know what their conflict is?â
In her past life, they were business rivals. In this life, they couldnât even see eye to eye on anything.
Irene probably didnât expect her to switch topics, so she reminded, âMs. Davidson, thatâs not the point.â
But for Mikayla, that was exactly the point.
Mikayla guessed she couldnât inquire anything more about this from Irene, so she asked, âMs. Sullivan, have you ever thought of the possibility that Taylor is just using me as an excuse to reject your marriage proposal?â
âBut he has so many people that he could use, why did he choose you? There are many women around him, and Iâve never felt nervous because I know he doesnât care about them. But you, I can see that youâre different from the rest,â Irene insisted.
Mikayla shook her head. Love really makes people go blind.
Mikayla didnât argue with her and asked, âWhat do you want to say to me?â
There was hint of sadness in Ireneâs eyes. âI want to ask you for a favor.â
Mikayla said hurriedly, âRest assured. I wonât contact Taylor anymore nor will I agree Chapter 203 to his pursuit.â
âThatâs not what I want to ask.â Irene mustered her courage. âCan you teach me how to win Taylorâs heart?â
Mikayla was speechless.
What had she gotten herself into? How would she know how to win Taylorâs heart? She had no experience in that anyways.
At the same time, Mikaylaâs phone rang.
Seeing Jeromeâs number, she quickly answered the call and shouted out loud,â Darling!â
