Chapter 24 While Mikayla struggled with her tire, Jeromeâs voice sounded in her ear.
Raising her head, she realized he had walled over to her car.
Even though she felt embarrassed, she wasnât childish enough to reject his offer out of spite.
Pursing her lips, she undid her seatbelt and got out of the driverâs seat.
Jerome sat inside her car. He calmly placed his hands on the steering wheel and stepped on the accelerator. The car lurched backward, and the right tire got out of the pothole.
Afterward, Jerome smoothly exited the driverâs seat and said, âYou take over.â
Mikayla pressed her lips together and got back behind the wheel.
As she put her seat belt on, Jerome sat himself in the passengerâs seat.
âWhat are you doing?â Mikayla frowned.
He glanced at her. Instead of answering, he asked her, âWhy did you do this to your hair?â
Mikayla looked at her shoulderâlength curls in the rearview mirror. âI can do my hair however I want. What does it have to do with you?â
Jeromeâs face darkened.
âIs there anything else? If there isnât, then please get off. Canât you see Iâm busy?â Mikayla said asking him to leave.
Jerome tolerated her snark. He put on his seat belt and said coldly, âI thought you wanted. to practice driving? What are you waiting for?â
Mikayla now understood Jeromeâs intentions. âI donât need your concern. Iâm doing well on my own!â
Jerome clicked his tongue. âSo well to the point you couldnât get out of the pothole?â
Mikayla retorted, âThe sky is too dark. I just didnât notice it.â
âAre you certain that youâll only drive to wellâlit places without any obstacles?
âI Mikayla wanted to justify herself, but Jerome cut her off impatiently. âI donât want to have to clean up after you every time. Start practicing!â
Mikayla was speechless. What happened last time was indeed her fault.
She was too lazy to continue fighting with him, so she set her gaze forward and stepped on the gas.
Although Mikayla didnât need Jerome to teach her, she had to admit that it came to her more naturally with him giving her some pointers by her side.
She was now rather wellâversed in going forward, making turns, and doing threeâpoint turns.
âIâm tired. Letâs continue next time â
Not only was she tired, she couldnât stop thinking about Ansoft Enterprise. She didnât know whether Taylor had finished reading her early draft of the plan yet.
âYou can get down here.â
Mikayla stopped her car next to Jeromeâs.
Jerome didnât move. He said casually, âJust leave my car here. The driver will get it tomorrow. I want to see how good you are at reversing into the garage.â
Mikayla was speechless.
She drove back to the garage at the villa. As Jerome expected, she was stumped by having to reverse into it.
Even though she had a reverse camera, she still couldnât figure it out.
âPay attention to the yellow lines on both sides of the tires. While you adjust the angle of your car, slowly turn the wheel.â
Jerome leaned over to press his hand over hers on the steering wheel.
The warmth of his palm seeped into the back of her hand. His chest was pressed against her shoulder.
Furthermore, he was breathing heated air into her ear. Mikayla felt extremely uncomfortable.
She wanted to pull her hand out from his and lean further to the left. However, Jerome was one step ahead. He pressed down on her hand and said sternly, âStay focused so that you can learn properly.â
Mikayla was at a loss for words. âJust treat him like a free instructor. Youâre just using him to practice driving,â she chanted to herself on the inside.
Then, she followed Jeromeâs instructions and adjusted the angle of her car.
She took this practice session very seriously. Her gaze was focused, and her brows were lightly furrowed. Even her nose beading with sweat Mikaylaâs hands felt very soft, and her hair smelled really nice.
He couldnât stop his mind from wandering.
Finally, Mikayla straightened the wheel and began to reverse into the lot. Her car backed into the garage smoothly.
âI did it!â
She raised her head in joy.
She then noticed that Jerome was staring at her.
His eyes were so dark that she could see her own smile reflected in them.
Right now, they were so close to each other that they could feel each otherâs breaths.
Mikayla had never been so close to Jerome before, much less in good spirits.
All of a sudden, her brain stopped working. She stared blankly at Jerome.
Jerome lowered his head to hers. As his face got closer, she saw his thick lashes and his lips-
âWhat are you doing?â
Right before Jeromeâs lips touched hers, Mikaya suddenly returned to her senses. She quickly pushed him away.
Are you crazy?â she said in embarrassment before hopping off the car.
She slapped her own forehead a few times. Inside her head, she scolded herself, Youâre hopeless!â
All he did was come a little closer to her. How had she let herself be bewitched?
They were on the verge of getting divorced!
Amy was in the dining room back in the villa, waiting for them to have dinner.
âMadam, the Miller Manor sent over some lentil soup. Mrs. Miller Senior specially made. it for you two and asked that you finish it.â
From time to time, Wanda would send them .
In the past, Mikayla loved using this excuse to make Jerome come home. But now, she didnât even want to be in the same room as him.
At that moment, she heard Jerome coming into the house. She quickly dashed upstairs.
âAmy, Iâm not hungry. Iâll pass this time!â
âArenât you anemic? Come and eat!â Jerome called after her.
Mikayla ignored him and disappeared upstairs.
Sir, Iâll leave some food for Mrs. Miller. She can have some if sheâs hungry later.â
Jerome was pissed off by Mikaylaâs antics. âIf she doesnât want to eat, then donât bother leaving her any!â
Amy didnât dare say anything.
Jerome sat down and drank his lentil soup, fuming. He threw his spoon down and said, Leave this here. Iâll have it for supper tonight.
With that, he went to the study.
Amy was puzzled. Jerome never ate supper, did he?
After Mikayla finished taking a shower, she opened her email.
She saw that Taylor had replied to her email, acknowledging how professional it was. At the same time, he also gave her some reasonable requests.
Although Taylor seemed like a rich prodigal from afar, he was unexpectedly very efficient when it came to work.
In order to draft a detailed investment plan there were still many things to look into comprehensively. Mikayla rubbed her palms, ready to get to work.
Suddenly, a thud sounded outside her door.
