Jerome was a bastard. He knew that she wasnât sober, yet he deliberately recorded this to shut her up, âMikayla, I took you to the hospital last night. I wanted to let you rest, but you holding onto me and wouldnât let go. You wanted my love so desperately.â He seemed to have thought of something and added, âIâve said it before. Iâm a man, not a saint.â
Mikayla knew that the drug Johnny forced on her had a strong hallucinogenic effect.
She had heard from Celeste that drugs like these would cause hallucinations. If there were some sort of obsessions in the mind, the situation would be even more serious.
Though she didnât remember being sent to the hospital last night, she felt like she had a dream.
She dreamt that she was still in the psychiatric hospital, waiting for Jerome to find out the truth about the arson.
Jerome finally found out the truth and went to see her. He even her and said he would like her.
She was so excited that she abandoned any shyness and passionately kissed Jerome. She even expressed her desire for a closer relationship with him..
In her past life, Mikayla had a deep obsession with Jerome.
So, everything that happened last night was her desire and longâawaited dream in her past life.
If it were just an ordinary aphrodisiac, she might only have physical desires. She would have resisted it and stopped Jerome.
But unfortunately, she was drugged with a hallucinogen.
Her obsession was magnified to the point that she instinctively wanted to get close to Jerome physically and mentally.
She slept with him. So what?
Her world wouldnât crumble just because of this.
It was just unfortunate that she encountered Johnny which led to this disaster.
Although Jerome took advantage of her, if she had fallen into Johnnyâs hands, she couldnât imagine the kind of suffering she wouldâve gone through.
Even if her feelings for Jerome werenât as intense anymore compared to Johnny and his man, she would prefer to sleep with Jerome.
228 23 At least, the woman in her dream last night was very satisfied.
Consider it as the wishful thinking of her past self being finally fulfilled.
Mikayla stopped dwelling on it and asked confusedly. âShouldnât Johnny be found guilty with a charge?
Why hasnât he been brought in for an investigation?â
Jerome was somewhat surprised. He thought Mikayla would continue to dwell on last nightâs events, accuse him, and force him for an explanation But she just glossed it over just like that?
âIs it hard to explain?â Mikayla was puzzled Jerome suppressed his faint sense of disappointment and said, âSomeone from the orphanage colluded with Johnny and secretly prevented the police from gathering evidence. He took advantage of that loophole.
âMike had sent him to the police station last night. He just updated Johnny has confessed that it was him who did it out of spite.â
âHow did you know I was kidnapped by Johnny?â Mikayla asked another qu question.
Jerome explained that he had heard from Wanda that she had returned to the Davidson family, so he wanted to call her to ask about the situation.
But neither Mikayla nor the driver answered their phone. Then he found out from Eduard that she hadnât returned yet.
He sensed that something was wrong and immediately sent someone to locate her.
He finally tracked Mikaylaâs whereabouts and found out that she had been kidnapped by Johnny.
Jerome and his men quickly rushed to rescue her.
Though he mentioned it quite casually, Mikayla knew that it must have cost a lot of effort and connections.
Mikayla thanked him sincerely. âThank you.â
If it werenât for Jeromeâs timely arrival, the consequences would have been disastrous. He deserved a thank you from her.
Jerome looked at her. âThereâs no need to thank me. Itâs my fault not fulfilling my duties as a husband. I put you in such danger.â
âIt has nothing to do with you. No one could have foreseen such an incident,â she replied.
Suddenly, Mikayla thought of Eduard got nervous. âGrandpa doesnât know about what happened last night, does he?â
âNo, he doesnât.â Jerome reassured her. âI called last night to ask about you. He thought we fought, and you were angry with me. He even comforted me.â
âWhat about Grandma?â Mikayla asked.
