Upon hearing her question, Jeromeâs expression darkened.
âDo you not want to apply the medicine so Grandma would notice somethingâs wrong Jerome replied with a question.
Mikayla didnât know what to say.
She didnât want to further harm her body. Besides, Jerome smelled like medicine, so he had most likely already applied it on himself.
He probably had more experience than Amy in massaging as well.
With that in mind, Mikayla sat on her chair and pulled down the clothes on her shoulder slightly. âYou can apply it while I sit.
Even though Jerome appeared like he wasnât interested in her, she didnât know when heâd suddenly lose control.
It was safer to sit than to lie down.
Jerome didnât object and walked behind her. He rubbed his palms with the medicine before applying it to her shoulder.
The warmth of Makaylaâs injury radiated a sweltering soreness, causing her brows to knit together into a frown.
But, Jerome didnât go easy on her. He started massaging her with more force.
Although it felt painful, the coolness of the medicine and the warmth of his palm created an intense feeling of relief.
After about half an hour of massaging, Mikayla was drenched in sweat.
However, Jerome was exerting so much force that he was probably sweating even .
Amy probably wouldnât have been able to massage as well as Jerome did.
At that moment, Mikaylaâs opinion of Jerome improved slightly.
After the massage Jerome didnât linger. He immediately left.
didnât expect that.
He was a businessman. Why didnât he ask for anything in return?
At night, when Mikayla was deep in sleep, she felt some movement on the bed.
Apparently Jerome had come to sleep beside her.
Perhaps he didnât want to bother with moving since there were only a few days left.
Mikayla didnât think much about it and went back to sleep.
When Mikayla woke up the next day, Jerome was no longer by her side.
When she was heading downstairs for breakfast, she received a call from Betty. She had asked Mikayla to come to Ansoft.
âBetty, you arenât even taking a break on Saturdays?â Mikayla joked with her. âYouâre truly careerâoriented.â
Ansoftâs sales had been improving steadily, and Betty was the person behind all the work.
Most of her time and energy was spent in the company, earning her the reputation of a career woman.
âI donât have a choice. The companyâs business has just stabilized. I canât afford to be complacent.â Betty laughed. âI want you to come over to see how the company is running. Youâre a shareholder after all.â
Mikayla laughed as well. âI trust you with everything. Iâm just waiting for Ansoft to start its IPO. Iâll make a fortune from my investment then.â
âItâs what you deserve. If it werenât for you helping out in our time of need, Ansoft might have gone under because of Johnny,â Betty said. âSpeaking of which, I received news that Johnny might be getting released soon.
âHe was taken away by the police just a few days ago. How could he be released so soon?â Mikayla was puzzled.
Betty explained that Johnny was taken away because he had obtained the operating rights of liquor distillery through improper means.
However now other party had admitted that they sold the operating rights at a low cost, there was no threat involved. â
âIsnât it clear that the other party has bought off?â Mikayla asked. âOtherwise, why would someone willingly take the blame for him?â
Itâs hard to say,â Betty said. âWhen I heard he might get released soon, I was worried he might come after you again. So, I thought Iâd give you a heads up.â
Mikayla frowned.
